Put a load of clothing into the dryer so thought I might drop in on some new threads...well, glasses are upstairs and I'm downstairs...

Saw the entry Bookeeping and thought why not..with Income Tax time around the corner might just learn a thing or two..put glasses on and voila..the o's were really e's and it's beekeeping...lol

Curling is on and it's running late so no Bingo this evening...so I'm rather tired and so I'm getting a few gardening magazines, looking for some projects to keep me busy this weekend that will eventually be place in the garden, I've already had my bath so it's tuck in time even though it is rather early...

What did I learn..mom is finally breaking down and thinking of selling her home...they've the place in Florida, home in the city and home in cottage country..don't need 3 but you couldn't talk her into selling either one, but today she has considered it and says when they get home in March they'll put it on the market... so that was very interesting...

So dear friends, another day has come to an end...for those of you who have posted, I've enjoyed visiting with you..for those who have not..my thoughts and well wishes have been with you as well...Lord willing I'll be here in the morning to say 'hi'

We've not cancelled Carol, listening to much of the same and just heard pinging on the windows re freezing rain but seems to have stopped..says from Barrie to Toronto hazardous..I just go where the others go (smile/smile or is it a frown)! Suzanne called at 6:30am and said we'd not leave at our reg. 7am time but perhaps around 7:30 - 8:00 to allow for the high volume traffic to get ahead of us..so, enjoying another cup of coffee, looking at my gardening magazines, petting the kitties waiting for the call to say 'we're on our way!' which will surely come..

So..I will tell you about this friend of mine. It was her birthday on Monday..she is 72 years young..a great gal. We worked togther for 35 years.
I surprised her with an orchid. I stopped in to my favorite Garden centre (it had just opened for the season) and chose this one for her.
It was the first orchid she has ever had.

About the weather..no I don't get it as bad as Betty..she lives 2 hours north west of me. and she has to travel on the 400 hwy which is notorious for white outs and accidents in the winter. Plus..being up north she gets a lot more snow than I do here.

I'M BACK! Met Suzanne and we left at 7:45 as planned..really almost an hour later than usual..we got about 10 miles up the road and Paul called, he left the usual time and got as far as Barrie and could not see, said it was a wall of white and they are calling for freezing rain/winds mixed in so told us to turn around and work from home...which for me means simply to answer the telephone..easy enough..lol..sure did make my day..

Once I got my car in Waubaushene I called Gail who is a little bit out of the way from here and asked if she could open her studio for me..

I've picked up more solder, foil, glass, electrical to allow for a harp for those lamps I bought at the church bazaar so am ready for my day seeing as the 6 panels are already cut..very similar color to Suzanne's as it was quick and easy project...but wouldn't you know it..she had made a dimentional butterfly, about 8" long and about 6" high with lead body..the actual body and pattern comes in a kit, so guess who brought one home just incase I finish the lamp today..would make a beautiful hanging piece for Mother's Day and/or a garden stake for Betty..perhaps I'll have to do several right?

As for mom, it's their house in Brampton..will keep the cottage in cottage country however, it's a home not cottage..as for downsizing..OMG she makes porcelain dolls that many are the size of 3 year olds..she's a collector..other sister and sister's in-law aren't in for that sort of thing, so guess who she thinks will be to thrilled to get them..yuk..have to let her down softly..will take a couple but not dozens/dozens....she did telephone the doctor and he said the growth was not cancerous but could turn into it so she has another growing..said not to leave it, have it taken out..so guess she'll do it while in Florida or wait till mid March when they return home...

Liz, surely your boss understands the need to be by your Uncles' side in his last hours..I'd just go..truly, family is so very important..

Carol, beautiful orchid, my goodness your friend certainly does not look her age..she's gorgeous...guess some of the nurseries will be opening to get themselves organized...I passed Gatrix Lily Farm on the way to the stained glass studio and thought of all the beauty beneath it just waiting for spring..wasn't a lily person but then listened to all and saw everyones lowers and bought a few, on my list as one of my first purchases...only up the road so once I get hooked watch out...

