Game Predictions

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Yea!!!!!! I think I'm the only Giants fan here. I don't usually follow football but my family are Giants fans and really into the game so I joined them this year and had a Super Bowl Party for them. We had a good time eating and watching the game. It was kinda nerve-wracking to watch!! Eleanor

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Patti - You get to hear those meaningless words like my team did "still had a good year"LOL

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

They deserved to win, they played harder and better. x, Carrie :>(

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It was a great year for the Pats and they have nothing to be ashamed of. They were just outplayed tonight. I'm a Jets fan remember! I really did believe the Giants would win though and I am not as shocked as so many others are.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Al, maybe a tad better than GB. I love sports, but I don't take it as any more than a game, so I will have no nightmares over it, just wonderment as to how Eli managed to throw that one pass and have it caught by Tyree. Play of the year, maybe. Patti

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I didn't lose as much money as I think a lot of Pats fans probably did. DH all of a sudden remembers that he lived in NY for the first 30 years of his life, maybe he doesn't mind so much. (And maybe it doesn't really matter anyway.) x, Carrie

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Congrates to the Giants and their fans. A really good game by both teams. Way more defense than I thought it would be though. Well at least we are used to handling this sort of stuff after all those lean years.
Now we have to wait for the Sox to start up. I feel bad for the players after all that hard work and pressure this season, it will be a long summer for them. So you think they will draft a lineman?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Giants were amazing!
The Pats hadn't looked that invincible lately and they didn't today. But I still thought that when Brady marched them down for that go ahead TD, they would do it. This had to be about the most enjoyable Superbowl ever. I am glad for Eli. He has put up with a lot in NY.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I am and always have been a die hard GIANT fan. Tonight I prayed to the NFL Gods, and they listened. Oh yeah and the Giants played their hearts outs. Particularly the defense. And the offense did what they had to do when it mattered. My SO had to drag me off the street as I was so excited I was trying to flag down cars to let them know the Giants had won the SUPERBOWL. He couldn't stop laughing at me.That's one of the reasons I love him. And love the Giants, Sorry Pats and sorry the big Tom. BUT WE WON!! against all odds

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

ok - i could care less about football - but i have been watching some of the "most popular" ads online, and i have to say - i love the Budweiser "Rocky" commercial (hey i'm from STL - the Clydesdales were a big part in my childhood) - but the Bridgestone tires squirrel is hysterical! Did y'all see that?

(Though the Richard Simmons one was pretty funny too...

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Amy, I saw the rocky commercail and was ROFL and thje squirrel commercial with all the animals big eyed and howling was a good one too. Didn't catch Richard.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

you can see most of them on youtube, but i think it is really busy right now...

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Though I am all for the Patriots, they deserved to lose, they played rotten and their usual luck in the last few games ran out.

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Now for the commercials!! The one I really liked was the basketball player (forgot his name - remember I don't follow sports very much) riding with the rest of the jockeys in a horse race. He looked ridiculous when they showed the back views and he was bigger than the horse. I was rolling with laughter even though it was computer generated according to my two DDs. Eleanor
p.s. - Obviously I don't get out and laugh much!!

What nice news to see on my screen first thing this morning! Hurray for the Giants!

Victor wins first place honors for coming closest with the score!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

What do I win? Maybe the Giants can let the Jets touch the trophy? I agree about the commercials - best in many years. I loved the FedEx one with the pigeons. And many others, including the T-Day parade floats.

I have one gripe. They should not be called the NY Giants. They turned their back on the city long ago. At least the Jets maintained their office and training camp in NY, but that too will change with the new stadium. They should both be called NJ. Why do they get a Broadway parade but the Devils did not?? Because they used to play here over 30 yrs ago? Then the LA Dodgers should have gotten one too!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Now see, Victor, I thought the ads were pretty contrived, but then SB ads always impress me with how hard they try and they're still just commercials. millions of pazzoozles per second of airtime and all they want you to do is buy Pepsi, not save the world or "think globally act locally", just buy Pepsi? x, Carrie

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Ok, I am sad! but they are the BEST team on the NFL regardless... not that I understand a lot about football!!!! I just love them!
I am not happy for the mannings, or any giant fan! sorry! I am a sore looser...

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

that's OK Kassia - it was a tough one to lose.....

I didn't think the Patriots coach should have walked off the field before the game even ended? I'm sorry that he was so unhappy but that did not send a sportsmanlike message to his team or young people watching the game....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hate to say it, but that's no surprise from him. The juvenile way he acted with the Jets coach last year was pathetic. He wouldn't even mention his name. Gimme a break!

