College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

Mine arrived Sat. all neat and tidy. However, one question that I've not seen answered. Can other feed be added? Ex. I feed my brugs and trop. hibs about every other day right now. So I shouldn't use this on them? Perhaps only on my bedded plants? And shouldn't water them when I have the plant food sprayer on?

I didn't have a chance to read any of this info yet but you can click on each photo of plant food container: http://www.dynamiteplantfood.com/products.jsp and it should give info. I don't even know which one we all got a sample of ... need to go get it and check it out later when I have a free minute.

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

Now that is a useful link, thank you for the information! 9 months feeding, that is a full season and then some for me. I'll be using it tomorrow on some established beds that were a bit puny last summer, should be a good test.

Hebron, KY

Are all the Dynamite Plant Food products all organic? I only use organic and wouldn't want to request free samples if they weren't. Does anyone know for sure?

Thanks!

Marilyn

I found out my answer by clicking onto the links on their website! :-)

I'll send for my free samples now!

Thanks Dave and Dynamite!

Marilynbeth, if you only use "organic" products then you might not want to use Dynamite. Although it is considered, and touted as, "environmentally sustainable" it is not an "organic product". Maybe they offer an organic line but I haven't seen it yet. As for me, all our food crops are strictly grown organically but I use time-released plant foods (like Dynamite, Nutricote, Osmocote, etc) on our bedding plants, shrubs, etc.

As for other questions, remember, DG gave the Dynamite folks their own forum and I bet many of you will find your answers there. I bet they'd love to answer questions for you. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/dynamite/all/

Mine arrived safe and sound....I was worried!

Ok where do we find the info
For Go Gardening contest with very nice prizes.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Marilynbeth--I do believe from looking at their website that they have one organic fertilizer product (I didn't look at it closely enough to see if it was OMRI certified though) but I think the samples they're sending are the regular non-organic kind.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

YUP! Got mine today. The envelope was trashed and ripped and all taped up and half the little "balls" were all loose inside. They should have been mailed in a bubble envelope!

However--I will take anything for free.....

Plantlady--your desrtiption of hpw your envelope looked is exactly how mine arrived. Odd that the inside oacket was open--and, yes, it had a hole through it--like punched with a hole-puncher.
Also--the flap on the envelope had been scotch-taped shut--as if it was opened. Stamped on the front was "Received in damaged condition". Of course--anyone can stamp that on there......

edited to further describe the appearance of my envelope.

So many of the packages have been damaged or opened I am beginning to wonder if it is from them being machine processed or if they are ripping them open to inspect them and not retaping them properly.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Thank you sir :)

now if I stay up late going through things since I have info on Illinois and a lil in Texas it is your fault LOL

Hebron, KY

Shoe,

Thanks for the info! I thought that when I read alot more of their info from their site that they were an all organic company, so I went ahead and sent for free samples. I'll give mine ( non organic ones ) to a neighbor when they come.

Thanks for the link too!

Ecrane,

I noticed the organic product. Seems a little high in nitrogen ( 10-2-8 ). I'll check into it more when I go to Home Depot ( if they offer this product ). Thanks for the info! http://www.dynamiteplantfood.com/organic.jsp

The bottle states it is OMRI Listed.

Thanks to both of you for taking the time for responding! I appreciate it!

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

Got mine today...outer envelope trashed and taped. The packet inside was perfectly fine. Thanks Dynamite and Dave! :-))

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

Arrived in south Texas - no damage to envelope or contents.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Mine also arrived with the end of the envelope and end of the plant food ripped open. It looks like it went through a sorting machine.

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

Got mine yesterday. Outside envelope a little damaged, inside packet in perfect condition.

Mine arrived. Both envelope and packet were in fine condition. Thank you Dynamite and Dave!

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

The slow release advertising on the organic product is true however that is true of most organic products. The high nitrogen could be derived from urea, blood, poultry poop or alfalfa meal. The label should show the source of the nitrogen. Urea and blood both leach out pretty quickly. Smaller units per sale always costs much more than forty or fifty pound bags.

