Just put the elephant scarf in the suitcase.. :)
I am not fond of travelling..or packing..but my sister is there..and it is a special time for us to be together.

Betty must be in Meaford spending all her birthday money...
it is always fun to she what she has bought on her shopping trips.

Rachel must be busy..we haven't heard from her recently.

Bye for now..

Glenview, IL

Thank you everyone...He is really excited
He qualified two years ago but couldn't attend...he was too young.
Funny story about that too...Some how he got entered in the wrong weight catagory,
ended up wrestling with the 12-15 year olds kids who were bigger then him...Hahha, he walked away with 2nd place in that one...Coach says he a kid with no fear!!
...Anyway Coach said it looks good for him. Will be some good wrestlers in his weight range
Thanks for routing for him!!

LOL...was thinking the same thing, Hope Betty's tummy is better too.
I am looking forward to see and hear all about her Birthday Day!! hahah, probly buying up the town.

Hmmm, wondering if she is wearing her Crown!

Well, got to go help decorate..people are starting to arrive.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just got in, thank you all for your 'happy birthday' wishes...
Had a wonderful time today, tummy still off, didn't even stop for dinner, thought I'd best get home, nice relaxing bath and enjoy a quiet evening..

Got some shopping done, purchased the windchime for my swap, a few things for my 'secret pal' on this site so must say I'm sorry, can't be showing you everything..lol one never knows what's in all those boxes..

Bought some oils and bath salt for my baths..says it makes you sensual so why not? Have no idea why I should try to be sensual but the label made it sound so nice! lol

Shar, how absolutely terrible that you are too ill to go, we'll be sending warm hugs, words of support and soon you'll fly the big bird..

I want to reply to all of your posts but must clean the craft room first because all the girls will be here tomorrow and I must return about 20 calls (everyone says you are suppose to stay home on your birthday so they can reach you) I don't know, thought it fun to go out!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Betty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You bought ALL those boxes just today?????????????????? :-O

Man! When you shop---YOU SHOP!!!

I better put my jaw back in place.......

Gita

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yep, all those boxes, treasure in each and every one of them..now to find a place to store them until they are needed..loved the windchimes..hope the recipient will enjoy..am sure they will..can't tell you all what's in the boxes though....lol

Just had a lovely call from Oliver .. he thinks he's my 3rd son..lol..he's from Germany .. stayed here for school, lived at my house (did have an appt. to stay in but wanted to stay with us 1/2 the time)

Another sister in law called, her message brought tears to my eye, she has such a way with words...

Her message said ' hello on this wonderful day, the Lord created this special day as he knew he would allow an angel to walk the earth..he created you! can't remember it all, should not have erased it...I'll have to ask her to call me again and leave the message..lol

Just cannot believe how exciting and overwhelming this '60th' has been!
Here is a 9 piece puzzle I purchased, going to photo copy it and then will do what the 'podgy Queen Judy" would do, podgy them to wood, cut them out and make some..apparently it takes months to do the jigsaw picture..should entertain me at work..

***** If any of you would like to send me your e-mail address, I have the nicest piece to send out..don't normally ever do that, but this is worth hearing..can't figure out how to add it to here as there is no http: reference..so, if you'd like to hear it, d-mail me with your e-mail address...

I have Shar's and Jeannine's
Gita, your newsletter didn't show you e-mail address...

Off to find some hidding spots..lol

Betty,

The newsletter is from DG. I opened it and forwarded it to you. I think I deleted my info at the top so as not to mess up the nice stuff in the Newsletter.

I did answer your D-mail and sent you my e-mail address there. Go check--it should be there. If not--I will send it again. Sent you a e-card too. Did you check your "inbox" yet? I got a notice that my card had been "picked up". It is from Jaquie Lawson

Gita

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Wow Betty..what a lot of goodies....I knew you would be loaded down with 'treasures.'

I just came back from having birthday cake, ice cream, and coffee at my neighbours. It was for their father who will be 92 on Wed.

Pacifica, CA

evening all,
betty, oh it looks like you indeed had a special day
and loads of fun shopping , hope your tummy is better

shar, hope your felling a little better

carol, how wonderful to be up there in age

everyone have a good evening just got home from work so going to call it a night

Victoria Harbour, ON

No sooner did I post above that my son called to invite me for something to eat .. DIL felt bad about me not getting any 'spareribs' so she cooked some..told them I'd come over BUT it would be eat and run...went out the front door only to find yet another surprise..last week it was your parcel, today a bouquet of flowers had been delivered from girlfriend Diane...how wonderful..had they been left out much longer they'd have froze..my 6 year old grand niece was at Greg/Mel's and she told me she was 6 so I told her if she added a zero, we'd be much the same age..had to add though NOT to do it next year as that would make me 70..she just laughed...had about 10 computer games geared for young girls so they followed me home and I gave them to her..she was just so excited...