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

My DH told me that he was the Cleveland Browns coach for 2 years and couldn't do a thing...they didn't have very good players and he couldn't guide them....then when he went to NE and they surrounded him with with great players....all of a sudden he went from being the coach who couldn't get out of his own way to a demi-god......

Sports is weird......kinda like life.....

Amherst, NH

Congratulations to the fabulous New York Football Giants and their
fans. I have no great love for the Mannings but Eli's escape from the
Pat's defense and pass to Tyree and the amazing catch were the stuff of legend. I'm sure we'll be seeing that catch on NFL films for the rest of our lives. The Pats deserve praise as well, for keeping their focus through all the media attention and scrutiny concerning
Spygate 1, Moss's legal issues, Brady's ankle, Spygate 2 and Arlen
Spectre(sic), etc. Too bad it's not just a simple game played for the
enjoyment of the fans, anymore. It's still a better sport than baseball.
So please leave Tom Brady alone if you see him at Giselle's until
his ankle and psyche have healed, and as we always say here in
New England, "wait 'til next year".

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Maybe I missed a few commercials during potty break, but the ones I saw I thought were the worst ever! Didn't care for Tom Petty either.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not too many NE fans enjoyed the commercials.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

that's funny

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i love the squirrel commercial.

i'm glad someone else mentioned Belichick walking off the field before me! i know nothing much about football, but i know i am appalled at that sort of behavior - imean, c'mon, tough it out! Whatever happened to winners never quit, and quitters never win?

Two years ago, SCSU had him as their "Distinguished Lecturer" (the year before was Madeline Albright), and apparently he left so abruptly immediately after speaking, and would talk to NO one. i'd never heard of him, i guess his team had won the superbowl that year, but from what i heard about him from people who worked the event, my impression was not positive.

Maybe he can come back and inspire college students to only support their colleagues when they are successful, and to quit when things aren't going their way.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Wouldn't that be super? lol, Carrie

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Game over, I am on to Base Ball. Have tickets to see Red Sox, not at their park, but at Minn Twin's park on Feb 29th. Only day we could go as we have to be back in Boston by the 2nd. It is the opening game at night, so there will be fireworks. We will head down to do some birding and visit friends for a week. I am not a huge fan of the heat or traffic, but I love getting barefoot in the winter and eating some different seafood.

I always found this strange: That the only two teams that have no plural form "Red Sox" and 'White Sox", as all the rest are plural. Though when I say I am a "Red Sox" fan I seem to add the "s". But when I write it has no "s". i.e. Ortiz plays for the Red Sox, he is a great Red Sox DH. But I would write, Santana now play for the Mets, and I think he will be a great Met pitcher. I guess it is winter and I tend to think about dumb things. Patti

Baltimore Orioles
Boston Red Sox
New York Yankees
Tampa Bay Rays
Toronto Blue Jays
Chicago White Sox
Cleveland Indians
Detroit Tigers
Kansas City Royals
Minnesota Twins
Oakland Athletics
Seattle Mariners
Texas Rangers

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I agree Victor, I say they should be 'Jersey's team, seems so silly having to go to 'Jersey to see a NY team in their "home stadium".
Sounds like A&C's "Who's On First" skit! lol! ☺

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Patti, aren't you worried about what a little sun might do to you? I mean if you're like this, now, add 85 degrees for a few days and you'll be all mush and pink nail polish up there. (Don't be offended; some of my favorite people wear pink nail polish.)

x, Carrie

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Patti,
There used to be only four of them in any sport, the sox teams being 2 of them and the Utah Jazz (NBA) being a third. I forgot the 4th one (hockey?).
There is now a women's basketball team ;the Detroit Shock

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Actually, back then it was the New Orleans Jazz, Dave. I thought it was only three.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I know... Isn't Utah Jazz just too ironic?

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

er, double posted. thought i stopped this one.
oops.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

o, that makes sense!
i'd always wondered about the Utah "Jazz" - of all the things that come to mind when i think of Utah, jazz is really not one of them.
i've always thought that the St. Louis Blues is a clever name.
o, i guess maybe that is the other one, eh?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - they should have been forced to change their name. It's like having the St. Louis Phillies or something.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

No, Blues ends with "s"

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Tampa Bay Lightening
Minnesota Wild

Both hockey but I think both came into existance later

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yeah, there are more now - Miami Heat is another.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Orlando Magic
