Had company drop in yesterday afternoon and spent the evening..was nice to see them and the lamp got finished this morning..I may even drive it over to Suzanne...because I had purchased 3 bases at the church bazaar and have 2 left..thought I might make myself one..no hurry but might cut out the glass during today..I'm bad!!! But I WANT one as well...not sure where it will go but the pattern was so very easy I'm sure I could find a spot...lol...

So up to bath, get my hair done, might even go have breakfast in town...I've a burst of energy all of a sudden...

Betty..WOW! That is gorgeous!
You are an true ARTIST!
I came across this quote yesterday when I was reading ..and I thought of you.

"He who works with his hands is a labourer. He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands, his head and his heart is an ARTIST" -Saint Francis of Assisi

You give so much of yourself to others.

Suzanne will be thrilled.

Cheers,
Carol

Pacifica, CA

crossed posts and you changed lol

betty just beautiful she is going to love it!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drop in to deliver it..all lights out, so perhaps she's having a much deserved sleep in..so put the lamp shad in the recyle bin (has a lid) and put the base behind the garbage can (where snow can't reach it..) will wait till 10:30 or so and give her a call..hopefully no one puts the recycling out..lol

What beautiful words Liz..I'll copy them..lots of artists on this thread..

Laura, another day to play..how wonderful..and the B.B.Q.???

Off to make breakfast (no bacon) and enjoy my day.. be back to gab later!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Carol..I'm going to be sitting on your doorsteps this spring looking for some cast away plants...love the garden photo's girls..pretty soon we'll be able to share this years 'beauties'...

This spring I'm going to put my name for 'top soil' delivery' on his last plow day so I'll be ready to roll...bought quite a few loads last year but not nearly enough...

I put a new flea collar on Sailor (doubt it's fleas but want to make sure..) need to take her in to get weighed before they give me flea tonic..but it's at the same time of year..now and then in the fall..do have some pills and medication and a herbal tonic Lydia made for her..put some on yesterday and don't see that she's itching or scratching..made up of oils and garlic..odor's not the best but if it works then why not...PLEASE what do you use ??? she does need help..

Pacifica, CA

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!
Well, I sure Loved seeing all the Pretty flowers yesterday!
...Oh my making me long for Spring and Summer.
Will be snapping away as my garden grows...boohoo all photo in old computer so
will enjoy building my gardens gallery again.

Betty, OMG Suzanne is going to Love the Lamp. It's beautiful!

Not to much to report...OH MIL was released from Hopsital. Had lots to say about her stay...LOL
Kept DH on the phone for a very long time so she is well...
OK I am a nut! She said her Cat scan of her head back empty. Struck me as hilarious...I said well that explains a lot!
hahhaa. Seriously though, Only this woman would be mad about having a clean Scan! But I see her point, we still don't know why she keeps falling and that is scarey.

Today, I am going to fabric store...I am on a hunt for the perfect color for baby's blanket...so far nothing jumping at me.
But I do have all the necessary supplies to start on of the others...LOL stop blabbing about it and begin.
I've decided on the twins first......soon as batteries charge i will show you material I've picked.

for now it's coffee and some toast.

Crozet, VA

Hi Galls - Betty, please bottle up some of that "burst of energy" juice that you have. I need it desperately. ha-ha BEAUTIFUL lamp. She will love it. Anyone would love it.

Seedtosser,I would have laughed at the head being empty too. hilarious Hi Liz andStarrzz.

Will check back later. And I will bring fudge.

Ruby

Victoria Harbour, ON

Quite a day..called Suzanne to tell her to look in 'recycling' container for her birthday gift..she said it was all the colors in her room..so that was great..

Cousin Dougie and his wife Debbie dropped in..came by scoot..wanted me to go down to the bay and he'd take me out for a few hours..said I'd pass this time but would go another day...a promise is a promise he said and will be back in 2 weeks...brought his snowmobile saddle bags in for repair..said he'd leave them but I got them repaired while he waited...can't get better service than that!!! He love the Eagle I had painted for him and Debbie loved the sleigh..all went home with armfull...

Then, thought I'd get something into the oven - restaurant closed on Sunday..as if..don't they know I NEED FOOD! so have some pork chops out and will do scalloped potatoes, surely I can manage that...no sooner was I started DS Greg and DB Mike dropped in .. they were out snowmobiling all day..got 300 miles in today, both looked like they needed something hot to drink and eat..Greg's gone home and Mike is heading back to the city so did enjoy my company..

Now, I've got an old movie on, knitting in hand and will enjoy the remainder of the day..too late in the day to start anything new..well maybe not..we'll see...