Lovely Judy just called, sang me 'Happy Birthday' and in tune..my goodness she's on a 'HIGH' ..so nice to see..house full of company but took time to call..precious lady!!!

Know we're all worried about out Shar..would call her but am sure she's in bed, tucked in and medicated I hope..sending soft hugs and warm thoughts along with a few prayers...

Want to gab a little longer but I really am sooo tired! Know a few more calls are yet to come..I'll get settle for the night .. phone by my bedside..lol

So dear friends, I'm sorry if I've not responded to your post, please forgive..while resting at work tomorrow, I'll be sure to do so...

Night everyone

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

It's a little late in the day but HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETTY! I hope you had an awesome day. It certainly looks like it from all the boxes!

Ruby, thank you SO much for your kind and wise words. I have totally faith in Him but it is so hard to remember that when you start thinking of all the bad things that could happen. I kept myself busy plus I talked to my neighbor and asked her about her father and she knows of my anxiety so she was totally ok with it. She rested my fears by telling me they don't have a gas over so if they did use that to heat the place it was electric. Not saying that's any safer oe should be done but I just couldn't get the thought of carbon monoxide out of my head. Talking to her definitely helped. Thank you again Ruby!

I also, did a lot of sewing and am almost finished with the next quilt top. My DM was like "you better stop this or you're going to burn out on quilting". I laughed cause in a few weeks, the sewing gets put away till fall so no chance of getting tired of it. Anyway, I'll finish this one and when the ones I still have at the quilters are ready, I'll put the binding on those and then it for now.

So DH and I had a little fun tonight. Not the kid of fun we'd probably want to repeat.... I was fixing dinner - fettucini with vodka sauce and the pasta was cooking and I notice a little critter floating in the water. Well, that's it - down the disposal it all went. BIG MISTAKE! So, hot, wet noodle stick together like glue and sure enough, they clung together for dear life down the drain. Nothing would unstop it. We have this turbo plunger that DH used and all it did was splash nasty, yucky, pasta filled water all over my counters. We tried plunging both sinks at the same time - no luck. We tried running the disposal while plunging - no luck. So DH had to get down under the sick and take all the pipes off and then scrape out all the goop. It took forever! Hindsights 20/20 - the little bug would have just been a little bit of extra protein! Then I made it worse by going and watching TV while he's doing this (there really wasn't anything else to do!!) and I change the channel which made the DVR lose the NASCAR race he had been watching. Ooops! I'm gonna owe him big time!!

So I haven't done a BWL in awhile so here goes:

Best: getting to do all my stuff this weekend like sew and mess in the garden a bit PLUS having my DS arrive home safely!

Worst: Stopped up sink

Learned: don't put hot, wet pasta down the disposal unless you want a monster clog!

Happy Birthday again Betty!!!

Ciao!
Jeannine

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning..looks like milder temps have arrived, roads look wet, hopefully not icy..I drive in this morning on my own because I meet my family in Barrie for supper tonight, yet another festivity to look forward to..

I've a headache and yucky tummy..I usually stay quiet working on crafts/gardening and wonder if it's not the excitement..if I'm not feeling better in a few days I'll be at the Doctors'...they tell you when you get older you must have reg. check-ups...(60 lol)..

Forgot to tell you all..Jeff was looking at the beautiful painting on Sat. night and said 'Mom, those are some gorgeous looking women' so there! (and of course I added handsome man Herbie-just for you!)

Jeannine glad DS is back home..who would have thought about the pasta..something I would have done for sure..I often 'flush' food down the toilet but perhaps I'd better change my ways..so funny about DH and Nascar race..and I bet you changed it to watch a 'tear jerker' right?

Hope Shar has the strength to check in today..must really be ill to have put off 'Florida'..Shar, few words please just to let us know you are o.k. you'd be getting mega calls if it weren't for the fact that we'd be waking you up and we don't want to disturb your rest..

Liz, hope all the plumbing is done and problems no longer...did your helper stay sober???lol

Gita, send you an e-mail, hope you received it and enjoyed it...

Laura, guess you've spent the day working and now you'll soon be resting...look forward to seeing your sewing project..

All others, waving hi!

Talk later today...for now, must clean the craft room, disaster area and everyone coming today..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had a bit of freezing rain last night..roads are quite icy so we'll be going in but not leaving for an hour or so..makes for a shorter day!

