We were on the lanai in son's condo. I can see now how very ill Bob was, but at the time, I was not aware. Will send you another to compare it to in a minute.
Here is another from the October 06, only six months before the florida trip last March:

had my last night class today and was literally in school all day and got home at 9:20 p.m.
I tried to read all the day but it just isn't possibble, to comment on all. Nobody get offended.
Liz is hereby nominated for St. Hood. lol
Morning, making a quick stop in here with my coffee, snowing ever so lightly but the storm was to hit the city so off to listen to the newscast..will gab when I get to work...
(unless someone calls to say 'stay home' - unlikely lol)
Shar..I loved those photo's..wonderful that Bob got to spend time with Ethan...memories ARE great things to one one through the rest of eternity...
Talk later
Wow Liz, I am with the others, you should be nominated for Sainthood. So glad that is over for you. I am like your hubby was that night that you two were in bed. I would have to just sit and chuckle at the scenario, because other wise I would be pulling my hair out.
I know that there are several that I want to acknowledge after reading through this but will forget. Hello to everyone and I hope that everyone will ahve a great day. Betty, you were really doing your homework recently it seems. All the little inspirational tidbuts that you shared to day great. Thanks for the words to me regarding the organizing. I didn't get anything done yesterday, but was able to take a trash bag full of things to local donation shop. That is a small step for me. Today I plan t get together some more things that I know can go to donation too. I can hardly open my undie and pajama drawers in the dresser. I have a lot of each and end up usually just using a few of each. A lot of that stuff can go too.
Sharran, wonderfukl pictures. Knowing illness first hand I can see the suffering in your husband's eyes. The sparkle is gone out of them. The eyes tell me that at that point in time he is at a give up and give in stage of suffering. Yes indeed, you are doing great to be able to share the pictures with us and talk about your husband. You are a very attractive woman, I love your hair. And good going on the level racks that you installed.
Speaking of husbands, I missed hearing about murmur's husband. Could someone very quickly bring me up to date? Welcome here murmur. I am new here for about a month or so now. I find all othe ladies very nice and encouraging. Good for my ego to come here. ha-ha
Gardengirl, Van Halen made our local paper today. There is a rumor going around that some of the band members were at a local club on Thursday evening before the Friday concert and there was a fight between them and that is the reason the concert was postponed. Who knows, but evidently it is all over the net.
Hi to everyone else. I enjoy reading your posts so much. Judy, just to say that you are such a cheer leader for t his group. It would be very quiet and boring without you here.
Will check back from time to time today as I straghten house. I am having a Dave's Gardener come later today to spend the night so that she can get to her early morning doctors visit at The University of Virginia. Her name is Darius in case some of you may know her from here. She has stayed overnight here several times already. She is a very interesting woman I have enjoyed her short visits.
Gita, so sorry that I missed the seed swap. It looks as though everyone had a great time.
Later ladies.
Ruby
Ruby, say hi to Darius for all of us..am sure all have come across her posts from time to time...
Snowing here, more to come later in the day..nice travelling in..Suzanne working late tonight so I'll hitch a ride with the nieces...
Ooops, restaurant just called to tell me my western sandwich is ready..be back
Yum, yum,
Ruby
Liz---Re starting the seeds....
Jiffy-pots are OK, BUT--when you plant them in the beds, sometimes the roots have a hard time growing through the mesh on the outside. You would have to break it apart, but that might damage some of the roots. This has been known to be an "issue" with peat pots.
I think if you want to seed directly in a pot, use a small plastic pot--3" or 4". That way, it can grow in there until it is 4"-5" tall and then plant it in the beds. Clay pots might be too drying for Daturas.
Shar--Love that mop of blond hair you had/have! You are one good-looking lady! No wonder Ethan is such a doll! Look at the genes he has to grow on!
Betty--How many cups of coffee do you drink a day? Seems you're always either having coffee or a bath.
Had to get up early today for an 8AM phone interview as the Unemployment people are fussing with me that I am NOT actively searching for another job. Said it says in their "system" that I am supposed to. I said "no!" as I when I signed up for unemployment, I was told that since I am over 60, that I am not required to do so,
Some "Agency" (that HD employs) has also told the Unemployment office here (Who knows where the "Agency" is???--probably in Chicago somewhere...) that I have been permanently laid off. That is not true--at least no one has told me! I know I have some hours next week!
