Thanks Louise. He has a bit of bronchitis but is feeling a bit better. It's nice to be upstairs!
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 12
Good to hear, Victor. Brian Williams just reported that the flu this year is late and pretty bad....any signs of it up there? I always worry about our older friends when the flu starts rearing its head.
I've heard reports of the area in general but not nearby yet. Strep is running through my kids' school and a nasty GI bug is all around the region.
DonnieBrook. we are coming down for the last week of Feb. I will dmail when I get there so we can make plans. I know I am spending my first day addressing invitations for the Sanibel-Captiva Cares for the Children's Hospital. It will be fun seeing my friend's pals again, nice bunch down there. Some years I get to go to the events, but poor planning on my part, as it isn't until March. That amazing chocolatier, Norman Love, always donated tons for the event and I think I ate half of it myself. Wonderful hospital and doctors at Lee Memorial.
Good idea about the bark. I have a dear friend coming this week, who loves goofy projects. I plan on doing a Tom Sawyer on him and I will see if I can get him to help me make a bench, while I watch. I will leave the chain saw out in a conspicuous place, like on his bed. He lives and works in NYC so he will be itching for an outdoor project. He is coming with his 9 year old daughter who is out for her school break, but his wife is working. He works weird hours, but can always get time off when he needs it. We hope the weather is good later in the week so we can take them to Vt and get her on skis or at least be able to go sledding. She has been deprived of playing in the snow. I know everyone is sick of it.
Victor, hope your little guy is doing better. What is better about upstairs? How is vista? Patti
And why are you banished to the basement when you are there alone?
Thanks Patti. Upstairs is warmer, has natural light and I can be near my kids!
Whispering here....it's not snowing but it's only 9°
Snow is due in tonight and snow showers all day tomorrow. Yesterday's snow shower last from 7am - 5pm.
That's one very long snow "shower", Pixie!
I say send all snow from now on out to sea. The sun is actually out for a few minutes. Seems like a long time since that has happened. We need to enjoy it now because it is supposed to cloud over again with rain/snow/sleet mess coming in tonight and then snow and cold blast tomorrow. Only a few inches at most according to predictions. All rain would be nice! Temp mid 20s, should climb to upper 30s as long as sun shines. :)

Too long Pirl! We got another 5" yesterday, 7" on Wed. and 8" more tonight. I need to buy taller boots!
Snowing lightly here. Starting to stick.
41 here, no snow, no wind, some sun but it's supposed to get sunnier and warmer later.
Edited to say "warmer" means just the low 40's and now there's a 70% chance of rain for this afternoon though it doesn't look it. Serious winds coming in tomorrow and Monday with colder temperatures and several chances of flurries through the week.

Cloudy here, and 36----we are waiting for rain & snow showers--hope they are not Pix's version of snow showers! We will be in Goshen babysitting, so no rain, just snow up there. DonnieB--very jealous of you right now in FL, & also Patti planning to go. My friend, who lost her husb. in July, is heading for Ft. Myers Beach on Tues. & visiting with friends in Venice. Sure miss the sandhill cranes, & tortoise that visited us last winter. Sure miss the sun!
43 and flurries here... not really sticking but on the grass.... can't wait for my big high of Sunday Night, Feb 10
Low: 11 °F RealFeel®: -5 °F... joy
snowing enthusiastically here.
(the snow is enthusiastic. Me, not so much.
Light snow here possibly changing over to or mixing with rain this afternoon. Temp currently around the freezing mark, but expected to go to around 40.
That's funny, Amy.
We seemed to stall at 41 and have very light rain now and then.
Temp 41.9°, Baro 29.76↓ ☺
Worked outside since 10. Beautiful day. Relayed a stretch of stone walk around the new stream and finished hauling off the left over stones to a new spot to trick out, later. Did some more clean up of downed branches around the property.
Rather than pitch all the paper whites in the compost, I have been keeping them watered and growing in the greenhouse as they go by since Nov. Today I took about 100 out into the woods and planted them. It nothing happens, then they are just compost. It they bloom again in a couple of years, a plus. I will let you know if I ever get more blooms.
38 °F
Clear
Wind: 8 mph from the South

Clouds have chased the sun away again and light snow is now dropping out of them. :(
Patti - I hope your paperwhites make it! Your ground must not be frozen there!! I hope we can get together while you are down here!
Pixie - you poor thing with all that snow!! How you keep such a great disposition about it is amazing! I loved Amy's "enthusiastic" comment about the snow....funny!
ROBINDOG....keep your chin up! Wish you could transplant yourself as well! The More DG'ers the better - in my opinion!
I'm so excited to report that three of my branch cuttings have now put out some new leaves....They are no longer just sticks in the ground......THEY'RE ALIVE!!!! That's so exciting....my living privacy fence is more than a wish!! The cuttings that have taken are a red powder puff tree, a weeping bottle brush tree and 3 dark red oleanders.....so exciting! (and so cost effective!!) LOL
Donniebrook, don't you just love a bargain? I will start a mess of cuttings for summer as soon as we get back. Nothing makes me happier than making babies. Plant babies, that is.
I will dmail as soon as I figure out my free time and I hope it can mesh with some of yours. We have some obligations (fun stuff, mostly). But I should be able to escape for a walk and see it all for real.. Patti
Sounds like a plan, Patti! You can see my living sticks in person!! LOL
Weatherwise - it's down to 70 degrees with lower humidity coming in tomorrow. A/C still on for now.....:(
DB so glad to hear of your success with the cuttings, nice price tag too. It is still the frozen earth up here but the sun is trying to burn off the morning fog and we have gone above freezing to 36 degrees for awhile. Snow squalls, high wind and colder temps to come through this afternoon. Very thankful not the minus degree temps that the midwest is having.
Just finished the snowblowing from yesterday (3-4") to get ready for today. LOL. "What we did on our weekend vacation" by boojum!
Louise - our A/C is working great outside - come on up it's -11.
We are at a whooping 28 with snow/rain mix. I guess our A/C is working great too! LOL

43 and bright here but the sun that was shining so much earlier is now in hiding. Very high wind warnings for this afternoon.
Snowing just as predicted. We also have a super outside A/C, if anyone is hot out there!
32 here. Will get very cold later on. We have a wind advisory for the PM.
35 in our area and the sun just now popped out. Brisk wind and like everyone else, we're expecting temps to drop. Brrrrrrrr!
42 and sunny. Heading out to attack the brush. Patti
Sun is long gone and replaced by very gusty strong wind driven cold rain. Basically very miserable out there. Temp is starting to drop.
Wet snow coming down pretty heavy right now with lots of wind! Too warm to stick so far.
Temp is -1.
The sun is actually out after the snow of last night and this am. Don't know how long it's gonna last though.
More snow showers/squalls with winds this time! Woo Hoo!
SNOW SHOWERS AND SNOW SQUALLS WILL DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AND
CONTINUE INTO THIS EVENING...PRODUCING A STORM TOTAL OF 4 TO
8 INCHES OF SNOW...WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS IN THE MOUNTAINS AND
ACROSS INTERIOR SECTIONS OF SOUTHWEST AND CENTRAL MAINE.
WIND GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT WILL CAUSE
BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. THIS WILL REDUCE VISIBILITY TO NEAR
ZERO AT TIMES IN HEAVIER SNOW SHOWERS.
We just finished a squall and now the sun is out!
Same here!!
We had a quick shower, a rainbow and now sunny again. Back out to dig some more holes for my Viburnums that I ordered for April. I was able to widen a couple of beds this morning as the ground is not frozen at all. Patti