Liz I'll check to see if our vets have that medication..the pills I've been giving her seems to be making her tired so when she sleeps, she's not pulling out her hair...also give her Benadryl every four hours...just like having sick kids

Judy, so glad you MIL is feeling better..is a concern though about her still not knowing what the problem is..your family sounds like mine...tease/tease/tease...

Ruby, I'm dying for something sweet..thought I might go next door and get a chocolate bar...rather have your fudge though...

Dawn, thinking of you today..

Was looking a Gita's house plants..I DON'T DO houseplants...I'd rather pay tripple and get plants that look real..lol...I kill them all..here's a photo of my basement plant...needs a Dr. - not even sure if a Dr. could help..ok/ok so I'm not good with houseplants...lol
Can't be good at everything right?

Betty, oh dear Betty. I have not laughed so hard in a long time.
Oh!!!

Glenview, IL

Oh MY GOSH Betty!
TSK,TSK about your plants..don't know wheather to laugh or cry.LOL guess I'll never have house plants sent your way.
Um...you might try giving them some water. One coffee cup at a time. Let water, hehehe, not coffee drain all the way through and give a second cup. do this until soil is nice and evenly moist. Also, place them in a window...ROTFL, you never know a little TLC goes a long way.

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

waaaaaaaaaaaaaahahhahahahahahahhahahah
Oh dear betty, well i guess we cant be good at everything... giggle....
your lamo is just amazing!! oh why do we have to love so far away!!!
actually can i ask you something? my DS made me a beautiful lamp on an antique base. now one of the wire that hold it inside has popped off. can i just solder that back using the iron you gave me and some solder? or is it special solder?
also, i have to re wire the base as the top part went brittle and broke, is that hard?
i noticed that under the top bit where you click in the bulb, she had glued some metal washers, i dont think she left enough room for the shade to fit, its a tiffany and it wieghs ton which i think is why is keeps popping off the little struts inside!

gita, I SO GET you! The comment about leaving the thread... got it!

hey ruby thanks for the sweets! mmmm

well got asked to my DD for dinner last night so i guess she is over it! glad thats over for now.

youngest pregnant daughter coming today, they are going to run some wiring, they have a computer for me that they will hook up and i can use when ever i want to so i dont have to wait on the DH. they are going to hook it upto the tv in the lounge with a cordless keyboard and mouse so i can lounge back and chat! lol

well off i go into another day

xx

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thought you might get a kick out of my plants..have rooms full of these...I either over water, no water..think I have to talk to them...

Did I miss something about Gita leaving the thread..sure hope not..so enjoy her garden photo's and art...come on Gita..stay with us girl..

Yes Laura, you need some solder and a bit of flux..your hubby will know where to find these I'm sure..and off you go, repair the lamp...

Judy now you don't laugh so hard...my outside gardens are beautiful, guess the Lord and mother nature help look after those plants...

Told you, great at crafts..not the best cook...just baked a cake..caught it right before it burnt..here's last weeks effort..Ruby I AM TRYING!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Betty---RELAX!!!!!

I am NOT leaving the Tread!!!! You must be scanning--but not reading--most of the entries.

All I said was that I feel sad about leaving Thread #29! Same as I was really sad to leave #28! Just seems that every week we are starting a new Thread! So sad.......All the past stuff on the previous Thread just becomes "history"....like all I/we have shared is now "dust"!

This Thread just moves too fast!!! Has anyone, actually, taken a poll on how many of the regular members have Dial Up? If no one has it--we can make the Threads run longer.....
There is something about breaking continuity that is bothersome......

I AM staying with you all--against my better wishes....

Gita

Victoria Harbour, ON

Gita, nope read everything but had changed threads and not gone back to read the old one..I often go back and look at the beautiful pictures and thoughts..just this old mind doesn't remember all...guess it comes with age...

I did relax yesterday..with all the visits and naps the day just passed on by..even the weather co-operated...lol..so nice to wake up this morning and not worry about a storm..

Having coffee and thinking out my week..tummy still upset..hate it when you are just on the verge of being sick and it goes no further than that..either be sick or not...
just not in limbo..hope it wasn't MY COOKING!

Now Gita why would it be against your better wishes..you know you are getting fond of us...now come on, admit it...

See there is no news from Dawn...must have been a difficult weekend for her..maybe she'll drop in today..

Laura..are you all hooked up now??? glad I don't have to share my computer...and yes, pictures of the grandchildren please...

Guess I'd better get upstairs and finish getting ready..love watching Joyce Meyer at 5:30 and then Creflo Dollar Ministries at 6:00..gets me into the right frame of mind for the day..

Gab later..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Rachel, sorry to hear about your friend Nancy loosing her battle with cancer...prayers for you and her family..

I finished the star queares for my quilt and have the center blocks all pinned together. Will try and sew them today then place the stars all around to create the next border. Won't have a lot of time as I have a chiro appt at 4:30 then school at 6:00.