So, now I have to have my HR, or a manager, fax the Dept. of Labor saying that i AM subject to recall and give them a date when I will be back at work. I am waiting to call my HD when our HR comes in.
The worst that can happen is, of course, that I actually AM laid off, but don't you think someone would have told me that? Besides--I am hoping to still be on their books as an employee, as after March 16th I will have been there 10 years and am eligible for a longevity bonus of $500 (because I am PT) . FT'ers would get $1000. I don't want to lose that! After taxes, I would still get about $350 or so. Nice spending money for my trip!
If the DLLR wants to fuss with me after they receive the "proof" that I actually AM still employed there,I will just lose the measly money they are paying me for NOT working. I AM NOT going out, at my age, and start looking for any new jobs!
Then I can just bide my time and come into work when they give me hours. OR--If I get tired of all this c--p, I can quit myself and be a free woman. Having spent all this time at home--I kind of like that feeling.....NO schedule conflicts! I am sure, eventually, I will find some way to make a few extra bucks along the way. I will be OK even if i don't! I get alimony, some SS, and starting this year, also a little bit from my IRA under the mandatory minimum disbursement. HAVE TO take it this year!
Don't think I would miss the work--but I would miss the people there.
My tummy is growling at me--Gotta go have a bite to eat....
Gita
morning all,

shar, ment to tell you whoo hoo level shelves are a good thing that is one of dh's pet peeves always says is it level?
everyone else have a wonderful day
Gita, how frustrating..am sure once your HD employer sends info pertaining to yourworking part-time all will work out..are there any small nurseries in your area..you've such a wealth of information..always enjoy the knowledge you post..I read it, doesn't always sink in but perhaps one day a bell will ring and I'll say "I remember Gita telling me this!"
As for coffee, I usually have one in the morning to give me energy while I get up and at it..one on the way to work, then as I did this morning, am having a coffee and sandwich for breakfast...not every night, but if I have a treat waiting for me, I'll make a cup...
I'm very healthy but often when I'm cold or tired, nothing will warm me up so I'll have a hot blistering bath..sometimes twice in an evening..lol then each and every morning ..the odd time I'll have one through the day, depending what project I'm working on..so, I'm nice and clean..lol..
I was so hungry, that western hit the spot..got home last night and Noah and Melanie arrived, then went upstairs and an 'earthly angel' had dropped off a dozen of homemade peanut butter cookies, well, there are no longer a dozen...did leave some for tonight though..
Ruby, going to get the site that I enjoy getting ideas from with regards to organization..I laughed at Kyle & Noah last Christmas..ordered an album which gives you guidelines of 'to do' to prepare a stress free Christmas...so one day when the boys were at the house we were going through the album..one page had a list so you could fill out what shows you wanted to watch throughout the day...they thought that was a bit over the wall..lol anyway..will post the site when I find it in my favorites...
Have the webcam on with DS Sharon..she was in Cuba last week, 2nd day fell down an incline and was bedridden (or laying on the beach without being able to move), she was showing me her injury..omg half of the skin is off her legs...she has osteo really bad, I'm amazed nothing is broken...
Watch out for my postings, I'm already bored today..so, just skip over them if you wish..it will just fill in some time...
Thought this was interesting:
Shouting at a bud does not make a flower blossom more.
Myoki Lehrhaupt
When I read this, I immediately thought of how often I raise my voice
when I'm frustrated with my children. It's so easy to forget that my
goal as a mom is not merely to get them to do what I tell them to, but
to help them bloom into emotionally healthy, peaceful, and productive
adults. Next time I start to yell and they start to wither before my
very eyes, I hope to remember this quote. It's never too late to
apologize and start again.
Ruby, I get updates from this site..I joined (free) and get a newsletter update at least once a month..terrific information...maybe you'd enjoy browsing..
http://www.getorganizednow.com/
scroll down and you will see areas that you 'click' on go ... I usually print out and do the monthly task list at least where it pertains to me...I treat it as a game and I'm usually right up in the cleaning dept. (not my woodworking shop though) lol

Ha! Hair.
