Cute Carolina wren! We have them all winter, too. They're such cheerful little birds and not annoying like the house wrens ( who get into my bluebird house and peck holes in the eggs).
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 12
plantaholic - i remember that!
i grew up in STL and i was 7 in 1978 - we lived on a big 4 lane city street which was a snow route - i remember my dad walking down the middle of S. Kingshighway because there were NO cars out.
we built snow men. The oldest daughter (HS age) of the downstairs apt family was really artistic and made this sculpture of doves on a birdbath and neighborhood kids trashed it and i cried because it was so pretty.
Hey, I was ten! I remember making a tunnel network in the back yard.
A stroll *in* S. Kingshighway: I didn't see that, but how cool would that be!
dare i ask the eternal STL question?
i went to Bishop DuBourg.
LOL!!
Mary Institute, but I am practically the opposite of the typical Mary I. girl.
good to know - after all, i'm a south city girl!
BTW - i worked for a theatre company in the 90s that used the theatre at mickey d's (MICDS).
HAHA I never heard that term before! Just Mary Prostitute : )
Maybe we should start a St. Louis HS questionnaire?!
i don't know when exactly Mary Institute and Country Day School merged into one - it may not have been until the 90s. Where are you now - i'm imagining Winnetka is north - by Chicago?
i guess we've kinda hijacked this thread... *sorry*

Okay, started a new thread, re: St. Louis:

Sorry to everyone for drifting off topic!
Yes - and how's today's weather in St Louis?!! Hee hee.
Probably 50F and sunny- my best friend still lives there, and takes great delight in bragging about the warm temps. Jerk ; )
My 'puter is flashing Sever Weather Warning thingies at me again.
Tomorrow is supposed to be nasty with snow turning to freezing rain....ick
(making sure I have enough coffee and digging out my flannel jammies)
Nice - your prints?
Bunny? Love the curved line of the prints.
I would think squirrel, but in creep mode not hopping.
I'm guessing fox or coyote or wolf. straight lines like that only a dog or cat will make.
Not someone on a pogo stick?
Could be.
The tracks stopped at the tree though.
Sunny 28 degrees with a slight breeze. Should warm to mid 40s. Tomorrow mid fifties with heavy rain that we really don't need more of here.
Al, love your foot print pic. Don't know how big they are but it looks like a fisher (giant weasel) trail to me going from tree to tree looking for tasty squirrels for supper.
32 and very overcast. Supposed to get more rain.
38 now and going to 45 but with clouds in the forecast and it looks windy out there.
Temp 40°, wchill 32°, wind S 8mph
Snowing quite well, 8" predicted.
wow, freezing rain here :((
When do you have to start plowing?
You be quiet - you sound like my wife now.LOL
Hopefully not until tonight.
oops -sp

And take out that garbage!!
I am the garbage depending on the day ;)
Totally overcast and grey gloomy and very windy now. Never quite made it to the mid 40s, around 37 degrees now.
The temperature that shows on the screen, 39 degrees, must be a lie. It's freezing out there! No rain or snow but not a nice day.
36 and very raw here.
dark all afternoon.
32F
The freezing rain has stopped and now it's just plain raining. Supposed to go back to freezing rain as it cools off for the evening and then to snow.
YUCK
Found my flannel jammies and have plenty of coffee!!
Stay warm. It's not nice here either.
A gloomy day and now it is raining. I'm not sure what kind of rain it is, but where there is already ice it is extremely slippery. I just came back from going out to dinner with the girls. When I went to get in the car my feet slipped out from under me and I grabbed for the steering wheel and was finally able to pull myself back up and into the car. What a sight - hope nobody saw me!! I'm noted for not being very graceful! when I got home, I was hoping to drive the car into the driveway and garage without hitting my DH's car. Our driveway is covered with thick ice and rutts so I was sliding all over the place, but I made it!! Eleanor
It was cold and extremely windy here today but it's died down now.
Snowing and 34 here, changing to freezing rain by morning, then straight rain in the afternoon.
34F and raining.
For some strange reason, my roof has started to leak. This is strange because it's rubber on the levelish spots...and tin on the steep parts...
Guess who's gonna be slushing about on the roof tomorrow trying to figure out what's going on...
Oh - bummer. Good luck with that.