I'll try and chat later.

Jeannine

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Morning all,

Rachel, Sorry to hear of your friends passing. must have been so hard as I assume she was very young.

Betty..hope the freezing rain holds off for your drive home tonight. Nice to hear Suzanne loved the lamp.

Liz..good thing your pump is working..how is the drain pipe working..is everything ok now. Will insurance cover the new wood floor?

Yesterday I watched a 3 DVD set of Celine Dion's Las Vegas show and behind the scenes interviews and how the show was made. It took about 4 hrs ..but I really enjoyed it.

Have a few errands to do today..and so it goes.....

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Betty,

I said "against my better wishes" because I AM "hooked" on you all here---BUT---i spend way too many hours because I AM on here way too much and nothing else gets done!
Not working makes it so easy! I can just sit down every couple of hours and see who has posted what. Like--right now I am eating Lasagna for breakfast and typing with the plate under my arms. Trying to do 2 things at once to save time.....

Not sure what i want to do re my job. In March, I will turn 71 and, somehow, I just don't want to go looking anywhere else for a job. I really like being home! But--my job at HD is SOOOO easy! Sit there and answer the phone, call a few customers if they order has come in, help people out if they just want a price on a 2x4 or something-----easy! When i work the 6AM shift, or the late shift (till 10PM ) There is so many hours with nothing going on. I bring my magazines to catch up on reading them.
When Iwas first hired at the HD, I begged to work in the Greenhouse--and so I did, for 4 1/2 years. Had very painful knee problems--arthritis--no cartlige left--that running around on those concrete floors was getting unbearable. That year, I also turned 65 and was now eligible for some SS payments. So, adding all that together, I went PT and, eventually, they asked me if i wanted to work in the Phone Center to get me off my feet.

Since then, I have had both knees replaced and I don't trust myself if i had to be on my feet 8 hrs a day anywhere else. Pain I don't need! So, I am going to hang in there. If i want to continue working, I will just ride out these hard times. If there are still No hours to be had, I could always transfer to another HD and do the same thing. Only the low-level stores have it this bad, and ours is one of the lowest. Great bunch of people work there, though!

Liz,

Yes! I got all my vacuuming done--I forced myself to finish! And yes! I am getting addicted to you all here. The only way I will cure this addiction is if i ever took this Post off of my "watched" list. Then i would worry about who is doing what and who is posting all these beautiful craft projects. See? It is hopeless........

Here i am with my sister in NY during Christmas. I told you all that I always go up there for the Holidays. My sister and her neighbor and I went to NY to see the sights. I had NEVER been!!!!

Good Morning.

...Rachel, I am sorry to hear the Loss of your Friend Nancy. May you Cherish all the love and memories of your friendship within your heart...you and family are in prayer.

Dawn, Been thinking of you. Come talk when you are ready, Sending a hug.

Betty, Liz and Shar...Hope you are feeling better with your flu bugs.

Liz, LOL...I can't tell you how happy I was to hear you say you had a non Productive day! So glad that you actually take a breather and Oh Gosh, take a rest...shhh,I won't tell anyone. Least of all the couch, watch out, it could gobble you up during these rains, hahah. I love Lifetime movies, haven't seen any for ages though.
Now, I sure hope the re-finishing is something that you'll be able to swing. Be sure to get more than one estimate. Oh, my new neighbors, nice and young. I hope that you build a long a loving friendship...LOL just don't forget about us.

GG, Nice to hear your quilts are coming along nicely.
Laura, Hope you enjoy(ed) dinner with DD...LOL I am confused if that took place already.
Ves, How are you doing? What you been up too? We got 50 degrees here today!!
woohoo, it's a heatwave!

Shar, hoping you are getting in some rest and feeling better..Sometimes the after flu, is just as bad as having the flu...so you take it easy and till you are strong...Soup and rest....Hey and lots of water too, OK I'll stop playing mom.

Hi, Gilli, Tropi, Ruby and Cat...Hope you are all well. Know you are busy...Looking forward to when you can come in for a visit. Sending you smiles.

...Now Gita, "against my better judgement" Hmmm, read that several times. Not quite sure how you mean it, but am glad your other "judgement" has taken over.
I do go back and read threads of past, enjoy some of the stories we have shared and especially the photo's. I know we are a gabby bunch and it is sometimes hard to keep up...LOL to be honest much rather spend time with you and all then doing anything else....Wow, 10 years at HD, thats aswom! I love how they give a nice Bonus for your time. Makes one feel like they are appreciated. Hoping you do decide to get in something with floral...or even expand your crafting. You sound like you enjoy working with people so I am sure there will a wonderful new adventure.