Know you are suppose to 'stop and smell the roses/flowers' but I can't convince Missy just to smile...she's been eating the flowers upstairs, thought the ones in the rec. room would be safe, but apparently NOT!
Hope non are poisonous...

morning all,

shar, i hope your feeling better and resting

jeannine, omg you poor thing what a mess! dh told me years ago we had this super disposal installed, and it would take anything and not to be afraid of it...

your dh is a good sport awww, oh i glad all went well with ds, did he have a good time?

betty, oh good for you ,you got your ribs how sweet was that! omg the plumbing lol
yes they finished they ran the whole house up to the fixtures.
dh told them he will do that part later on, he had a small bottle of vodka he was sipping on, he had a radio on and was trying to sing along good god!
the sound was comming up through the floor sounded like a wounded animal, between that and all the grunting from him scooting around down there i thought i was going to lose my mind lol.
and speaking of doctors it only takes three days out of the year, one for female one for phyisical and one for pictures ok im done lecturing :)
oh look how cute the kitty is, from my angle it looks like she is stopping to smell the flowers.

judy,ha ha ha pointing fingers at you lol podgy queen

hi laura, are you done sewing yet?

hello to everyone else, have a wonderful day

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!

...Was beaurtiful to hear Betty so happy...lol glad you liked my singing..unlike Liz's plumber dudes.
Oh gosh, my house full of strangers, but they were a friendly group...Big happy smile as everyone wish US me and you too Betty A happy Birthday as well! Hehe, when we sang Happy birthday twice our names were added! Isn't that nice.

Now, I am really worried about Shar, Would call but afraid to disturb any sleep. Know I will call just to hear her pretty voice. Will wait impatiently till this afternoon.
Wispering Feel Better my friend.

House is clean...DH and I had to put the mother load of food away!! And I am so pouting because I cut up my finger on the foil. OUCH..no kidding, such a stupid thing but it really hurts!

Staying home today, LOL just because...uh sore finger, enjoying clean quiet house,

Laura, so glad you found out about your machine...Ahhh, finding the right needle. Silly isn't it? But I can imagine you happily sewing along. Hope what your making is lots of fun, can't wait to see!!

Well, Thinking about Rachel...You hooo where are you??

Hi to Ruby, Gita, Well and just to everyone...

Hhhahah...Podgy Qeen Strikes again...
Very funny story...Was gluing some info to birthday girls mega card...
DS comes along and pats me on the shoulder and says, wow surpirsed your not using Podge you r best firend!! LOL almost hit the floor!

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Liz -you zre so right on the potato peels! That is what I normally stop it up with. I mean, if you can't put stupid potato peels down the dag gum sink....! If I had a compost pile, I'd throw them in there. We have alway been able to get those out with the super plunger. Not the noodles though!

Betty, take care of your tummy. Sounds like you have some kind of flu bug. Can you stay home and take it easy??

I have my final exam tonight. Haven't started studying yet. If I start too early, it all just drains back out of my brain by time I get to class! But I have my "flash cards" with me here at work so I'll start soon. UGH!

Well, off to try and get some work done. Spring fever is starting to set in for me. It's going to get up to 70 today. I've already warned my bosses that I do get spring fever and just have to get out there and get my hands dirty!

Chat later!
Jeannine

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Quit worrying.....I have an appointment at 3:15 today. I guess I need a very strong antibiotic to knock this.

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Just a quick pop in. Hi everyone!

Want to get my dishes washed and plant a few seeds then it will be time to go to work. If I have time will pop in later.

No new dog. She was wonderful but not the fit for Ty. Now if we didn't have a dog we would of taken her in a flash. Thanks for the wishes.

Hope you have the day you need
Vicki

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Hi Sharon....Great to hear from you and that you are going to the doctor.
Hope you feel better soon.

Waving to all.........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank goodness you can see the doctor Shar..maybe a day or two of meds will help..worry about you..know we'd all love to live closer to be able to check in on you..hope you've someone to do so!

Hi Carol, guess your bags are packed as well...did you get any of the freezing rain we had this morning..waited till 8:30 to leave home..makes for a shorter day..lol

Vicki sorry to hear this new 'doggie' didn't fit the bill..best to wait (as you are doing) until the right dog is found..

Jeannine, good luck on your exam! Amen to the 'spring fever'

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

betty and shar, feel better soon.

hi to everyone..... plodding along... hate working some days but oh well. as my mother would say,"its better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick!" lol

xx

Victoria Harbour, ON

Laura don't you just love these old sayings..we can wait to see your project after your 'secret pal' gets one... no package arrive yet? other one got there in record time..

Ate lunch Laura, didn't agree with me..going to buffet tonight with family but I'd better watch what I eat...