Not please to hear Greg/Mel and the boys are on their way as we speak to Buffalo..going to a hockey game tonight and are spending a couple of days sightseeing...weather is treacherous..called and asked if they couldn't leave a little later but they'd already left..will wait till mid aft. and call Greg's cel...worry/worry/worry!

Carol isn't it exciting having the family go to Disney..Greg took the boys last year at Boxing Day for 10 days and stayed on site at their hotel..all inclusive..they loved it but came back so very tired...grandchildren are at a good age to be doing Disney...my favorite is Epcot..tried to convince Mom/Aunt Muriel/Jim to go with me at Christmas but wasn't their thing...

I know what you mean about worrying about your kids..since I retired I seem to worry more...or maybe it just comes with age..LOL I do everyone is safe and sound.

Mom's cottage is in Washago, about 15 minutes from Orillia so guess less than 1 hr. away from me..her sister, dear Aunt Muriel lives about 10 minutes from me so she often visits her..would see more of her..which is great! no kidding...lol...

Hi all. The storm is still going on here, but most of it is to the north of where I am. We may end up with 3 or 4 inches tops. The roads were covered driving in this morning but not slick. Tornadoes everywhere last night! Hope everyone is safe.

Talking about weather.....

We are supposed to have 70-75* today!!!! Rain and maybe even T-showers. Yesterday it got up to 60*. This happens here all the time...Then--WHAMO! Below freezing!

Whatever cold and dread you all are having west of the East Coast is coming our way. Saw it on the weather forecast last night. Starting this weekend, the lows at night will be dropping....dropping....I think by wed. they will be in the mid-teens. And so it goes--until Mother Nature decides to settle down.

Have not started to paint my bathroom yet. Had to take the paint back and have them mix me a new gallon. The guy that did it the first time screwed up the color. He mixed it at 50% tint and it was still too dark. The one I have now is mixed at 25% tint and is just about right.

Everything is taped off and cleared out. Not sure when I will get to it. Maybe later today? At least would like to do the edges all around. That would help! Then I can just roll in the rest. Slept too late this AM and I want to go to a store that advertised some good deals on tennis shoes.
Tomorrow have a Dr's appt. Sat. I have to work 6AM-1PM and then hurry off to a baby Shower for a co worker. Sunday is free. maybe I'll start then.

Bernice my neighbor came in for coffee..don't get a lot of time to visit..she's the lady that had the B&B..anyway, got sidetracked, found my antique telephones (which work) and was deciding where to put them..anyway, changed the entrance a bit, need to drill hole, get oval mirror inserted in antique frame, make a smaller shelf for over the floor cupboard and the frame to put a few antiques and voila..new look (for now) lol...

So back to my doggie angel and then my lamp...and I'll make a quick call to Shar and will let you know how she's doing...

The cats and I huddled on the couch till the worst was over. I have tons of sticks and limbs down in my yard, but no damage that I can see. I have a sturdy house, so don't worry. I have found that I don't like to be alone in that kind of weather, not a good feeling. Tornadoes touched down a few miles south of me, and the wind roared till I thought a freight train was coming through. Jazz, the huge cat that he is, climbed up under the long shirt I had on and stayed there clinging like a tick with his tail the only sign of him. Daisy was much more lady like about the whole thing. She slept soundly leaning against the side of my leg on the sofa. Jazz is such a chicken.

Any way, thanks for your concern. Still cloudy, but calm at the moment. The price we pay for 70 degree weather in February.

I am NOT you! With your endless energy and go-go-go- you would have this bathroom painted between 2 cups of coffee! Besides, I slept until 9:3oAM this morning. Ahhh--the life of leisure!
Not me! I do it slow as I am a perfectionist at things. Can't do something like this in a hurry! The first steps will be "cutting in" all around the ceiling (not painting that), the marble tile molding around the floors, the doors' frames and the one window (not painting those either) and the tub surround where that meets the walls. A lot of piddly stuff like these to take care of.

