Stop and visit, talk all you want. pt 10

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Somebody certainly got their info wrong if you are in the 40's Marie. I might as well stay where I am! LOL

Hi, Beckie!! How cold is it where you are?

(Zone 7a)

Good morning!

Stop lurking, Bhaugh! Come out and say more than "Hi". LOL

Janis, sorry about your fall! That's aweful! Your hand okay after that one?

Tammy? We need to get into more trouble!

Mau, I saw on another thread that you're allergic to gold. My mom is too. She can only wear the white gold or platinum. Poor her. Heh heh heh. It's the alloy that makes the gold yellow to which she's allergic. (Ha! How's that for good grammer! LOL)

Terry, DH says we DID lose some stuff. He says we need to come visit and get it back! LOL

And I was just on the phone reading through all the posts this morning and I had my DD on the phone. She says you're all wimps. It's -4º where she is today!!!!!!!!!! And she's outside!!!!!! (It's only 15º here. Quite warm.)

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

I think I want to be allergic to gold too :o)

Celia, no no, no hearts for me. To country for my taste. So I don't do hearts and don't think I've got any. I have been given hearts before, as gifts, but slowly and surely I've gotten rid of them. I took a picture so you'll know what you're looking for. Behind it, you'll see another shelf still wrapped in the bubble wrap. I left that in the picture just to give you an idea on what you're looking for.

Celia, if I can ever get rested enough, we MUST get into some more trouble! OH, I already feel the flyswatter, Mau! please be easy and not hit my back, though! HA HA HA
Beckie, come out, come out, wherever you are! HE HE HE

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Here's another floor after, but furniture not put back in....

Terry, those are amazing, well done!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Thank you! I forgot the before picture that I don't have to mess with adjusting color or brightness.....it's the back area, same as picture #1 (of floors)

(Zone 7a)

Tammy, I think she likes us too much to get the flyswatter anymore! LOL Your poor back though. I feel your pain.

Terry, the heart shelves came with the house so we're just running with it. I painted them and they're going in the dining room and have family pics put on them. There are five of them. We picked the green because it goes with the dark green wall. That wall and the one in the front room were painted by the previous owner. The other one is maroon. She also had this aweful....can't remember what it's called. Like wallpapaer but in narrow strips? Roses in the bathroom, flowers in the back bedroom and paisley EVERYWHERE else! We've managed to get the bathroom and both bedrooms off but the rest is giving us fits! We're thinking of just painting over it.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

My house came with a plastic chandelier in the dining room. Not that was really something!

If it's wallpaper, don't paint over it. It always shows. Steam it, use downy, whatever you prefer.

(Zone 7a)

Steaming? I am officially old. Don't know why we didn't think of that. I have one of those steamers that clean everything! Duh!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Celia, it still hurts, but have too much housework calling my name!
Terry, I have been watching your spelling mistakes now! LOL

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

You could try that, but that wasn't exactly what I had in mind. I was thinking more along the lines of a wallpaper steamer. But that's exactly why you don't want to paint over the wallpaper either. If it's in a bathroom and there's a shower, the steam from it will lift, sooner or later, the wallpaper with now attached paint, will lift.

(Zone 7a)

Do any of you know about coleus? I started some from seed. and am wondering if they'll come true.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I don't know if they will or not, have hear they may not, but I just bought me some at Lowe's that should. They are just beautiful!!!

(Zone 7a)

Terry, this stuff was almost impossible to remove. The previous owner said it was in the bathroom about 8 years. We did get that off.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

What mistakes. I do have to say that in this fog, and being that my vision is all blurred, well, it's a task just to be on here.

(Zone 7a)

The little seedlings are so cute.

(Zone 7a)

Yeah. What mistakes?

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

You know how wallpaper has lines in it? Those lines show up when you paint, unless you do what the yokel did in my sisters cabin down in AR. He put joint compound over the lines. Rent a steamer. You say you're old, how old is old?

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Just a few, Terry, that is all. :) Forgot about the blurry vision, sorry!!!!! :(
My dirt is frozen, so I can't plant mine yet! LOL

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Celia, tell me how old this house is.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

What? Where? Tammy, I'm waiting....

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I shouldn't have said anything, I feel bad now! Hiding in my corner with my crayons!!!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Tammy, don't feel bad. I honestly want to know if I've made a spelling mistake. I'm sort of a fanatic on spelling, getting it right and so on and so forth.

(Zone 7a)

Terry, the house was built in 1972. It's not really wallpaper. It's this stuff...

WOW, I just found another "Sienna" on The Price is Right!

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Yuck I hare wallpaper and that border stuff. I spent days trying to get it off the bathroom walls in my current house when we were trying to make it acceptable to live in!!

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Okay, Mau is back.
And Celia, just ask my grandchildren if I won't spank them with that flyswatter--liking has nothing to do with it so you girls better mind your manners!! LOL

Wallpaper can be painted successfully (you need to "Kilz" it first) but it might not work too well in a bathroom where there is a lot of steam. I rented a wallpaper steamer once for $50.00 and it did absolutely NO GOOD whatsoever. We had to just strip the wallpaper off inch by inch--talk about slow-- after spraying it down with water and letting it soak. Took a LONG time but we finally got it all off.

What do you mean you don't have hearts, Terry? You do have one heart that is as big as Texas!!! The floors look great but I'm not showing these photos to Pau until after the Spring thaw. If he sees them he will be moving in with y'all pronto! He loves old houses and old woodwork and other old things, including old me (thank goodness)! LOL

Never started coleus from seed, Celia. Somewhere on the Mid-South forum there is a thread about starting stuff from seed. I'll see if I can go find it. They might have something on coleus. BRB

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

A border? I stopped using wallpapers and borders a long time ago, because I they bore me after 6 months, if even. This house was nothing but wallpaper. I rented a steamer for 2 straight weeks. I worked on nothing else in this house, but removing wallpaper. A steamer is messy to work with, but it works great. Is the top part paper? Or is it vinyl? If it's vinyl, you need to remove that down to the brown paper, then remove that. Score it first.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

first one I didn't mis-spell, I wrote not instead of now (I think). 2nd one I can't find anything wrong?

(Zone 7a)

I'll give that try. I think it's vinyl. There is brown paper under it. I wanna move in with you, too!

(Tammy, come out and leave those crayons alone!)

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

The Not/Now we would get counted off on! LOL
Same way with the second one-to=too

(Zone 7a)

I'm glad I'm not in this contest! LOL

(Zone 7a)

Another Sienna? Not possible!!! LOL

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Celia, I don't share my crayons don't you know! LOL

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

lol, yep, Tammy is right. I'm still trying to figure out how you caught it! LOL

Everybody come on up or over or however you have to get here. I'm always home. I'll leave a light on!

Celia, you need to get that vinyl part off first, then work on the paper under it. Do you have a scorer?

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I only knew of one other besides ours, till now!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I have to be on my toes, Terry! LOL
