Free samples of Dynamite Plant Food for DG members :)

Kerrville, TX(Zone 8a)

Home Depot carries it.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Misty, I think one of their product options is an organic fertilizer (see their website). I'm guessing that the samples are their regular all-purpose fertilizer, though.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Thank you, I'll check it out. :)

Worcester, MA

I wanted to request he free plant food but can't open the hyperlink (how do you make thoses?) I am having trouble opening most of the hyperlinks. Any ideas?

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

It may be your popup blocker giving you problems...try holding the control button while you click on it, most times that'll temporarily disable the blocker. If that doesn't work, try using Firefox instead (or if you're using FF, try Internet Explorer)

Edited to add...if those don't work, hold your mouse over the link and look at the very bottom left corner of your browser window--it'll show you the web address that the link goes to. Open a new browser window and type it into the address bar exactly as it shows up there, and that should take you directly to the page

Missouri City, TX

Holden, MO(Zone 5b)

Got mine yesterday too, I will give it a try on the lilac that has not grown in years. Don't know what the deal is with the plant. , so hope the Dynamite Plant Food will do the trick.

thanks for free sample

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I got mine yesterday, thank you! I think I'll try it on my lilac too that hasn't bloomed in over 3 years. Thanks Linda for reminding me and I too hope it does the trick.

Dallas, TX

I bought some green at the Home Depot Sunday ... they didn't have the red. Not that I would know the difference. :)

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I received mine today also. I didn't read anywhere on the package about how much to use on a plant. Do I use the whole packet in a potted plant? Normally I would use about a Tablespoon of the other stuff, but I don't know about this brand yet. Any ideas?

Thank you for the sample Dynamite.

Howdy, Donna!

I posted about that topic at : http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/832058/

Haven't gotten a reply yet but I'm sure others will be needing that info, too, eh?

I guess whoever printed up their sample packets forgot to put detailed instructions on it.

Shoe

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Mine came with an instruction sheet.

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Cordeledawg, I received the instruction sheet also, but it still didn't give any instructions on the amount to use.

Thanks Shoe, I will check out the other post now. :-)

Got mines!!
Thanks : )

(jax) Dundalk, MD(Zone 7a)

Received my sample, today. Can't wait to try it. Thanks Dynamite and Dave.

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

Received mine, the post office did a number on the envelope, it was loose and half gone, boohoo.

(jax) Dundalk, MD(Zone 7a)

So was mine!

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Mines too!!
I almost did not open it.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Mine arrived intact.

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

Mine too. I'm wondering if it didn't happen at the originating post office since the damaged results ended up in MD, Mo and TX. When I got the mail, I wasn't going to say anything except thank you. But since you both mentioned it, I thought I should too. The entire side was split open and so was the sample package. I'm amazed that any of it stayed in the envelope. Thank goodness my mail lady put it in the mailbox on the unopened side or else it would all be gone. I'm guessing about 1/4 of it was actually there, according to the weight now and what the trial size says. I will be happy to try that portion on my plants though and report back.

Thanks again for making this gesture and I look forward to seeing more blooms!

Cant wait to try it and report back on the results :o)

Mine was banged quite a bit, and the envelope was definitely starting to fall apart, but I think most of the pellets were still inside. I'm going to sprinkle it around my roses tomorrow. :-)

(Zone 1)

Got an envelope in the mail today from NAMEMEDIA, bent, crushed envelope with incorrect address. I could feel small beady things through the envelope. The packet was open and the entire contents was loose inside the envelope with the letter. I am going out to sprinkle it into a couple of plants right now before those little beads escape all over the floor and the kitties think it's some new toy!

Norfolk, VA

I received mine and it was an ugly sight. It was shipped in a #10 envelope (certainly not what I would have expected), the envelope was in tact although it seemed like there was a lot of white out used to cover things on the envelope. The product inside of the envelope was ripped apart, looking as if it was put into the envelope that way before it was shipped. There were no instructions on how to use the product, and nowhere on the product does it say how much to use at a time. By reading the ingredient label, I'm wondering if this product is truly organic. I'm thinking that it is not, but I could be wrong.....

(Zone 1)

Beckie: Sounds like your sample arrived in the same exact condition as mine and a couple of other folks! I can't say the P.O. had anything to do with the plant food packet being ripped open. The #10 envelope was completely sealed but the foil pack of plant food pellets was torn open and loose all over inside the white envelope. Really strange.

