Today's Weather in Your Garden - 12
Well the snow looks pretty at least Pixie, but I bet you would rather have a bit less. The poor truck guy, what a way to end your work day. Like you said though, it could be worse. I don't want any more of that white stuff here either. Our little bit has stopped and I am very thankful it did not amount to anything this time.
Snow? I've almost forgotten what it looks like, have'nt seen much of it this year...
Temp 42°
Maybe you'll get a foot in April then to help out.
It's been the least snowiest January in 75 years in New York.
Thanks pirl, that's one of the things I wanted to know. I'm still curious how we did temperature-wise. And those of you with snow, you have my sympathies! Now we'll probably have a blizzard and a month of sub-zero temps!
That's interesting, Pirl! Hasn't the weather been unusual everywhere? So many records are being established. Here in south Florida it is unusually warm and I'm looking forward to some cool temps this weekend. I'm hosting a brunch here on Saturday for one of my close childhood friends and her family, and I'd like to have it outside if it cools off some.
By the way, has anyone heard much from Candyce? I haven't seen many posts from her lately....hope she's not sick still!
This shot should be on my "walk" thread, but I thought it was a nice look at the "dates" on one of the palm trees on our walk......
Very pretty.
Crispy is not good for palms "and other living things".
It suggests there's a good reason why we are on "one day a week" watering restrictions. I wish some of these people would give their palms a little drink on their watering day. It's odd to see palms side by side.....one doing fine and one wilted. Of course, that happens to me as well down here.......some can take the heat and some of us can't as well!
I love the snow, I will not complain about my weather anymore (even though i've been w/out power for the last 2 hrs), I am thankful for the snow..after seeing this:

You're in ME! You're supposed to get snow! It's still beautiful, (at least to me!) ☺
- Wow... I didnt know it was tornado season yet.
Donniebrook, I may have to drive over and go on one of your walks the week I am down. I love those ghostly gray palms. I know no names of anything down there, which is weird. I need to make an effort. Patti
I dmailed Candyce a few days ago - Sean is better - she is busy w/limited access to the computer - we miss her though!
Temp 34°, cloudy, light rain. ☺
16°

30 and overcast here. My little guy is sick and will be staying home. I am happy to be upstairs again!
So glad you're not a basement dweller anymore, Victor.
Overcast, gloomy but the sun is supposed to come out and we're due to get up around 45. Scattered rain and snow changing to all rain tomorrow. It's 35 now.
Overcast and gloomy again here too. Temp 28 degrees and fairly calm. Sugar dusting of fresh snow on the ground, very happy that's all.
Yup, "snow showers" here. Ha! It's coming down at an inch an hour....hate to see them predict a blizzard!
Oh bother, its snowing here again too. :(
The radio just said Chicago has received 11 minutes of sun this month.
Idaho (not sure of the city) received over 9' of snow in January! See that, Pixie!
Good morning all! It's 29 and grey in the mid-Hudson. They're predicting highs in the low 40s and a chance for snow flurries/showers.
blah here too. Patti
Still snowing and cold here.
Light snowy fog here.
Clouds aren't always the worst thing this time of year Pirl - keeps it above 0 usually.
Keep all that heat trapped!
Usually. Supposed to get cold here after this snow has passed through.
Thanks. I didn't know that.
The water vapor in the clouds helps hold in heat. Clear skies and low humidity result in 'radiational cooling'. That's why the temps in a desert fall so much overnight.
Interesting.
Turned nice here, sunny and no wind. We have been out tuning the stream....moving rocks to get the best sound. We had a tiny water loss at the top, so DH fixed that a few days ago. We now need to do a little work to get the start of the falls to meld into the walk , so it looks like it is a spring coming from under the stone walk. Kind of fun. We will do that tomorrow. I still want to get some under water lights. We need a bench too. We had a huge pine come down in the woods, so I am thinking of trying to make a bench with some of it. Being a Keen Kampy Kamper in my youth, I may be able to do something resembling a bench.
It was rainy, snowy, sleety for a few min. this morn, on our way to the wound center. When we came home (after a quick but productive visit to the bookstore), the sun was shining--windy, but 40, & got my walk in across the dam. Patti--a pine bench sounds like a perfect place to sit & read by the stream. Can't believe all the snow in ME! We have green grass.
I'm drowning my winter blues in hot apple pie with vanilla/caramel ice cream...
Sounds good 3G's! Share??
Our "Snow Shower" started at 7am .......it's still snowing.
5:30 and still some light!! Hooray!!
34°, thin haze. China is having some of the worst weather they've had in 100yrs.

Patti - I would love to have you come for a walk and a visit! Let me know the dates you'll be down here! What fun! I agree with ROBINDOG that a pine log bench would be great near your stream. We placed two of them up in our meadow in NH. One tip I'll share....remember to remove the bark. If you don't, you'll have pine tar on your clothing. Ours have been up in the meadow for years........still holding up! Skinning the pine bark off is fun, by the way! I like the term, "tuning the stream"....I think that project of yours is just awesome! Tell us how the tuning is going.....
Victor - sorry to hear your little guy is sick! I hope he feels better soon! Also glad to hear that you are up out of the basement.....
Deb - thanks for the update on Candyce. I thought I'd send her an email too and check on her.
Radiational cooling is coming our way over the weekend....Yay!! My brunch gathering is on for outside tomorrow morning.........We had a few raindrops late this afternoon....not enough to sneeze at!