Carol, Thanks for the persmission to print, I just love your garden and your Gazeebo just blows me away. I could sit there for hours, LOL don't be surpirsed if you find me there one day, just sitting and dreaming. LOL...Did you find us? I Love the Library. Use to go all the time in winter, sometimes just to get lost and have my private downtime.

Betty, So glad you had a relaxing weekend too. Did your cake turn out yummy?
Always nice to have spontaneous visitors. Now, Hope you are feeling better today as well.

Well, my weekend was busy, and quiet. Finally started the blanket and (shhhh, don't tell Liz) sat on couch and watched movies too! DB was here too for a quick visit. Great to see him. Also I am planning invitations to my LIL sis's wedding. It's been fun.
Now all you crafters, she threw a curve ball, Wants ...Feathered Roses. Never heard of them have you??? Where might I find any?...Then We are holding a Double surprise party for our Cousins. LOL it is with the pretense it is for me. So I will have to get my act in gear and Clean up my craft table and area , all space will be needed.
Sigh!

Well i best get to my projects...
Have a great day!

Glenview, IL

Oops, cross posted with several...Geeze i am slow!

(Cathy), MO

Good morning everyone. We had a really nice weekend. 50's and sunny on Sat and lower 60's and sunny yesterday. It's going to be 60's again today but is so windy. Then colder temps tonight. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

Has anyone heard from Dawn yet? Hope she's ok.

Rachel sorry to hear about your friend.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers they are much appreciated. Hugs, Rachel

Crozet, VA

Yes Rachie. sorry to hear about your friends death.

Gee ya'll....I see myself in so many of your posts. I sit here and nod in agreement with a lot of things that you type. One that I remember to respond to is Betty and watching Joyce Meyer and Creflo Dollar. It has now been several years since I watched either of them, but I used to watch daily and yes indeed it does put a person in the right frame of mind to face the day.

I am leaving here shortly to go and visit my older son Ben and his family who just moved to a new home this weekend. They have had a very busy year. They got married, had a baby and now have bought a new house. He is so excited and proud and wants me to see the place as soon as I can.

After that I need to stop at Walmart and buy the things on the list that I have been adding to for at least two weeks and maybe more. John, my husband also wants to meet after I shop and take me to dinner at Cracker Barrel for those who know of that chain. It used to be our favorite restaurant but it has been ages since we have eaten there.

It is a nice sunny and clear day today. It is in the 40's and not too bad outside. It will be good to drive to their place because it is a beautiful trip over The Blue Ridge Mountains. I will check back in later and see how everyone is doing.

Take care everyone.

Ruby

Victoria Harbour, ON

Cat..no news...think I'll give her a call when I get home tonight..guess with your weather being in the 60's you'd have to watch not to be over anxious with the gardening...Cat..when travelling with my girlfriends in 1990 doing almost all of Texas I ran across a quilting shop (almost a village I would say) in the middle of nowhere..billboard said 'Million and 1 callico prints'..we laughed because to me at that time we were in an isolated area, so for fun we took the exit and OMG, the entire village street had to do with quilting..quilting while you waiting, and the store took more than a street length,so much..dumb me, forgot to mark the name of the place..almost think it was betwwen St. Louis and not as far as Branson...have you ever heard of it???

Jeannine, sounds as though your day is full..do something for yourself today..will look for cat photo when I get home..let's hope I'm talented enough to draw/paint it..lol..

Judy, feathered roses??? hmm never heard of them..and one would think that someone living in craft stores would...how's work going today?? Is her wedding going to be at your place..that would be fun..outdoor wedding..always nice Judy to have a reason to clean craft room..thank goodness Darlene teaches in mine on Mondays that way I must clean it Sunday night or I'd never find anything..just called the house to tell them to eat up the cake with coffee and no answer so perhaps Darlene cancelled today.. what pattern is your blanket and for whom is it for??

Gita, that's a lovely photo .. sounds like the job at HD is much as mine..just putting in time but getting good $$$..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ruby..now I am envious..Cracker Barrel..so many country things in them that I WANT! Not sure if you've guessed, I love my house to look country..always looking for more treasures..(found the wall telephone that's about 80 years old that I had refurbished..I am trying to find a home on one of my walls for it..)..I'm rambling..so, what I wouldn't give to go with you..the trip in the mountains on a nice sunny day would also add to the excitement of the day, not to mention a visit to DS'.s...lucky you...AND..I love watching the ministry shows, gets to be an addiction..only got to watch part of Creflo because of leaving early..but today I'll put on Joel Olsteen which will make up for it..he's my favorite..

Rachel, know you are hurting today..we're here for you 'sweetie'...

(Cathy), MO

I haven't heard of it Betty but will see what I can find out.

(Cathy), MO

Wow, I had no idea there were so many quilting places in MO!!! Would you recognize the name of the place if you saw it. I'll copy one of the URL's below.
