Called Bernie, no changes to report on Mathew..still critical, so prayers please!

Greg just came and was satisfied with the repair job to his 'floater' suit..lol..better be, took me a few hours tonight.. I spoil him too much lol

Judy, have your guests arrived..sure hope weather in your area is better than that of the east coast...sure wish I could have sent her some of this snow...Yes I had fun shopping today, got some 'bargooons' lol

Ruby..yes loosing DH was difficult and then of course my 2nd marriage ended badly, he is a wonderful man, I had everything I could want, just too bad he built a house next door for DD...beginning of the end..but that's in the past, a time for everything and once it's done we have to move on or perish..thanks to wonderful friends I've survived and better for it...so I have a great respect for 'friendship'as you may have read...how's the cleaning coming?

Hello Trop..I'm going in search of Gillian and your daughter in the painting...Judy is just so 'sneaky'..

Jeannine, talk about workmanship..my favorite is the 'cat'..you are almost tempting me to attend the Toronto Sewing & Quilting Show..so how many kits did your mom and you come home with? Glad you are in and safe tonight..keep hearing about all the planes cancelled here because of the weather you are having..best you just enjoy your evening and entertain us..

As we're gabbing about cats, my computer is in a small room as you enter my craft room, nice place to hang out..it fits one of my knitting machines, so while I'm typing I can hear the cats hiss..you know what, I've got a thief in the house..lol now I've got wool all over the floor...

oooh! I am getting so mad that I keep trying to post and they are not there!!!!!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

GG,

So! Maybe i am behind times, but to me quilting is putting a bunch of squares, stars and stiched together designs and making a quilt out of them.

I am speechless with all 5the ones you have shown here!!!!!! Please explain how all the pictures are done? Is every feature, every leaf, every animal or bird from little pieces of fabric that you put together or are these the Quilt kits that you mentioned earlier?????
Please!!!!! It is driving me crazy to think that you actually pieced every one of these together.

I LOVE "Birdie"! The stitching (quilting?) all around the face is so great and detailed. Is that waht someone else does when you said you "take them to be quilted"??

Amazing!!!!! Just amazing--and beautiful!!!!!!

Have you guys seen this video?

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Gita, yes a lot of what you see are little pieces sewn or appliqued on and then quilted. The quilting also makes the picture such as the lines in Birdie's face. A lot of what I'm posting is machine quilted but there was also a lot that were actually handquilted. Most of these quiltes have been appraised in the upper thousands of dollars.

I do quilt Jeannine, infact Mom purchased one of the new quilting frames for me..my sister quilts and has won some of the highest awards..it's just that I've so many things on the go that I'd not have the time...

As I said, mom cross-stitched a quilt top for me last year for my birthday, Aunt Muriel said she'd quilt it for me but her hands are tired so I hate to have her do it, know she would but, rather find another way...

I will try to find someone around here who will machine quilt it...right now it's in 2 panels, need to sew them together to match..actually I still have my sewing machine out so tomorrow just might be the day..I pinned the two sides together and threw it on the spare bed a few minutes ago so I could take photo to show you the work..they don't look nice until quilted do they..how much for a king size quilt, do you have any idea what they charge for the quilting of that size???

It's just so beautiful...takes patience though...

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Ahhhhhh, GG....Now I just pulled out my sewing machines, tomorrow I am going through fabric. As if I have time......

There as a woman who is part of the Paducah quilters, she has a shop there, btw, and she does some amazing fabric dying. I will see if I can find a website.

Yes I have seen the youtube clip from Oprah. Broke my heart, but how admirable.

I am speechless Jeannine. I absolutely LOVE several of them. I am impressed with all of them, in the thumbnail they look like paintings or puzzles. WoW!!

I am still excited about Betty's party too. I was cracking up at the franticness we were feeling because we were so excited. We had no clue where in the heck she was.

Jeannine I wanted to see how Wolfgang was playing with his dad. I want to hear about the concert when it gets resceduled.

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Thank you everyone! I really enjoyed looking at all the quilts. The ones I took pictures of is only a very small fraction of what was there. Some while excellently done, were not my taste, so I didn't take pictures of those. And others I didn't even get to!

Well, I'm off on my fieldtrip to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens! I'll chat with y'all tonight!!

Jeannine

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jeannine they were absolutely fantastic..omg don't you just want to go crazy when attending these show..I usually leave my c.c.'s and interact card at home, just bring an allowed amount of money, but then, in a blink of an eye I'm asking friends to charge it and then I pay them when I get home...lol..

Botanical Gardens, are you allowed to take pictures inside..know some places forbit phtographing...

It's a bright morning, although it's cold, going to play in the house not sure what I'll be up to, could finish putting the metal bodies to the butterflies and maybe start my window hanging..must go to post office though..I've much to post...

Enjoy your day..I'll drop in from time to time..

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Morning all,
Gillian..wonderful to see your happy face with your Secret pal goodies. What a unique necklace..and a great scarf too.

Ves..you have a a way with words.. I have borrowed your "you have the day you need"
Have I ever mentioned the one my friend uses.."Stay in the Light". I am excited that she will be visiting me for three day. I pick her up at the train station tomorrow. I have been making things spiffy for her arrival.

Judy hope you are having fun with your grand nephew..

Sharon..speaking of popcorn and icy soft drinks..that is exactly what I had last evening while I watched a movie..LOL..a chick flick..Two Weeks Notice with Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock. I borrow DVD's form the library ocassionally.

My friend who is coming to visit loves movies..has seen all the new ones and we are going to watch the Oscars on Sunday evening. I even found score sheets online to print out. I never go to a movie theatre..and haven't seen any of the nominated movies...but I still like to watch the people.

Jeannine..those quilts are like pieces of art..amazing the patience that one must have to create them. Your favorite with the open garden door is one that "speaks to me" as well. Your enthusiasim shows through to us..wonderful... and to think you can share this with your Mom.

Ruby..thanks for telling us about the organizer lady and her suggestions. I am one fo those people who keep all the magazines.."Just in case" LOL..recently I forced myself to put a big stack out to recycle..but you know what happens..as you are sorting through them you stop to have a look..and it takes hours..LOL
..

Hey Trop..how is Sylvio doing? Has Alice Cooper accepted him yet?

Laura..so nice to hear you getitng a bit of fun time with your daughter's..and that you are feeling better.

Cat..I just saw on the TV that there is a flu strain going around in the U.S...they even used the word epidemic..didn't quite catch it all..
hope you are recovering your strength.

Hi Dawn..are you feeling better?

Sharon..are you going to do a bit of quilting?..Painting with fabric.. :)

It is -14c but sunny here right now..they say it is supposed to go up to -3c today.. My thermometer that I have set that shows the temp in .f degrees says it is 8.6f right now. I still think in .f degrees..have to keep converting in my head.

Ok.......bye for now..Betty..stay warm and cozy.......

Cheers,
Carol