Why is it we are never satisfied with what we have? Yep, I do have a ton of hair. And I am not sure why. Over the years it has been subjected to every chemical and process known to man. It started with the orange juice can when I was in high school and college. The hair was long then, and curly. The style was also long, but straight. Think 60's. The orange juice can was great for rolling hair so that it would dry straight. Great for the popular bouffant until I could get it long enough for the next step. The problem with the orange juice cans, was that my hair was thick, it took a long time to dry, so I would either roll it around the cans early in the morning and there it stayed all day, me looking like I came straight from outer space....or I could do it at night at which point this head could never touch a pillow. Who could sleep on a head full of orange juice cans?
The next phase was the red hot iron, the ironing board, and the smell of singed hair.
But that is another chapter......not so far removed from the agony of tight french braids that my mother plaited down my head to try and pull the curl out. Well, of course the french braids corkscrewed. What'd you expect?
LOL, omg Shar...never heard of 'orange cans' can just picture it..only thing I ever did was pouring a can of beer over my hair and setting it..closest I eveer came to a 'beer'..lol
The beer worked the same with the orange juice cans. It stiffened the hair enough that it only had a huge bump in it coming from my head outward where it had been held wound around the OJ can. The cans were held together by a long clip or sometimes even a clothespin, so that they didn't come loose from up against my head. Usually took my hair a good 24 hours to dry. You couldn't use a dryer for long on it, because the juice cans would get too hot, and there is nothing worse than a scalded scalp, and sizzling hair. That style was called the BUBBLE!
Ahhhh geesh, what we do for beauty.
Shar!
WHY does everyone that has naturally curly hair hate it?
I have thin, limp and straight hair and have to use the curling iron every day--if I go outside the house.
I keep my hair short--can't picture stringy long hair at my age!
When I wash my hair--it dries in about 2-3 minutes.....:o)
Gita
Everyone hates her hair, I think. It's gotta be a woman thing. My mother thought it should be straight, so I thought it should be straight. When I got to college, straight was the thing to be! Think hippies.
Mom would braid it so tightly that my eyes squinted. And it didn't matter because the braids would corkscrew by the end of the day. Plus it gave me headaches. I was an outside child, and by the end of the day, Mom would swear I had bugs living in my wild hair. Probably did. The worst was the year of the Bubble Head...geesh. You will never see photos of that one.
The year of Ironed Hair was another phase.
I remember being very happy during the year of the Afro....first time ever that my hair didn't smell scorched or of beer.
Pretty funny now that I think of it.
I have alwasys had naturally curly hair too and hated it growing up. I didn't do orange juice cans but did most of the other stuff trying to get rid of curls. I have been able to appreciate it the past few years. I wear mine short and am in great need of trim as we speak. Will call tomorrow for an appointment. My hair is not thick, it is very thin and fine.
Betty, thank you so much for the link to Get Organized Now. I used to have the website on my desktop. I haven't referred to it for along time now. I will keep in on desktop and begin referring to it.
I have been washing bed clothes this morning and cooking up some beef for later in the week when I plan to make vegetable soup. I started pulling stuff out of undie drawer and couldn't believe how many of the soft ballet style slipper booties I own. Some of them are in rough shape and need to go to trash. That one drawer is probably all that I will get to today. I still want to vacuum and possibly nap before Darius gets here today.
We are having rain today which is needed but it makes it so ugly. Hope everyone is having an enjoyable day.
Ruby
One drawer at a time Ruby..before you know it all will be organized and you'll wonder what to do with your time...
Was going back on old threads..found a beautiful copper trellis that if I made 2 it could be an arbor..so have it printed..going to call Greg tonight and see when his men do work if they could keep the copper pieces..a thought anyway..if not I'll buy some lengths...springs coming and I need outdoor art..lol
then visited another site that Starzz (Carol) was on..it had garden sayings..I could be making a zillion garden signs, stick them on my lawn and sell them...no, just kidding but will do a few for my yard...
here's is a couple I'll do:
Knock - if no one answers "WEED" please!
One to place near the birdbath:
Don't look - birds bathing!
Not sure where this one will go, but I thought it to be amusing...
When taking my last ride in a hearse
May I still reach out to take a cutting of the wreath!