This B-Room is a skinny long one. It has a double vanity with 2 medicine cabinets on either side of the vanity attached to the wall. Then there is a huge mirror across the wall with a light mounted over that. Don't feel like taking those down, so I will also have to paint around all that.
Then--there is a second door that separates the vanity part of the bathroom from the toilet/tub part of the bathroom. This is a louvered door. NOT painting that either--nor the small window above the toilet. Everything is a soft off white now and the light taupe color I am painting the walls with go well with it.

THERE! Since I went shopping, and it is now 3PM--it is time to watch Dr. Phil and then Oprah after that--and then it will be getting dark. So much for today!

Drove 15 miles one way to see the tennis shoes. They don't come in until Saturday. Oh well! Spent a lot of money anyway. Biggest purchase? A Pierre Cardan suit case on 4 wheels. 28" size--BIG! all kinds of zippers and such. $59.99!!! Tagged price was over $200. Gonna need it for my trip to Latvia in July.
This is a store called "Tueasday Morning". Any of you have this anywhere near you? It is an amazing bargain store! Everything is first class and at great discount prices. Maybe you could Google and see if there is one near you and see what ythey carry as well.

We had several years ago a few tornado's in our area hit..did mega damage..few people were killed in Barrie, that one was a few years ago, but recently we've had them as well..although we felt safe from them, they do touch down so now when there is a warning..we pay attention..

Took a break from telephones a few minutes before I should have..got my dishtowels posted for that thread and believe it or not..the doggie angel as well..let's hope all make it in one piece (included a smaller angel in with t-towels...if not, well can always make another right?

As I pulled out of the driveway I noticed that Michelle (Bernice's daughter) who just lost her husband (age 32) was at her moms'..no sooner did I get into the post office did she come in to see if I was on my way home and would visit...

Poor girl, lots on her plate..she had purchased a stained glass lamp years ago which recently got broken (wonder how) and had most of the panels..little outdated, so we picked a new pattern and she is unable to make it this Sunday to work on a lamp because she has the thank you cards to do from the funeral but we've made a date to meet a week Sunday....she needs to get out and have adult company as well..not sure, perhaps she'll have to bring the children but that would also be ok...I'll get her into something to take her mind off things even if it's for a few minutes...

She is an inborn 'stager'...can go into someones home, take what they have, change everything around and you'd not know it was the same rooms..so who knows, perhaps I'll pay her to do my upstairs and/or give me some decorating ideas..always open to that...

Didn't cancel the painting class tonight although I did tell them I wouldn't have it for a few weeks so let's hope nobody come..want tonight for me..me..me..

Did find my foil..wouldn't you know it..had folded towels that I was working with and guess it was sitting on the towel, put another over it..wasn't till I was looking for wire that I came across it..oh well, now I've 2...

I've not burnt supper yet so had better get myself up there before I do..can hear some crackling...

Sharon, I'm glad you are ok after all the storms. My cousin lives in Memphis and was right down the street from the mall that was damaged. Luckily she and the rest of the family are ok. We're supposed to get the storms tonight but nothing like what went on last night. We've had very strong winds today and record high temps.

I got a call today at work from the school nurse. DS had a temp of 103.7. I raced over and got him and took him home. I was relly concerned because he was complaining about his neck hurting so paranoid mom thinks the worst - viral menegitus. Spoke to his doctor and since he could bend his chin down to his chest, it was not that. I went ahead and took him to Patient First and they did a flu and strep test on him. He's got the flu and has to be out from school until Monday. They gave me Tamiflu for him so hopefully it will shorten the duration. So I'll be working from home the next 2 days. My parents are supposed to come up Sunday and spend the night and spend Monday here for my DM's birthday. They've both had the flu shot but I guess I'll have to play it by ear and see how he's doing.

