I'm already fired up about the Pro Bowl, I've got a couple G's on the NFC.
Game Predictions
I've never watched the pro bowl, maybe it'll be my first this year. Good luck Al!
Al - what would your "couple of G's" be?
1,000's baby!
Pennies from heaven?
Probably snowflakes.
The Pro-Bowl is so unpopular they can't get players to show up anymore. So in a stroke of genius, they are moving it from Hawaii to Tampa! That'll work.
Good call on the "Jints", Vic. Did you ever play? Bob Tucker was my freshman HS football coach in Acton, Ma. He was cut by the Pats and played semi-pro for the Lowell Giants, then played 11 seasons for the NY Giants and the Vikings with Tarkenton. He showed me how to throw a block once in practice and nearly killed me and the kid I landed on. He hit me so hard my kids were born cross-eyed. He also played for the fabled
Pottstown Firebirds semi-pro team. That is my only brush with a
semi-famous person, pretty sad, huh? Anyhoo, the SB should be
a snooze-fest unless Brady throws more INT's or Moss allegedly
assaults someone during the game. Hopefully playing in warm weather will equalize things. Those cold weather games just make things too weird and anything can happen.
Funny drzz! Actually I am a Jets fan but will be pulling for the Giants. I think they have a decent shot. They played them well in that last game. I thought the Giants coach was disgusting for screaming at the kicker when he missed the first one. Not much class there.
Drzz, I only played touch and flag football. At 5' 7" I would not have lasted long! Though I did love playing tackle with my friends as a kid - without any equipment of course. When I played touch in my late teens and early 20's, we did win the championship one year. That was fun. We played in the Bronx right next to where the NYC bomb squad brought any explosives to blow up! So every time we saw that truck go by, we wondered. Then we'd say, 'Go for a bomb!'
Dave - I did hear rumors of them wanting to move the Pro Bowl to the week before the SuperBowl, but there were complaints because then the players in the Super Bowl wouldn't play - but they always bow out anyway. I don't really watch any all star games - does the Laffalympics count?
Are they really moving it? I never watch either. Football is different than the other sports though. Too easy to get hurt. Why risk it? They should do a Superstars type competition. Remember that show? I loved it. My favorite was Joe Frazier walking in the pool!
I can see why no one wants to play the Pro Bowl - the season's over and everyone wants to "go home", not play another game. Maybe FL will help some this year.
I watch a lot of football.
They all wanted to be voted to the ProBowl though - helps with their contract negotiations.
I meant I just don't watch the Pro Bowl. True about the contracts. Maybe they should just play touch football and more would show.
Perhaps if it meant something like the Baseball All star games do now, they would be more apt to play and play for real. But coming at the end as opposed to at mid season, I expect it is like a horse wanting to head to the barn. Plus so many are busted up by now. My knee guy in Boston will no doubt be busy as soon at the Pats win the Superbowl. He will be on the sidelines as he always is in case of injury, but I know he has some already scheduled for some knee and shoulder work. When you call his office, the receptionists says, "knee or shoulder?" you reply, then she says, "left or right?" But the NYG do worry me. Last game was a bit too close for a Pats fan.
If we all get together for a RU, perhaps we could have a little flag football game. It sounds like we might have a couple of Pros. I would be game, perhaps a bad-gamer, but I would still enjoy an amble on the playing field, as I can't get up much speed these days. Patti
Funny about the receptionist! What would the proctologist's receptionist say?
"whats up?"
When do you want to come in?
No, that would be the ED specialist!
what a game! more exciting than the Pats... but I hope with all my heart for a perfect season... another repeat of 2004... first the Red Sox and then the Pats...
Can you imagine? we are facing a Manning again... sorry, but Eli is no Tom Brady! lol....
So let's start predicting the score!
Pats 24 Giants 14... sounds reasonable to me...
As much as I like the Pats, and want to see them have the perfect season, there is something about Eli. And to have 2 brothers in Superbowls 2 consecutive years...
I normally never bet but the 14 point spread is tempting me.
I wonder if it will end up being less.
i guess that doesn't make sense as there are no more games
It usually decreases as the game nears.
Victor, did you learn the ins and outs of sports gambling in the Clink??
2 touchdown things and one of those kicking things to 3 kicky things and a timeout(not sure if they get points for those)
With or without the extra kicky thing after the touchdown?
Do they do that on all the touchdowny things?
Some Tynes.
I really do like to watch those games - I just never understand what is going on.
You left out the two - point touchdowny things! I prefer mud-wrestling. Much easier to understand.
Louise, you said Clink - it reminded me of Col. Klink of Hogan's Heroes! But, that's another thread . . .
Mud wrestling featuring men, Victor, or women?
Is that a three part choice?

As you like it.
The last two, in that case.
