Stop and visit, talk all you want. pt 14

Oooh strawberryice cream! But chocolate is better tasting. LOL

Never had a dishwasher here either. We chose cabinet space instead and threw out the old moldy one when we moved in. I would rather have one but we need storage more. :~)

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Celia, my parents went to Panama and bought me black jade. My mom said she didn't know jade came in so many colors. I didn't either. I thought it was green. What pic?

I don't have a lot of below counter space. For that matter I don't have a lot of upper cabinet space. But it's enough. It helps that I have the built-in. Even if I didn't, I still would of bought a dishwasher, just configured the kitchen cabinets differently. Heck, my 90 yr old grandma has a dishwasher! And yes, she uses it.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Hello, Terry, come in world!! The pic, Terry, is the one we were discussing earlier that Celia posted that had the kitten in it. 'Nuff said?

Never had a dishwasher, Marcy!!! Heavens! I can't imagine life without a dishwasher--it has been years since I haven't had a dishwasher--42 years as a matter of fact, almost 43. Modern woman is certainly a spoiled creature--at least here in the U.S. But I would rather wash dishes than clean toilets any day.

Pepper, there is a retired lady on one of the other forums who lives in a state park. She said her job consists of cleaning the bathrooms in the park once a day. She says it is no big deal--she just pours bleach on everything and then washes the whole thing down with the hose. LOL I suppose that would work as long as you have a drain in your bathroom floor!!

I love strawberries and I love ice cream but, for some strange reason, I don't care for strawberry ice cream. Figure that one out!! I love strawberries on top of vanilla ice cream, though.

Raining here this moring with 70% chance the rest of the day. Warmer temps, though, which is a good thing. ☺☺☺

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Morning all!
Mau, the plants did survive the cigar smoke! LOL It is airing out now, though! HA HA HA
Terry, do you want the true number of kids, or add DH to the list?! HE HE HE
Technically, I have 3-16, 13, and 5. :)