Dawn, on the tests I did, insurance won't pay for them because they say since it's done as a precaution, it's not covered. Does that make sense??? I guess they'd rather pay the thousands of dollars for someone to have open heart surgery or a long hospital stay from a heart attack. Gotta love insurance companies!! Anyway, all of the test together were only $420 which I just took out of my flex spending at work. I wonder with your history if insurance might be different for you. You should check into it. It's called an EBT heart scan.

Feel like forever since I have been able to sit and chat.

Oh my...I beleive I have fallen behind a little bit...So soon I will be able to sit and I will do some serious reading and...hahha, you guessed it catching up with all I've got to say.

I have enjoyed reading each day...sorry to sound like a broken record!

We were able to leave early today which was really nice. Took about and hour to drive home in all this mess. not so bad since people were being cautious and it wasn't rush hour.

..I was just glad to see Betty was able to stay home and Shar survived her Storm. Load off my mind.

Just popping in before bed. I can't believe the terrible weather that some of you are experiencing. I think I'll be happy with our cold but stable weather.

Our wiener roast was fun. It was a small party but a good one. Our friend who hosted it gave Sonora a present and she's so excited. He gave here a soldering gun, some solder and some safety glasses. He said that if we go over this Saturday, he'll let her do some stuff on his train set. Yesterday (her actual birthday) we had pancakes since it was Pancake Tuesday. I helped Sonora mix the batter (from scratch) but she cooked all of the pancakes by herself. I'm always amazed at how she's growing. On Friday we have her sleepover. It's the first time she's had a slumber party so it should be interesting. She has invited a really nice group of girls. It's hard because she couldn't invite everyone that she wanted though (I set the limit at 8). I love organizing parties but I have to say that it will be nice when it's over and I can relax. Sonora has so many ideas of things to do. Unfortunately she has about 10 times the amount of energy as I have.

I better get to bed. I'm going in to do music with the grade 1's tomorrow. It will be my first time with them and I want it to go well. Ian is in that class and I'm sure he will be excited to have me there. Lets just hope he listens to me.

Telephone rang..Suzanne said we'd leave around 8 or 9..none of the roads have been done, nobody can go anywhere so once the plows have been here off we go...

So that gives me time to have another coffee go out and at least get the snow of the car....

Can't believe the snow we've gotten this year so far and the weather channel says another front coming in for the weekend..thank goodness I've got nothing planned except play in the house...

Nope, too much for me to shovel..thought about 10" took ruller out and it was 14" so just shovelled a quick path to car and will give Cliff a call this morning and ask him to come with snow blower..thank goodness for great neighbors...usually don't like to ask him because he has enough at his place to do but this morning I'll break down and call...woww..my plow guy usually get's here around 6:30 and he's nowhere to be seen...takes so much longer for him to do all his calls..he's great..oh well, I'd rather leave late and work late..

School buses cancelled again..and some schools closed. Dufferin county roads are closed..they even pulled the snowplows off the roads in Dufferin County..Breakfast televison is telling people to just stay home.
I have never seen a winter like this !
Hope you have safe drive in if you must go.
now they just said GO buses are even getting stuck

betty, omg all the snow you have had is something dont know if i could do it
the angel dog is simply wonderful, came out great, yes the boss finally broke down had to raise my voice and then she gave in she is a control freak and everything is all about joan so her best friend and dil gave me tips how to break her down pretty sad when the bully's freinds and family come to your defence, i could write a novel on her boy all i know is i have two wings on my back!
so dh saw a post on craigs list somebody is selling blue glass blocks from germany at 3.00 he had 3 cases but we havent heard from him so well see.
dawn hope your doing good to working on a box so i'll let you know what i come up with.

carol, she broke down such a misserable person i feel pitty for her what can i do but i did get the time off so well pick up the inlaws and go on the 22 be back on the 25
