Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - Sprng Training

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Yes.

Go to MY INFO, scroll down to MANAGE YOUR PREFERENCES. When that page comes up scroll down on the right side to ADS. When that comes up just uncheck the box to watch ads.

Let me know how it worked for you, please.

Yes Pirl ! The pages load much faster also TY TY......

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Great. I'm so glad I could help.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

They should make no ads the default setting for subscribers.

Ahh...... Whats almost a year?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Well, now it's over and you can rejoice in not seeing the ads again.

The snow is almost gone. Of course, the first place it disappeared was over the cesspool. I always think of Erma Bombeck, and her book, when I see the big green area surrounded by white - "The Grass is Always Greener over the Septic Tank". Hard to believe she's gone 11 years now.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I remember when that book came out.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

When the afternoon paper (remember those days?) arrived it was time to sit and have a cup of tea while reading her columns.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

She always had a funny take on things.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Erma is my hero

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

I'm so glad I found out how to get rid of ads THANK-YOU!. That thing was driving me nuts.

Erma was freat, took every day stuff and made you look at it in a funny way. The snow does always melt first over the septic tank and the grass is greener. LOL

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

She had a line that was so funny, about her husband - "All you want is a gorilla who can cook with a can opener tied to his waist". Her poignant colums were excellent, too. I cut out and saved many of them but the best had to be the one about "Mother of the Year".

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Remind me, Pirl, please....
of course I forgot.

New York & Terrell, TX(Zone 8b)

Sharran,

I couldn't find one story I liked better than another; so I'll send you these rantings:

"Mother of the Year" by Erma Bombeck http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Mother+of+the+Year%22+by+Erma+Bombeck&btnG=Search

Anyway it's better to have a collage to better understand it's reasoning.

anyone see this? http://youtube.com/watch?v=GUHLa1qSy24
Pretty cute.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Amazing how fast 100 years can go by.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

One week to daylight savings! We have to get through another snowstorm tonight. Spring - where are you?? I keep seeing all these nice flowers already on the photos forum - from England, the south, California...

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I spotted crocus foliage so the real thing can't be far away.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I probably have foliage too. Only flowers so far are the snowdrops.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I posted this on one of the beginners threads because we were complaining about squirrels digging up bulbs or worse. I found this... figure even if it doesn't keep them away for long it's very entertaining!
I had no responses, weird.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Funny! When I saw "nascar" in the title I had images of something far worse.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

that may have been pretty funny too, more like a demolition derby.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Flying squirrels! Is there a large one for deer?

Yonkers, NY(Zone 5b)

AWWWWW!
Poor babies.
I like my squirrels!
:o(

Nancy

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

If they only stole the fallen birdseed, if they never dug where I had just planted one of my treasures, if they wouldn't unearth my labels...I might enjoy their antics.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I like squirrels, too. I give them hot water in the bridbaths when it is freezing.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You are welcome to mine, Nancy and Cat! Deer too.

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Jen - that is absolutely perfect! I am seriously considering making one. And Victor, I'd like a deer-sized one, too!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

How about getting a Deerhound to protect your garden? http://www.deerhound.org/history.shtml

Greensboro, AL

Grace. Dignity. and Beauty.

They forgot: "faster than a speeding bullet".

My little greyhound is guarding my pecan tree now. No squirrel dare climb that tree!

A giant greyhound like the Scottish Deerhound would be formidable!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice - but we're cat people and dogs are a lot of work, though I do like them. Guess who would get stuck with it??

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

I like dogs, too, but they're worse than kids. They don't grow up and move out like kids do!

My three cats are enough to keep the majority of squirrels at bay.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

gabagoo, Cat- you can have all my squirrels! I'll send them air mail. lol

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Jen, might these be considered "launched squirrels"???

As a point of consideration: Although they are cpmparable to teenage boys for their ability to consume quantities of food, Dogs do not need to borrow the car, require cash, or forget to do their chores.

Yonkers, NY(Zone 5b)

Check this out!

It's so cool... and funny.
Over 200 people walking through Grand Central - stop dead in their tracks for 5 minutes.

Make sure you have your sound on to hear the comments of the other (moving) people who are trying to figure out what the heck is going on.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I just saw that recently Nancy. It was teriffic!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Thanks Nancy!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

What fun! Thanks, Nancy!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

That was great!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cool. I've seen similar things from them or others. They did a similar thing in a large store in NYC where they moved at a snail pace. In another one, they went to Barnes and Noble and checked their backpacks, with their cell phones inside. Then someone called all of them at the same time.

I had dinner at a great place last night. It was where the Brit (Major Andre) who conspired with Benedict Arnold was held. He was hanged up the hill behind the place. I was hoping to see a ghost but didn't.
