Temp 41, Windchill 18°, Wind WNW 30mph, cloudy. ☺
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 12
After two or three episodes of dark clouds wind and rain then sun again, now the temp has dropped enough for snow squalls with blinding sudden snow, wind then slows a bit then comes down with a big blast. Crazy day.
Yup, crazy. Sun is gone, clouding up for the next round. I'm sick so I've been sleeping a lot and every time I wake up, it's a different day.
Boojum, sorry you are not well. I am having another minor battle with PI. But missing Vt. and the snow, but I don't want it here. DS is happy and warm in NOL. Hope to see you in later this month. "Lady Jane' has bloomed again as has 'Giraffe' another real love this year. I love your 'Fairy Tale' Patti
Feel better, booj! Yes, crazy weather here as well.
Major squall again right now!
Thanks guys! I'm hoping that I'll be fine quickly and I'm taking advantage of the weekend to heal. I'm hardly ever sick. I keep thinking I'm faking it (fine when I do nothing) but then I get up and then I know. My DBF is out buying a chicken to make me soup. What would I do without him???? Glad Ned is happy! Patti, your hippeastrums have been so wonderful this year! I can't believe you are gardening already!
Patti, you and Pirl are garden animals! Please come and help me!
So lovely a color for amaryllis--it would look so much better as a paint color in my granddaughters' room than the bittersweet chosen by my DIL--but as a MIL, I keep quiet, & smile a lot. My amaryllis bulbs ( the bargain binners from WFF) have 2 bloom stalks apiece--I drew one last week in art class, & was hoping I could do the blossom this Tues., but I don't think it will open---the only other thing blooming is kalanchoe. It is sunny now after morn snow--very windy, 36 & going down!
Sorry to hear you are sick, Booj!! Chicken soup made by DBF is just the best!! Feel better soon!
Al - loved your A/C comment!! LOL Finally, ours is turned OFF and the windows are open w/ only 20 percent humidity and mid-70s temps.
Thanks, Ngam! I'm heading out shortly to water my sticks. They get watered on Weds and Sundays. I DO love the bargain you get with cuttings - Plus - there's just something almost miraculous when a stick becomes a tree. I get so excited about things like that. I love it when seeds germinate too, and when they become flowers....Well...that's just awesome!! I brought some of my deadheaded marigolds down with me from NH and scattered them out in a new bed in our front yard. Well - today they are up! Oh My!! Happy camper plant mommy here!! LOL
Victor - how is your little guy feeling today?
Pixie - Have you considered setting up a snow cream stand in your front yard??? LOL
Thank you Louise. Still not great - still feverish so we changed the medication.
The wind was gusting before but now it's horrendous along with the lightest of snow flurries. Watch, I'll wake up to a foot of flurries.
Neat curtains, Pixie. Close-ups of the icicles as they begin to melt are neat so get your boots ready.
Thanks Celeste. Cool icicles!
Yikes, Celeste.....don't walk under those things!! Maybe you can dip them in chocolate and serve them for dessert tonight!!!
One of my dogs has developed a liking for icicles and refuses to come into the house until i snap one off for her to nibble on.
Great shot!!
Every time one drops off and hits the deck, it sends my male Chinook scrambling under the bed, he's spent alot of time there today!
cold & windy.

Temp dropping quickly - now 18 and falling fast. And VERY windy.
The winds are horrific! We're at 29 but not for long.
20-25 mph winds, snowing and 28 now, supposed to drop to 10.
Wind chill is 5 - 8 degrees.
37 and almost no wind. I guess it is coming later. Patti
Currently 5, just got back from PA, a long 7 hour+ drive when it should have been 4 hours. Very windy and white.
How many cards did your FIL get? Was it a happy birthday for him? I hope so!
I decided to go see what the local Home Depot had in the way of new orchids (nothing) and got caught in a squall. Visibility near zero and the wind was fierce. I watched as the thermometer on the van went from 40 degrees down to 29. By the time I got out of the store, the snow had stopped and the wind had diminished a little. Now it's just cold. I hear there's a chance for some light snow in a couple of days.
With the snow today, this might be a good time to ask, mamasita, oh where is Santa Claus??!! Sorry, I couldn't resist!
It's 10 degrees here and I can relate to the "white" part-there were two foot drifts in the road coming home from work today at 4. The wind was howling.
I counted 22 so far - and I know more are on the way. He was really upbeat, a lot better than last month when we saw him.
They had visitors at the VA, that brought the Vets gifts in honor of National Hospitalized Veteran's Week. They introduced every one, starting with the ones in the hospital, talking about the branch of service, dates, war, piloting, etc. Then the visitors were introduced, some of whom were Vets. One woman introduced herself, then said "I was never in the service, I'm sorry to say". My F-I-L called out " You didn't miss anything!" which brought a round of laughter! It was a nice weekend.
Thanks again to all of you!
Great to hear, Deb!
Me too! (Glad to hear it!)