Norfolk, VA

yep, that's how mine was.....and when reading the back of it, it says that it can be harmful to animals.......really doubt that it is a good thing to use as I have a cat, and many wild life animals around my yard. I would be devastated if I used this product just to go outside and find dead animals in my yard, it will be going in the trash.......maybe they can come up with something that is more environmentally friendly......

edited to add.....I have heard the same from a few others, that the pack was open inside of the envelope....there has to be a reason for this.......

According to their web site, they do make an organic product, but I am guessing these samples are of their all-purpose one (not necessarily organic).

Sounds like this might be their first promotion of this sort and they've run into some technical glitches...

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

Yep, it was a nice offer, I guess fertilizer doesn't mail very good.

(Zone 1)

I think those plant pellets would mail "good" if it were done properly. I am wondering if the packets were old (samples they are trying to get rid of) or if they possibly have a disgruntled employee packing and mailing? Or, it could just be that whoever is packing and mailing is temporary "help" and doesn't care?

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

I dont believe it is the company's fault that the packets were torn apart. I'm certain that they wouldnt go thru the expense of mailing out a bunch of 'old' product. The mailing cost alone had to be a tremenous expense for them! They could have just dumped the 'old' product and saved themselves the expense if that were the case!

I believe the 'problem' lies with the automated post offices. The envelopes are run thru a machine that reads the delivery zip code and smashes the contents. this is the reason why we pay extra to send the bubble envies... because those bulky envelopes cant be run thru a machine. This would also explain why only some destinations have damaged product and some arrived intact, with a letter giving explicit instructions on how to use the product. :o)
whether you receive an intact sample or not, depends on how lazy your main delivery post office was in 'posting' and 'sorting' your package. If I were you, I would contact the postal service to complain, and then maybe contact NAMEMEDIA, because I am sure they would replace your sample given the chance...and they too would probably complain to the postal service for their inferior handling of their mail.

just a thought.... :o)

I am grateful for the offer and the chance to try the product free of charge, I am also grateful they paid all that postage to deliver my 'free' smaple to me :o)

(Zone 1)

I agree it was a huge expense to send out all those free samples ... postage on my envelope was 75 cents so multiply that by however many they mailed and it would be a chunk of money.

But, I don't think it had to do with machines at the P.O., as the beads of dynamite plant food were not smashed ... the white #10 outer envelope was all wrinkled and had the wrong address but no tears in that envelope at all. The packet of plant food inside was torn open at the top and there was also a little hole in the side of it so the entire contents was loose inside the white envelope. I don't know how a postal machine could have torn the package inside the envelope without the envelope being torn also.

I threw the envelope away but here's a picture of what the little packet of dynamite looks like ... maybe moisture got to it and that's what caused the openings. I still plan on using it ... my plants love to eat! And, hey it was free, so I will still use it.

Mine arrived intact. Just wanted to mention that Name Media is the company that bought DG - right? So, it looks like Dynamite sent NM a load of samples and NM mailed them out. They are probably not used to doing this kind of thing.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

mine was open and the envelope its self was open and spilling!
picked up as much as i could

New York & Terrell, TX(Zone 8b)

Never received mine at all :0...(

I really do appreciate the opportunity to try Dynamite. However, I do beleive that the post office placed the envelope in the sorting machine, squeezing the inner product package to the point where it burst open. As mine is open at the top like it burst. I am just happy that the legal envelope held up, and did not bust as well. Or else I would not have gotten anything. So, again I say, Thank you Dynamite and DG.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Robin--I wouldn't give up yet, I don't have mine yet either and I'm sure there are others who are still waiting as well. If they had a ton of samples to send out I'm sure some of them went out later than others, and some things take a little longer than others in transit so it wouldn't surprise me if there was at least another week before everyone has theirs (maybe longer depending on how quickly you requested yours, I imagine the people who are getting theirs now requested them fairly shortly after Dave started this thread, so if you didn't find the thread until a week or two later then you may have longer to wait)

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Mine has not arrived yet either. The mail service here is always slower than the rest of the planet so knowing that some folks are recieving theirs tells me mine will be here in a week or three...

I maile a card to a friend who lives in the same zip code. By the time she got it 4 weeks later it had been post marked here, San Francisco, Long Beach and Bend Oregon!

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I had a package from Bluestone Perennials that took a similar trip once...it went to Sacramento, then to somewhere near me, then for some reason back to Sacramento, then somewhere different near me, then back to Sacramento one more time and then finally to the right place near me and came from there to my house. I can't remember if that was UPS or the post office though, but it ended up taking about 2 weeks for the package to get to me. Surprisingly most of the plants survived though!
