Sometimes these weather sites are really inaccurate. Our winter storm warning still says only a "Only a few hundredths of an inch of ice accumulation is anticipated before the precipitation ends." My normally upright birch might disagree . . .
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 12
Looks painful!
Raining hard today, wind still out of SSE at 22mph and temp at 47 degrees. But no snow or ice. Grass is greening up. Too strange. Patti
poor birch
Its dark, windy and rain rain and more rain. Backyard has that swimming pool look to it and it just keeps coming down. Al the snow from last night has pretty much been washed away. No where for this rain to go, got the pump working here too.
My back used to be able to do that. The birch is about as old as I am, and I don't think either of us are meant to contort like that anymore. :- )
Onewish1, what a great shot. I never have a camera when these beautiful critters dash through and by the time I've got one, they are gone.
Nice photo, Allison.
Cool shots of Mr Fox, Allison! Watch out for your little Yorkies!!
We had a T.V. almost hit the house today with the strange wind. I was startled to see a glimpse of some huge wings flash past my window, then DH came in from the other room where he saw it clearly and told me what it was. Why it was so low and over our yard made me wonder what carcass was near by. But we never saw it again today.
Love seeing the fox. We see them in VT along with wild turkey's. I wonder if they can take down a turkey? Cats go missing a lot. We have Bob Cats that go after small pets. Had a gorgeous one a few years back in the snow across our brook for a good hour. It seemed to be waiting for birds. Patti
I wondered for a while at the T.V. flying by, until i clued in to the bird version :))
OH!
i get it.
i thought that must've been some wind - and wondered why a TV would look like it had wings...
I thought the same thing!
sorry, but it could have been a sony with all the wind. patti
That must've been some wind! My Sony weighs a ton!
I actually grabbed the camera to try and grab a shot of the squirrel messing around on my feeder that spins around... the smart little bugger learned very quickly if he walks out on the post and slides down the bottom pole to get the corn... it doesn't spin... but still entertaining to me... and as soon as i opened the window to take the shot... he ran away and I spotted the fox... good timing for sure
Louise I think if that fox came near my two maniacs he would have to be awfully brave ... they are out there and very aggressive towards anything moving
Sun is out, blue skies, just above freezing but the strong gusty wind makes it feel colder. Most of the water has drained away now and what is left looks like a thin frozen sheet covering the backyard. All and all a good day for the middle of Feb. and all the snow is gone again. :)
You snow is gone??????!!!!!!!! Oh my, I really need to consider moving South a bit!!!
Well we have a couple little mole hills that used to be big mountains but those don't count and the snow in the back got turned to slush and froze into ice sheets so that doesn't count either. First time since late Nov. that the ground out back is clear of that white stuff. We have just missed a lot of the snow lately and got rain or a mix and I don't mind telling you its just fine with me. You have just got clobbered up there and I hope the storms ease up on every one soon, but it looks like a couple more coming this week.
Sunshine!!! and 29 degrees. My back is sore from shoveling tons of slush yesterday. It looks very wintry here.
We have the dreaded snow showers again on Friday and our next storm is predicted for Monday. I'm hoping to get the rest of the snow/ice off the roof before then....or if M.N. feels nice, she'll melt some for me!
Here it is cloudy, windy, but above freezing (35), and no snow on the ground, which has with all the mild weather and rain a tinge of green to it.
32 here with wind gusts to 33 MPH but very sunny and not a trace of snow. I can see my scallions from here and they're still green.
A foot of snow here, but sunny and above freezing.
We still have 53,900 people with out power.
Pixie, Sun out. I feel guilty. But for repentance, I am still going through all the house and doing a major purge and cleaning. So I can't go out and play. I am pretending it is spring. Then I get to do the tax stuff tomorrow. Patti
Sunny and 35 deg. here now. Most of the snow melted off the deck, but everything else is still covered. No ice on the trees anymore.
sunny and bright. it was really windy this morning, but it seems to have calmed down now.
DH is off to FL for the weekend - highs of 78 - 82, lows of 65 - 70.
Sunny & bright here too, but very windy! Everything is ice covered snow--gleaming in the sun Amythest---it only got to 35 in our part of Ct yester. Great fox pict--he was probably hungry--fox don't get cats--coyotes do--before we had to fence in yard, fox & deer would pick up our old frozen apple drops. Felt sorry they were reduced to that.
Gorgeous day here, but I wasted it doing all the IRS worksheets.......taxes are done!!! Yay! Now I can go out and play some tomorrow! Am I the only one that thinks the fed. taxes are getting ridiculously complicated with all those worksheets??? I used to enjoy doing them....like a puzzle...but now...yuk!
I just plop everything down on the desk of the accountant and wait for the cheque :)))
LOL Yup, me too.
Our long-time CPA retired at the end of '07 and we must now use the services of someone new. This is right up there with finding a new hair stylist! Yikes!

Sun is out again with a few high clouds and still breezy enough to make the tree tops sway. Temp is just below freezing but climbing to around 40 I hope, then big dip in temp for the weekend. Rain/snow for monday.
40 here, going up to 45 but cold weather for tomorrow with a high of 32. No snow yet in the forecast.
It's 32 and overcast right now. Supposed to rise to the mi 40s and be partly cloudy; we'll see. Most of the creeks in the area were swollen or flooding yesterday. I hope the melt will be slow enough that we don't end up with lots of black ice.
29F.
Snowing, blowing and cold.
Cloudy 25 right now, we should get up to 34-36 today but with snow showers.
Very cold tomorrow and Sunday, storm coming in for Sunday night. Starts out as snow here, changes to freezing rain by morning and then pouring rain for the rest of the day on Monday. The good news on Mondays storm? It will get up to 40 degrees which means melting. The bad news? It also means a good chance of some more flooding.
30 and raw - a little sun.
Awe Lee Ann, im so sorry...it drives ya crazy don't it??