Then I'm going to put up the B&B sign first thing this spring, thought maybe in the insert I could include the following:
"You are welcome here
Be at your ease!
Get up when you're ready,
Go to bed when you please!
Happy to share with you
Such as I've got!
The leaks in the roof
The soup in the pot!
You don't have to thank me
Or laugh at my jokes
Sit deep and come often
You are 'one of the folks'
Cute isn't it...I need a real job..one that allows me to work..day is so very long..can't imagine how I'd fill it if it were not for you all...
Betty,
I c/p the Biblical Herbs article on my Mid Atlantis Forum and couple of people are thanking me profusely. They want to include it in "Talks" and others want to just copy it out.
Thanks!
Starzz--
Would you post the link to that site with the garden Sayings? They are so cute!
Ruby,
PLEASE, PLEASE take a picture of you and Darius! When I first joined DG, she once posted a beautiful picture that I copied out. Darius was standing by a large mirror, wine glass in hand and looking at the camera through the mirror. I always thought what a classy lady she is and what a beautiful picture that was.
Ask her if she remembers?
Thanks, Gita
Dear Sweet Ruby,
...I wish to share this story with you.
Not so very long ago at all, I wandered around DG aimlessly and lost, so overwhelemed by the enormity. I tried very hard to get into conversations and little groups that interested me. I just couldn't keep up. One day I saw Bettypauze post and was so delighted that there was a person who was so loving and encouraging...I read for the longest time and the one day I decided to get brave and chime into the conversation...is right around the time the Creep who shall remain nameless did what they did. I backed off again. I can't even tell you how infuriated this made me. Well, anyway I read BWL for a long time...I just couldn't get over that there was this one person That could make me smile just by her loving words of friendship and encouragment to all these strangers. One day, I posted my thoughts on a thread and her response lifted my spirits to the fact I can be myself. So I d-mailed Betty. For quite a while this was the only way we chatted. Then one day i "braved" up and began posting, right here in BWL...It is soley with the Cheering of this "quiet" LOL, group of ladies who have helped me from a very dark and deep hole I was in. It is because of this group, That I feel i can be MYSELF for who I am, gabby, nosey, and full of mischif, and It is this little group that keeps my world Happy. Until only a short month ago Did I realize the strength in the friendships you have all Given me. So, each of us will continue to Cheer eachother on, with Worst, Best, and Learned.
Because since I have met you all...This is the Best
Worst, would have been if I didn't d-mail Betty
Learned, I am most glad to bring a smile into your lives...Because you make me smile every single day...This post comes no where close to what is actually all that is in my heart but LOL, I hope you get what i am trying to say.
hahah,Orange juice cans for rollers?? Beer in your hair?? Braids so tight they curl, They call that dredlocks today..Funny, you gals set the styles for today...and these kids think they thought of it! Ha.
Sweet post, Seed. Funny you should mention dredlocks. Whenever I still go out on son's boat with him, after the wind and the moisture that comes with boating, he never fails to remind me when we return, "Mom, you got dreaded locks again!"
He started that when he was about ten and we had first started boating.
Oh that is funny...you mentioned the afro phase, LOL I had a body wave once...the thing was my hair is SO so straight and thick. Well, only half my head took to the wave, So went back and the gal did my hair again...Holey cow, I looked like a gang member from a bad movie!!! I cried and cried, for weeks I wore a hat...Finally had it straightened again, LOL never ever wanted curley hair again, so straight it is. hahah, just asked liz about coloring as it is getting White, but now second thinking i think I'll just let it go white!
Go out to lunch and look what happens, Judy's back putting tears in my eyes...we're ALL a fine bunch aren't we..is this what's called leading the
' all for one and one for all '..something of the sort right?
We're one of the best groups of individuals I've ever come across, I praise you all each and every day..so know you truly are part of our family...thanks Judy-you've such a way with words...
With regards to hair, only thing I ever did was become a blonde..might have stayed that way but lordy, too many $$$ to keep it up..and then about 5 years ago the beautician talked me into doing 'reverse streaking' wow, I had red, orange, blue and green hair..didn't go out for at least a month...so not going to try to make myself look younger..lol staying old...
Ruby, went back and found the sign thread..so many cute ones, it's hard to pick from...
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/494385/
