I wonder if the same questions exist regarding the chewable Zicam tablets? Maybe I should have my DH not take any more! Yikes. Thanks for sharing that info, Victor!
Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - Sprng Training
Victor you did it again. You must have a super speed searcher!
I believe the modern theory of how to protect yourself from flu and colds is to keep your levels of antioxidants super high so that your immune system resists the viruses. (This according to people like Dr. Oz, and Dr. Weil).
Antioxidants are things like vitamin C, vitamin E, resveratrol (grapeseed extract), blackberry juice, pomegranate juice, blueberries, green tea, etc.
Actually a broad spectrum of brightly colored vegetables and fruits would/should keep your immune system functioning.
Yes - been taking antioxidants for years and favoring the 'right' veggies for that, as well as the phytochemicals, etc. The cruciferous veggies are important too. Most veggies are great!
Well. Do you get sick?
Sure - but not too often.
Me either. Not often. I sort of get "rumblings" once in a while, but they go away in a day or two.
A bit tougher when you're around kids. They are exposed to so much.
That's when we started to get all our colds- as soon as my son went into prek. RE: the zicam, my hubby has no sense (of smell) anyway.
I wonder how often they were using it? We use the melt-aways, anyway.
It seems like it was only the spray that was the problem.
I used to have the 4th grade classes in the area come to the historic house where I worked. When the kids came, that's when I would get the rumblings -- maybe Im getting sick. Usually went away though.
I think it is good to be exposed to all those childhood diseases. I builds up your immunity even more -- even if it means getting a cold or flu once in a while.
By the time you are 70 or so you have been exposed to everything and you stay healthier.
Expose yourself to a kid today! No JD I don't mean in an obscene way!
Made it through the night. Things were not as prepared as i thought they were going to be, so i had to wait for a lot of other work to get done, and it was a longer night than expected.
Definitely getting some kind of icky chest/throat congestion. Went to the store and got cough medicine and sugar free Halls. blech.
Tomorrow is going to be a loonnnggg day.
Good, the extra time helps take away the jitters sometimes.
I take cold-ez at the first sign of a cold... maybe it helps. ☺
Congrats, Amy. Hope you feel better.
Maybe being a hermit isn't all that bad. I haven't had a cold or the sniffles all winter.
Lot of people at work have had the flu, so far not me. One more week of dealing with their germs before vacation. I plan on staying healthy.
I don't take vitamins, no meds, no emergen-C or anything like it. I also don't drink juice, or eat fruits on a daily basis and very, very seldom get sick. Juice makes me stomach sour...to much acid and is also why I can't eat fruit on a daily basis but do eat chocolate daily. I like most fruits, they just don't like me except for berries, they don't bother me. I do eat lots of veggies, like everything but Lima Beans. I am kind of a hermit, at least in the snow-on-the-ground months. I kiss my DGD no matter how sick they are(one has a bad case of strep right now) and never seem to get anything. My Mother was the same way....she threw up 2 X in 31 years, one of those times was due to her Chemo. I have been very lucky in that aspect and hope it contiunes to a ripe old age!!
Must be the chocolate!
Thats my motto Yank..."A little chocolate every day keeps the doctor away!"
I don't take vitamins or anything but food and liquids. I used to work for a dentist. People would come in sick, sicker and sickest. It seems like I developed an immunity to most, as I did not get sick. I still don't get sick. Last time I drank that 1/2 bottle of Nyquil was like 8 years ago.
To be honest, I think it was the 5 kids and school activities, friends, ect... I built up a strong immunity too.
I tried Allison's YouTube hydrogen peroxide in the ears remedy........no fever this morning, and I do think my sinus's are clearer....still got the chest congestion.....My DH took Victor's HP gargle yesterday and last night......it looks like he may have stopped the onslaught for now. Thanks Guys! Amy.....give the HP a try......I hope it works for you too!!
i Vicks-ed myself last night, and with the cough syrup and cold medicine, and drinking what seems to be gallons of water, i feel better this morning.
Think of me when y'all are watching the Oscars, and i am stuck in rehearsal...
sigh.
"break a leg" Amethystsm.
Victor, we need to forward this thread - think of a good name for a sequel to "Spring Training"!
Have fun Amy. I haven't watched the Oscars in about 20 yrs.
How about "Spring Break"
We just passed 300 posts without many photos so we have time yet. We still get posts on some of the other scat threads that have 600 or so posts!
By then it will be Spring Break.
Gloria, I hate to remind you, but your teaching days are over and you nor I get any more spring breaks, you know.
It's always Spring Break now!
Good luck Amy!
YAY. Victor. Spring Break FOREVER!
Everyday's Saturday and every night's Friday night.
That's nice!
Good luck, Amy!! How did the show at the Phil in Naples go for your DH???
Isn't there a way to turn it off? I never get any ads.
I think it's somehow connected with your home page and there you have the option of turning it off. I'll check out my own home page and report what I find.
I think it's in preferences somewhere. I get no ads.