Paul on vacation so I'd better not take any time off this week, especially since he paid me 'in advance'....lol...get your pay and run - right?

Crozet, VA

Ha Ha Laura - What sort of things did your mother say this to? I can't imagine.

I must have missed a second showing of the group all seated together on Betty's card. Betty would you mind re-posting or sending it to me through DMail? I want to see all the good looking women that your son commented on.

Gosh, everyone here is so busy. I have been really busy playing Susie Home Maker all week. Getting rid of clutter makes me want to do other things too it seems. I have vacuumed almost every day for the past week or so. I usually wait a little while in between.

Jeannine, too bad that you had to work today. It is a gorgeous day!!! I haven't been outside but have all the doors and windows open. It is so nice. We are supposed to have rain tomorrow. Oh well, every day can't be beautiful. Oh yeah, speaking of clogging up garbage disposal, I have learned to never put cabbage leaves down in mine. That always leads to a clog for me. For the past year or so I have been composting kitchen scraps and hardly ever run the disposal these days.

So glad that Sharran checked in. Get Well Soon Little Lady. So sorry that you couldn't make your trip. You would not have been able to enjoy yourself feeling badly though.

Hello to all others. I didn't make notes and can't remember all that I just read, so won't even try. I am getting ready to begin my vegging out part of the day, which consists of sitting on couch in front of TV and not doing much else for the rest of the day. Take care everyone!!!

Ruby

Victoria Harbour, ON

You deserve a rest Ruby, sounds as though you've been busy..must begin composting..with just myself there is probably very little I can compost (except the burnt food or the science projects I have in the refrigerator..

1/2 hour before I head north..think it's a bit much these past 5 days of celebrating..starting to be much too tired to enjoy..but, I'll try my best..lol

Jeff just sent me photo's of his snowmobiling with other son Greg and grandson Kyle and brother Mike..thought you might enjoy..

Not every year, but when right temps permit, Georgian Bay freezes over in parts of our region creating ice caves..this year has been one of those years..might go out this weekend to see for myself..looks like snow but it's really ice and some are about 20 - 30 ft. high and some have caves within caves..

I believe this is Kyle

rough ride in some of the region

winds were blowing..although these banks look like snow, they are pure ice..their friend Trevor who you have prayed for hit something similar..so it can be dangerous!

Most of the time though one feels as though they are travelling on another planet..everything so white, so quiet, so serene!

Checking in again.
Just returned from the doctor...
Long story short....flu which is going into viral pneumonia.

I had a breathing treatment, bloodwork, and x rays today.....also gave me a tamiflu capsule while there, and of course I barfed all the way home and again in the pharmacy.....

but I have enough meds to surely get well. It has been so long since I have been really sick, I was shocked at the cost of this antibiotic.

So now I am going to bed....and hope I will be a little better tomorrow.

Nite now.

Glenview, IL

Oh My Goodness Shar!
I am so glad you went to doctors.
Hope that antibiotics kicks in quickly...Get a good rest

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

That is very dangerous, I had pnuemonia one time with a flu and it was the sickest I ever remember besides Salmonilla(a real deadly kind of Salmonilla). You rest and don't get up, it could kill you if you don't take it easy. Sleep proped up a little to if possible so it won't fill up your lungs more.

Don't even talk to us until you feel better young lady.

BTW you all know that I skim a lot because of my schedule. Nobody gave me a dmail to know who my old secret pal is. Who are you so I can thank you properly?

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Dawn......you do skim, don't you......I sent the list out to everybody and it is posted above....but, just cause I know what a skimmer you are, and just cause we love you anyway...Gita had your name for SP for January and February.

I do sleep with tons of pillows propping me up, and also a big one under my knees.

Now I am going back to bed, you all have a good evening.....let's hope this creepy crud is going away by tomorrow.

Nite again.

(Cathy), MO

Feel better Sharon. And hello to everyone else. Hope you've all had a good day!

Pacifica, CA

evening all,

ruby i forgot to comment on the container lol, no i didnt make it,
i have to seen them in michaels to. ruby what is the secret? not rumaging back through things??

betty, wow is that snow incredible wow! looks like the boys are having a wonderful time,
hope your tummy is settling down.

shar, glad you got to the doctor and are on some medicine, oh you poor thing having such a rough time, hugs to you on a speedy recovery.

hi cat

hi dawn
everyone else have a great evening

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Betty,

Oh, my God!!!!! I have never seen snow like that--ever! So beautiful! So---fairy tale like!----Of course, I have followed all along with all the snow storms you have been having--but the pictures you posted---they are surreal! My jaw is hanging again.......

