Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Ohhhhh Betty..what gorgeous dogs!

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

I'm sure you guys might be suspicious of a link I'd send you to, but trust me, everyone needs a little Aretha Franklin every now & then

If anyone would like to sing their heart out w/me this AM, lol....I'm feeling romantic. You have to turn the sound up pretty high because of the quality of the original recording:

"I'm gonna rap on your door, tap on your window, ba---by" :)

enjoy!

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Starzz how pretty. This time of year garden pictures are much appreciated.

Betty I love your shopping and hearing about it. I kind of use to shop like that but had to cut way back. I try not to look very much anymore because it is still too tempting! The Secret Pal will take care of some of those urges for me! LOL

GG love the quilts. Can't decide which I like the best. I think the one of Hobbes because of the sentimental value.
Have a good weekend!

Trop a new kitten will be so much fun. Will you get a rescue kitty?

Well Liz our truck day went very well. All put away that could be. Now we are stepping around spring merchandise and Memorial wreaths! Couldn't they wait 2 months?

I just tried looking back and there is so much. I'm exhausted! Will go from memory.

Shar glad you are about back to normal and you are doing a wonderful job with the secret pal stuff. I am so looking forward to it. I just have to get my butt in gear.

Laura congrats on the new baby that's coming. Can hardly wait for pictures of it. But I guess I have to.

Dawn so sorry for Mushi. Give him a scritch for me. I just love the name. Can you tell us where it came from and post a picture. Please if you are up to it. There are so many wonderful pets waiting to greet him. Hugs to you.

Ruby trying to organize. Isn't hard for me but keeping it up is the true test. I don't. Then I am right back where I started. At least I get better every year.

The memory ran out. Hi to all I missed.

No big plans today but to get caught up on DG. Then go to work.

Best. It's fri. and I have one more day of work and then 3 off.

Worst they are talking snow-rain today and tomorrow.

What did I learn. I prefer the colder temps over the snow-rain!

Trop..just need someone to dance with here in the office, wonder if Wayne or Paul would...I used to love getting up early, putting radio on and we'd dance..DH wasn't always as enthused as I was but he'd agree..nice way to start a day!

Carol, my flowers were not a vine though..they almost looked as though they had dandelion leaves...if you pulled the flower off another would bloom...better go back into my posts and read to see what you said they were..in the meantime..think I'll keep one of those boxes I bought yesterday and there is a journal..start documenting my plants...now there is an idea....

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Betty those dogs are so pretty! So white!

Trop I'm going there with you!

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

we are going to get a cat from a shelter, but we want a gray male...so...fingers crossed

On a roll here, Betty, don't think you'll need anyone to dance with on this one...if you guys can resist the urge to move (trust me):

OK, I can't help myself, but these are the last, I promise it's not Baby's got Back or anything:

waiting for the neighbors to come over here and tell me to shut up, and our homes aren't that close.

and that's enough syrupy stuff for today :)

lol...I've got the 'preacherman' on...might just get up and do a line-dance to it..miss teaching line-dancing..one of these days...good luck on the 'kittie'

Liz,

Brugmansias are known as "Angel Trumpets". Daturas are known as "Devil's Trumpets". One difference is that the Brug. flowers hang down and the Datura flowers point up.
All Brugs, Daturas, Morning Glories, Moon Vine, etc belong to the "Nightshade" group of plants. ALL these plants are toxic if ingested! Every part of them! Always wash your hands after handling them.

Yes! I started my Daturas indoors. They are slow to germinate and grow in the beginning. Once you plant them into beds outside--they just take off. I started all kinds of seeds last year. Will try to do less this year, as I have space only for a 24" light and they only provide 20 W each. NOT really enough for seedlings. I have NO place to set up a 4' shop light, which is more ideal.

Here are my double yellow Datura seedlings last Spring. This must be in late May sometimes, as I already have them outside. For those of you growing Daturas from seed, allow them to grow to at least 4"-5" in the small pots before you plant them outside. Try NOT to mess with their roots! Just lift out and plant in the beds. Once they start rooting in, they will take off like crazy!

Good morning all. Still morning for another 30 min anyway!

I do IT work Liz. It's a Federal job and more and more of those are getting outsourced these days. We don't know what will happen, but several of my counterparts are really sweating it.

Hope you all have a super day. Tropicana I can't access your links from work but will when I get home!

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

gardengirl, i went and had another look at those quilts.. OMG!! they are magnificent! I just dont have the patience and unfortunately the eyesight for that. I admire anyone who can do such things.. they are amazing and a credit to you. I love them not only for the colours but the love that goes in, the fact that they become heirlooms and just the joy of looking at them, they are so.... nostalgic dont you think? your sooo clever.

Gita your paintings are sensational. I love the wolves!! amazing... isnt it incredible how much talent is on this thread, you all have somethng that you can do, share, and teach wether it be crafts, gardening, lifes lessons. we are blessed to have each other. I have said it before and I will again, you are my angels, you save me from the gloom when its darkest and give me what i need to get through,

thanks

UNBELIEVABLE...blizzard going on, some of the roads here are unpassable..did I not JUST leave blue sky and sunshine...lol...oh well...that's life, I'm home safe and sound, going to run a bath, get into jammies and here I'll stay till Monday...

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Laura, I love your words. They are always a gift to all of us.
Shar

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Me, too, Betty....jammies and a long shirt, and here I am. Gonna paint, paint, paint this weekend. I am so glad you are safely home.

We don't have the blizzard, but it was 16 this morning. That goes right into my bones and stays there.