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Good morning all!
Well...on the dishwasher, all I can say is...you don't miss what you have never had! LOL!
My DH doesn't think it is necessary! But if I decide I ever want one, I will get it!!! Nuff said about that! We would have to re-configure the cupboard space too.
It's dreary here today, but in the 40's. It is supposed to be very windy though...could have up to 50 mph winds! That isn't necessary!!!
And I have to go out in it too. Have an errand to run.
~~~~~~~~~~ waving at you all...have a great day!!
Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)
Oh do I feel stupid. She said the pic was....and I'm sitting here thinking about movies. Great big ole duh.
O.k. Tammy, didn't know about the middle one. Poor poor child. It's not fun being the middle kid. Unless of course you add in Shaun, then you've got 4 kids..LOL
I love ice cream with strawberries on top, I love strawberry ice cream...the only ice cream I can think that I don't like is anything with nuts. Don't like nuts, unless they're peanuts or cashews. Almonds are good in an almond Nestle bar. Keep that butter pecan ice cream away from me LOL
This is interesting. We have a blizzard warning here. From noon till midnight. We're only expecting 1" of snow, but the winds are supposed to be so great, that that will put us into the blizzard conditions. I'm not going anywhere!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Waving back at you Marcy!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

LOL Terry! He was the baby for over 8 years, so made it even harder on him. He doesn't hold anything against baby sis, thankfully!
HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII MARCY!

(Zone 7a)

HI, Marcy and Mau and Terry and Tammy and Pepper! Good morning to all!

It's 22º and sunny. Now. More snow tonight and all this week. Yuck!

Anybody still here?

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Hey Celia!!! Here for a bit, gotta go get Sis soon. Then take Brandon for his cast this afternoon.

(Zone 7a)

Hey, Tammy. How long does he have to wear the cast?

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I think 3-4 weeks, then a brace after that is what they say?

(Zone 7a)

He won't know what to do when it comes off. After all that time, he'll think it's still on. Does it still hurt?

When I had my crutches and boot, And then took them off, I still tried to take them with me! ☺

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

HA HA HA He hasn't complained of any pain for quite some time now actually!

(Zone 7a)

That's good. He'll be okay, then.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I think so. :)
OMG I just checked out weather, we are almost 70º right now and suppose to be down to 16º tonight!

(Zone 7a)

Yuuuuuuuuck!!!!!!!!!!! I' m sorry!!! At least I'm used to the cold now. Well, not really. I just tell myself that! LOL

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

LOL at least we haven't had much snow! Getting ready to leave soon, will be back later! :)

(Zone 7a)

'K, bye!!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

BYYYYYYYYYYYE :)

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Crazy weather, here, too. In the 60's today, low of 26 tonight and a high of 46 tomorrow. :o(( Also, it was literally pouring down rain and the wind was howling not 10 minutes ago and now the clouds have blown away and the sun is shining!!! I'll take it! and look what I found peeping up through the mulch earlier.
I think these are crocus but I can't remember for sure. We planted almost 200 bulbs that day and I didn't mark what we put where but these don't look like tulips or daffodils.

edited to say that these might be grape hyacinths, won't know till they bloom

Mau, my guess would be grape hyacinths. Typically they get their foliage in the fall and it stays around all winter long. That's up here in the frozen north though.

We had 52º at 1pm, yes that's right! 52º Know what it is now? It's 3:24pm and it's 28º!!! A 24 º difference? We go to 0º tonight! Only 19º tomorrow! Brrrrr.........winds blowing like mad out there too. So far we're getting some drizzle. Snow is supposed to be on it's way. A ton of cancellations already being broadcast for tonight and schools letting out early today.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Hey all, at 12:00 we had 68, at 1:00 we had 39, and now it is 19!!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Forgot to add that we are getting covered in snow, too!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Wow. It's 14º here now. The wind is just howling, but according to the last update, we haven't seen anything yet! It's snowing here too.

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Well..sounds like we all are going to be getting the same weather! Temps are supposed to severely drop here around midnight too. And lots of wind...and light snow by morning. That's ok, cause I am staying inside!!!
I am not a happy camper right now. Something is not right with my computer...and I suspect it's that new sound card. When I try to record a song on the recorder, it stops half way through, then starts back up. Plus my computer sounds like a jet ready for take off. Yes...I have a call into my son, which he hasn't answered yet. Darn!!! I just hate it when things don't work right!!!
Marilyn, I agree..those are grape hyacinths. I have them everywhere! They are so pretty!
Well, it will soon be time for American Idol again! I like watching that show.
Hope everyone is having a good evening?

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

We had everything today weather wise. Warm temps this morning, then it got cold and rainy, then sleet, then ice, then snow blowing so much we had white-outs. Temps went from high 50s when I got to work to 12* when I left work. 8 hours. This morning my coworker and I CARRIED our bibs. This afternoon we wore them plus several other layers and were running to our vehicles the best we could cause it was so cold.

Then......on my way home I saw a bus in the ditch. This is the SECOND time this winter there has been a bus off the road on MY hwy. I think the bus drivers need to go to driving school again cause that's just plain crazy. Roads were in better shape today than last time too. Covered in snow and slick but you could stop if you didn't force it so much.

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

It seems lots of people just plain drive too fast on bad roads. If they would just slow down..it would be a lot safer! That weather is coming our way pepper! Lights keep dipping here now from the wind! Hope we don't lose power!!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

The weather is gonna be bad so hunker down. If your lights are flickering then you might lose power. Gather lots and lots of blankets if you do cause it won't take long for the house to get cold!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

What the? I had a whole post typed up. First time ever it's gone poof. Had it bouncing around on me, but never just gone poof!

I had said that the temp is 3º out now. Not a lot of snow, but man is it blowing outside. Winds are at 40 MPH, gusts to 51MPH. We've lost 49º in 9 hours. So far, the lights haven't flickered. I'll be surprised if they don't go off at some point in time. And it'll be cold in here. It's already cold in here. Feels like a door is opened up somewhere in here.

(Zone 7a)

I think y'all got the winds we had the other day. Sunday, I think it was. 60 MPH gusts. Whew! I should have caught the wind and to all your houses! I felt, at one point, I could have blown clear to New York! LOL

Well, that's all I have for now. Going to be early for once. I sleepy!

Oh, and it's 28º. Kind of feels warm after all the cold air lately. NOT!!! More snow coming. If it's anything like yesterday, I think I might stay home.

Good night, everyone!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

The snow will us again tonite and run thru tomorrow night. 3-5 inches. Gonna have to drive my truck around at work again since my golf cart can't handle accumulated snow. :~)

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

We had the same drastic drop in temperature along with high winds yesterday afternoon. Our cable and internet service was off for several hours which is why I am just now getting back to y'all. I don't know if it had anything to do with the high winds, but it might have. Anyway, I was forced to watch a movie last night instead of talking to y'all. : o((
We don't have any snow but the temp this morning "felt like" 20º!! Considering that it was almost 70º around 1 p.m. yesterday, that is a big difference!!

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Good morning all! We were without power from right after I posted here...talking to Pepper....till 9:00 this morning...12 hrs!!!
Soooooooo...we went to bed!!! LOL! Actually..we sat around for a bit, with candles lit...then went to bed.
Got up early this morning and built a fire in the woodstove. Heated water on top of it for tea. And finally the power came on. Have been waiting for the water heater to heat up so I can shower. Think it is ready now.
Lots of wind...BIG drop in temps...very little snow.
We are on a rural coop for electric, which means they buy power from a bigger company. They told me that two power poles had snapped somewhere. I suspect they waited till morning to even try and reset them...so they could see....but I could be wrong about that. I just hope the food in my fridge and freezer are ok. We are fine.
Ok...off to get a shower, and smell pretty!

(Zone 7a)

Good morning, everyone.

The 'feels like' temp here is 13º. 3 inches of snow yesterday and more soming today. I have decided...it's winter.

DH got to work okay through all the snow. He's always good about letting me know.

I'm glad you have flowers coming up, Mau!

Playing with my camera again...

(Zone 7a)

Welcome back, Marcy!

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Glad you are okay, Marcy, and I hope your food is okay, too. I was just without cable TV and internet for several hours but, thank goodness , we didn't lose our electricity. We don't have a wood stove or even a wood-burning fireplace (it has gas logs) so we would be "up a creek without a paddle" if we lost electricity for any length of time. Enjoy that hot shower!!

Pau and I are off for Conway this morning. I have to go get my blood drawn again today. Week before last my blood was too thin. Last week it was too thick. Hopefully, this week it will be where they want it and I won't have to go back for a month! We are having lunch at a friend's house in Conway. This dear sweet lady is 88 years old and such an amazing woman. You'd never know how old she is if you didn't know how old she is!! LOL We call her "mom".

(Zone 7a)

Be safe, Mau. Tell Pau we're still thinking of him and wishing the best for both of you.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Celia. It's cold here but the sun is shining, so we should have a nice drive over and back.

(Zone 7a)

Listening to the radio this morning while I'm on and they said the midwest is going to be hit hard today with bad weather.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Must be upper midwest--our weatherman didn't warn us of anything bad coming our way. I gotta go get ready. Talk to y'all later.