What's with your tummy? How come it is upset for such a long time? Might you have ulcers forming????? With all your nervous energy and go-go-go- and MUST get this done and that done life---I would not be surprised. I sure hope not, though. Learn to chill more!

Talking about garbage disposals getting clogged up------I learned a hard lesson ONCE! And NEVER again will I shove a pile of potato peels down the disposer! Cost me about $150 to have my drain roto-rootered. Now I compost everything--and seldom use the disposer either. Can't afford to do that too often!
I think a disposer needs some "roughage" in it to stay clean--but just in small amounts. It can still clog up from disuse. Had that happen once too--but then again--who knows how good my almost 40 year old underground pipes are??? Maybe all cracked and full of tree roots...

Shar--I am so sorry you have this awful problem! Please rest--and do whatever has to be done. I did not know VIRAL pneumonia could be treated with antibiotics???? Bacterial--yes.

I know, first hand, how sick pneumonia can make you. In 1972, one day, my husband was just laying on the bed saying he could not breathe. He said it felt like there was a belt around his chest. I took him to the hospital and he ended up staying in there for TWO weeks, as the first week they were treating him for the wrong type of pneumonia.
When he came home--his lungs were still slowly filling up with fluid. Went to the Dr.'s once, and he inserted a long needle in his side and drained out a liter of fluid. Slowly, though, the fluid kept forming again. The Dr. said he would not drain it again, as this fluid was almost pure protein(??) and if he did, my husband would have gone into shock. So, he had to bide his time until the body absorbed all this fluid.

The good part of all this was--that this was the time when we both quit smoking--for good!!! 1972! A banner year in more ways than one.

Falling asleep! Worked until 10PM. Last night, did not go to sleep easily. Tossed and turned. Had my clock set to get up at 6:45AM...Had an early dr.'s appt. Then went in to work at 2PM. Tired....tired.....
Tomorrow, my DD and I are going to the Science Center at the Inner Harbor to see the "Human Body" exhibit. Have a light lunch somewhere and such. Sort of MY Birthday outing!

OK! Off to bed! Gita

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

I wondered the same thing, gita, but the blood work indicated a high white blood count, so I guess the antibiotic is "just in case".

this is crazy, I sleep for an hour, then up for an hour....down then up.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Wow Gita, That must have been scary.

Shar there are days I read and catch up mostly, atleast 90% but with my schedule (I just finished my homework and it is 8:45my time. The last thing I want to do is spend an hour 1/2 reading posts just on this thread tonight. I do read and stay as current as I can and I have Fridays, Sat and Sundays sometimes, but then can't do everything.

I dmailed Cat who was my secret Pal and we have been talking since. Sorry Gita I didn't know it was you, but I have been dieing to know who made me such great and fragrant sachets. I haven't used the cards yet, but have tons of recipes to transfer from newspapers and magazines all a mess above my stove, so Thanks so much.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all..

Waving Cat and Ruby, going to take the picture and have it photo copied and will mail to all..my camera just isn't picking up the full beauty of it...

Shar, how dreadful feeling as you do, are the meds helping in any way? so good to see you post..we were all worried about you especially having to cancel a Florida vacation...someone checking in on you I hope?

Gita, glad you enjoyed the photo's...my brother last night was explaining a bit of it..Giants Tomb is a large island semi Georgian Bay and semi Lake Huron..the bay is more apt to freeze but not Lake Huron, so when the large waves come into the bay it hits the ice which has formed in Georgian Bay and as it splashes, it freezes and forms ice features Mike says as high at 50 feet..these photo's he says were about 30..

Dawn, know you have a busy schedule and appreciate your dropping in..half the posts are me entertaining myself..so as Shar says, join in when possible, read what you can and the rest just "FAKE"...lol

Liz bet you are thrilled you'll not have problems with the underground piping any more...glad the maintenance man was just taking sips..lol

Had a lovely visit with family last night at the Market Buffet, didn't know nieces and nephews would be there as well...once again I was spoilt..got some 'blow' money as my Mike refers to it...fighting nausea like crazy all the way home, came in, took some gravol and off to bed, didn't even post..

But my best...celebrating birthday with my family (again)
Worse..trying to get rid of this queazy tummy..probably just a virus that I'm able to fight so just getting the tail end...
What did I learn..getting an update on everyones lives at supper last night..niece Michelle/hubby Peter just bought a new home, DB Mike and SIL leaving for a cruise next week, sister is winning many awards for her dogs, DB Bernie not feeling the best, back is going..Char is going to race her horses this year..Nikki won award in singing and for her piano..Andrew got hired on with Toronto municipality and bought a condo...so all is well with family...