So stay warm....will be back later.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Post marks sort of give the surprise up, don't they Shar? If it comes from Ca. It is Liz or I. Well anyway. My babies are all surounding me asleep while I type with the space heater on in here. Didn't snow but it still could. It snowed a lot real close to here and I can see snow on all the foothills within 15 or 20 minutes but not here.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Betty..if the leaves looked like dandelion leaves they may have been Oriental Poppies.
Did they look like this?

Carol, I love oriental poppies. Your photo is beautiful.
Here is my moonflower bush, it is not the vining one, it is a lush, sturdy bush and I usually keep it in a container, then save the seeds. The one that you see reseeded itself.

This is at at 4 pm, around the first of August.

when it is in full bloom as it is in the last picture, I find myself outside for hours, just inhaling.

I liked your timed collage, Carol, but don't know how to do that.

Ummmmm. That one takes my breath away. Full sun, I think? And do they reseed?

Do you all believe that today and tomorrow--here in the frozen weather--they are having the annual "Polar Bear Plunge" on a beach near the Bay? I mean--it is below freezing--and there will be about 20,000 some people that will rush into the beach, in just shorts and a T-shirt and then run back out--all to raise about 4Million $$ for the Special Olympics.

They have been doing this for years! The participants all say it is the best "rush" they can have! Of course--all this is set up with heated tents and lots of food and such--just like the World's biggest tail gate party! The have been showing pictures of all these people on the news now all day.

THEN! There is the Super Hardy bunch--the "Super Plungers"------The started this afternoon, and will "plunge" every hour on the hour for 24 hours! Now--that is challenging!!!! Strange--that there have never been any people dying of a heart attack or anything....

ONLY in Baltimore!!!!! YES! This City is full of surprises!!!!!

Gita

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Laura----

YOU are the one who sent us all angels!!!! I love mine--it swings to and fro as I drive my car--hanging from the mirror.

I would like to shorten the wire a bit so it won't swing so much. I am afraid it will hit something and break. Can you tell me how I could do that?

Have you been back to the beach where all those wonderful shells are? Do you ever want to make anything out of those? What a wonderful source! And so many!!!! If you have made things from all those shells--will you please post a picture?

I still have a box-full of big, beautiful Conch Shells that I picked up on the beach of Assetigue Island. I was then 4 months pregnant with my oldest daughter. She will be 43 in a few days!!! Never did anything with them........BUT--I have saved them!--....of course.....
Anyone have any ideas?????

Time to take a break, have some supper and then to bed...

I'm so pleased with what I accomplished this aft.

Wanted to make Suzanne a stained glass lamp and thought after seeing all of Jeannine's quilts to perhaps make one with a quilted type theme....but better still, using left over glass..don't worry Gita lol I've boxes and boxes...might even make me one...

With it being straight lines, it cut up really easy...here's 2 panels put together to give you an idea how the pattern will join..all together I cut glass for the 6 panel I need to make the lampshade.makes a substantial size lamp shade...

I'm done in though so off I go..must look outside..came in downstairs this aft. haven't been upstairs so have no idea is the snow has stopped or is still brewing..know for sure though it's not sunshine out there..giggle/giggle...

Shar..mine stays right on the ground (leaves that is) later I'll go looking for photo....

Gita..we don't do the polar bear but we do a 'puddle jump' local organizations make an area I'd say about 30 ft. wide by maybe 1,000 ft. and individuals on snowmobiles take a run at the open water hoping their machine is strong enough to make it to the other end..local fire depts and police are on hand to get them out of the drink safely and their machines of course when they don't quite make it...last one wins the pot...thousands/thousands of people come to this event...it's mighty cold watching but fun..

This year the quality of ice won't allow for it..must see if I have pictures or tape of it happening...Roger of course was an avid fan of snowmobile..started the are snowmobile club but thank goodness he never got into that part of it..mainly because he'd never want to put his machine through a possible sinking...

Before I go, see what a mess I can do in about 4 hrs...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Tomorrow now I can foil the pieces, perhaps solder the 6 panels and Sunday..I'll have a lampshade...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Shar, we're having a p.j. party..lol...
Dawn, my thoughts and prayers are with you..
Laura, you are sleeping..tomorrow's Sunday for you..enjoy the day perhaps even a visit to the beach would be in order...

Good Morning All - I think that I forgot to compliment Jeannine on the quilts. They had me drooling. So beautiful.

My creative outlet for the day is baking. I mentioned to hubby that I was going to make fudge for a friend of ours and he said to make an applesauce cake instead. I might do both, depending upon how the day goes. I still have supplies for two things that I didn't get around to preparing over the holidays. I have the ingredients for a Christmas Stollen and every thing for a batch of Cherry Wink Cookies. If I have lots of energy today, maybe I will do one or the other of those too. We will see.

Not much to coment on at the moment. I will check back in from time to time today. I hope that everyone will enjoy their weekend.

Morning all..bright outside today, plowman just came and did my drive so guess I'm ready for travel..had it not been for the blizzard yesterday aft. I'd have gone to the stained glass studio to pick up supplies...so, this morning I must go and drop into the vets (Sailor has pulled all her hair again...hot spots I would imagine) must get some medication then off to the studio and then home for the remainder of the weekend...

Couldn't sleep part of the night so up and got 3 of the 6 panels tacked together..would have finished all 6 had it not been for running out of foiling materials...

I must decided..I had purchased 3 lovely lamp bases at a church funtion last fall..so pretty, working condition..I would have like to change all the electrical on it though, but Gail (glass studio) says its retro antique and not to do so..I'd feel more comfortable in doing it though..what you think?

Gita, went back and look at the can and the writting is normal so perhaps when I rotated the photo to horizontal rather than vertical it reversed..lol..how very observant you are...and there are always scraps at Gails, great color so I'll pick more up, display them in a photo and you can pick..how's that...

Shar, you still in your jammies?