I bought the 2lb. container (the red one) of Dynamite Premium Fertilizer (for Flowers and Vegetables--13-13-13) at my HD yesterday. It cost $8.97. Feeds for 9 months.

Here's the contents info:

Total Nitrogen: 13% --6.5% Nitrate Nitrogen--6.5% Ammoniacal Nitrogen
Available Phosphate: ---13%
Soluble Potash---13%
Magnesium--1.2% (water soluble)
Boron--0.02%
Copper (water soluble)--0.05%
Iron (chelated iron)--0.20%
Manganese (water soluble)-0.06%
Molybdenum--o.o2%

Broadcast rate--2tsp. or 1/4capfull per square foot.

Just FYI--if any of you needed to know this.

im wondering is there anyway dynamite sees this thread and maybe knows that the packets arent arriving in good condition to take further precautions?

if not is there a way for them to be told they arent arriving in great condition

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5a)

imzadi, I started a thread over in the Dynamite Plant Food sponsored forum because mine came mangled. This thread seems to be getting more traffic, and no-one from Dynamite has responded over there, either. Still, here's the link if you want to see the rest of the comments: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/832058/

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

I'd hoped folks would start using the Dynamite Forum more. I really think they'd like to hear all this input, and questions asked about the product(s). And yes, there has been very little response from them over there for quite some time now (to my knowledge) but hopefully they'll catch up with their other work and be able to spend more time helping folks out.

Anyway, methinks there will be a much bigger chance to hear from them in their designated forum rather than here.

Thanks for posting that link again, Jill...that makes it much easier for us.

thanks i posted over there too.

Glad I could help! :)

Ok, I feel I must defend us poor postal employees here. LOL!!
As, one of my jobs is to sort through the large flat envelopes.
First of all, if it is a small envelope with no markings on the outside as to the contents,
there is no way to know not to put it through the machine. Envelopes such as these should be marked with something like, hand cancel, please do not crush, pictures please do not bend, etc. This will call more attention to the envelope so the person sorting will catch that there is something in the envelope that may damage easily.
You can't put something easily smashed into a regular envelope without handling instructions and expect it not to be damaged. We do the best we can, but when one person sorts through 100,000 envelopes a night, things can get missed, especially if not labeled, or packaged properly. I have learned a lot about the postal system since working there this last year, and I am honestly amazed that more mail isn't lost, damaged, or torn.
Sorry, everyone, just got off work, so I felt I must put in my two cents.
Janet

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Good point Janet. Now can you explain the 12-15 day delivery times even on local mail? ☺

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Janet, I think you've hit on the source of the problem... these were sent out in regular legal envelopes with a 75 cent metered postage imprint on them. Mine arrived intact, so I think I got lucky and it missed going through the sorting machines.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Got mine yesterday and the envelope was just fine, however, the little pellets were rolling around inside. Kinda strange as the package was not open. Hmmmm,

Anyway thanks for the opportunity to try a different product.

Dee

Ocean Springs, MS(Zone 8b)

Zany,
No, wish I could. Probably a local plant management problem. Our plant is at the top of the list in the nation for 2 and 3 day delivery. Not sure where CA falls on the list.
Sounds like some of the handlers were able to catch that there was something in the envelope other than mail and others didn't.
Hard to catch them all when they are not marked. (Sometimes even when they are).
Still waiting for mine. :o)

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5a)

Janet, glad to hear your explanation of the behind-the-scenes events at the post office! Good to have some understanding of the why's and wherefore's of what we're asked to do.

I'm hoping that Dynamite is/will be checking these threads. I truly appreciate their generous offer, and hope that if they decide to do something similar in the future, they can figure out ways around this problem.

DFW area, TX(Zone 7b)

Thank you, Dave and Dynamite. Never heard of them
before and I would be glad to try their product.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Mine came... torn enough so there was no product.

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Sorry about all you guys that got messed up packages - Mine came today, all intact with instructions to shake it into the planting hole or on top of the soil for houseplants - only problem, does not say how much to use!
