Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Pt.29 Visit with Friends

You are welcome Gita..

I've been going back through the site "The Illustrated Gardener"..amazing blog...which led me to so many other things and books to read. I have never read Thoreau's Walden..so I requested it from the library.

Also came across a book Two Gardeners ..."Katharine White and Elizabeth Lawrence... A Friendship in Letters" edited by Emily Herring Wilson that intrigues me....my library doesn't have this one..but I may buy it..

Starzz,

I wish i was a reader but I am not! Oh, I can read short things, and magazines and Newspaper articles, but books? Never got into that. With my short attention span and forever busy mind, it would take me months to read anything.
I NEVER just sit and read! I, whose mother was a teacher and whose older sister is a masters degree Librarian.....I do not read books! College was a nightmare!

But--then I do crafts and have painted and create wonderful things and garden every minute i can. They never did/do that! Mom's long gone!

Hi Gita,
I was like you when I was working..but now that I am retired I promised myself I would read more
I enjoy going to the library now. Seldom did that when I was working. I love that you can request a book and they have it there for you in a few days...or weeks if it is a popular one. It is sort of like shopping for free. LOL

Librarians must have a special love for books. I wonder if they read all the time when they are not at the library working.

Yes....you surely are gifted as an artist and creative person.
It makes for a more interesting world if we have different interests and talents.

Have a good evening,
Cheers,
Carol

Hey there gang. Been thinking about you all. Sorry that I haven't posted for a few days. The past few days have been tough. My dear friend and sorority sister Nancy lost her battle with cancer on Thursday. Life has been a little upside down. Feel like things are getting back to normal.

All the pictures of your projects and gardens/flowers are beautiful, I so enjoy them. Love and hugs, Rachel

Carol,

I am almost 71 now...still on the "employed" roll at HD, but have. basically, been laid off now for2 months. I have really enjoyed not having to work, but also apprehensive about the income I would be giving up if I 'retire".....As I am sure you have read--the middle of March is my 10th anniversary at the HD. I will get a $$$ longevity bonus of $500 ($1000 if I was fill time) and I do want to stick it out till then.

As it is right now--I am not looking at any hours (at least NOT at our store) until after March. Maybe I will just "retire" after that. I would still like to work somewhere t0o do with plants--maybe 2 days a week--because of my immense knowledge in that field. Not sure where--or if!

I believe that whatever is meant to come along in my life--will come!

Best to you, Gita
