Thank you Louise.
What do you miss during the winter? Part 2
Very nice, Victor!! Did you put it in yourself? I really love the viburnum!
That is gorgeous, Victor. How long did it take to build it?
I had someone do the actual pond, but to my specs. I did all the planting - in and around the pond.
Seems like your vision came true.
Sorry - we crossed, Pirl. The pond itself was done in just a few days. It was done in the Fall of '03. By the next summer the plantings were looking pretty good and by the following year it started to look like I wanted. I'm still changing things here and there - especially since I lost the shade of a big maple last year.
I would say so, Pirl!!
Do you keep any fish in it? I've wondered if they would winter over in a pond.
Looks like your JM is very happy in that spot! I have one that I intend to move to a pond area if we ever put one in. Is your waterfall close enough to your house to hear the water during the summer when the windows are open?
Yes - I made sure it was close enough for that. I wanted it a few feet closer than it is, but I came home from work and the hole was dug!
Awesome victor! Eleanor
Nice DF photo! How sad that you lost your koi - so pretty! Was the cold the cause of the loss?
Thanks Eleanor! Not sure, Louise. They had been through colder winters. I think the prolonged warm temps last Jan, followed by a big drop in temps and some snow over the heater which keeps a hole open, may have been the reason.
Thanks for posting more pictures. I never tire of looking at beautiful water gardens!
Beautiful pond and stream Victor and Songs. Just beautiful. ...sigh... makes me long for spring that much more. Victor, what does the pond look like this time of year?
Victor thanks for the jolt. Seeing your pond with the JMaple and grass is going to send me out as soon as possible to look for a special maple for mine and to order some grass that won't take over my world. Thanks to you and Joy for sharing on this cold, windy and snowy day here, a real pick me up. Patti
Sorry - I've been down by my parents for a few days...yes the clematis is Sweet Autumn.
I'm planning on putting clematis in my front yard. I have a hedge that is not as full as I want. I'm thinking that several clematis would fill it in nicely and give my blooms as well. The hedge should act as a great support.
I'll try to get a pic, Harper. I've been adding more conifers around it. Patti, pick tame grasses. Can't wait to remove the miscanthus - it flops all over the JM and gets too tall. 'Karl Foerster' is perfect.
Victor - I have that one, too, and it's like a beacon in the garden.
Aha, Victor! So you DO like some of the hot orange flowers!! Gorgeous!!
As I said - exceptions to all rules...Thanks.
They look like they're glowing - like mini flashlights!
Yes, they do look like lights.
Aren't those funky Victor, my Laevis and China asters had buds like that.
Lovely, Victor!
Thank you. I do recommend it. It produces way more than my other Stokesia.
Well, there's always Crayola! ☺
I miss my porch! Today I was in there, cleaning, for three hours. I need fewer plants and more room so I can enjoy the sunny days like today without feeling I'm Jane of the jungle.
Well on the positive note there's always your 'Tarzan'... ! ☺
I've kept my indoor plants to (3) , I have enough soil being treked into the house as is... since I'm surrounded by it! - Just finished vacuuming. ☺
I dunno Arlene, feeling like Jane of the jungle might be nice!
That's a snow MOUNTAIN Al!
