Question TJ, just to make sure everyone is on the same page. Is it just members that are paying like the last swap in Arlington, or will each person pay? Also is there a list for the tour to see actually how many want to go on the buses? Guess my point is will we need two additional buses?
The price is fine with me.
North Texas Garden Party - April 19th
The price is fine with me too. Still do not know if we will get to make it. Sure sounds like fun!
Sheila, the cost would be $6 per person taking the tour. I never thought of folks not wanting to go on the tour. I guess we can make it optional, but I'll need to know who is going on the tour in advance, so I'll know how many vans we'll need. Maybe the tour is just too much.
We are taking it ..
Mike and I are going.
Christi
Everything looks good to me, TJ -- the cost, the tour, the food, the BRISKET! :-)
Carla
bronc, for me it would be more cost effective if i just meet up with everyone and take my own car. is that o.k. with you?
That's more than ok by me, Mama. You do what you need to, I know you'll have a crew with you.
thank you. now i know i will owe for the food and that is fine but i'll save this 20.00 if i can. just thought though this 6.00 is just for the bus ride, right? not to get in anywhere, right? is there costs associated with entrance fees anywhere? i just need to know how much money i will need.
$6 is just to pay for the tour. We will be touring public and private gardens in Waxahachie as well as nurseries, so there is no cost to get in anywhere. Be sure to sign up to bring a dish on the FOOD thread.
Isn't that the weekend I'm coming up Christi? So guess I'll be going too.
Sorry to ask the question then dissappear, but still have to work, not retired yet!
The price was fine with me TJ, I just didn't want you to over extend yourself and concerned that others coming know it was $6 each person, and not per member. But didn't someone say somewhere we would need to kick in extra for the brisket?? That is a lot of expense for one family to bear.
I will be getting back after a week up in WA in time for the RU and needing some warm TX sun, so someone needs to bring that please!!!!
Glad you are getting to come RJ, it will be nice to meet you.
We are footing the bill for the brisket. Our pleasure. Yes, it is our special time to have RJ as our house guest. Can hardly wait. Do ya'll know anyone as lucky as I am?
Christi
Wow Christi, that is a definate gift to all of us!
My DH said he would come, but I am not sure he knows I plan to stay for a while, LOL! I will make sure he knows before we go though. He has only gone to one swap in the past with me and it wasn't a DG group. I do hope he will come and meet some of my crazy gardening friends that I spend so much time with!
LouC well to tell the truth yeah I do ...ME ..why cause I consider myself dang lucky to have found all of you Texans on DG
I wouldn't have found the rose sales nor have had the chance to meet everyone at th RU last fall in Arlington nor had anyone to have some fun with and learn about the Texas way of gardening.
I would be sitting here at home with no friends to talk with other then DH and the dogs.
but you got all the pie mibus. look what we would have missed. and by the way....i can't believe this but....my sister wants some of that infernal bamboo you have. do you have any left? she wants a bunch. a friend of ours has a neighbor that loves to peak thru the trees at his house and he wants a living, impenetrable fence.
louc....who is rj? AND THANK YOU for the brisket.
bronc....how much money for everything else (besides the tour bus)? sorry to beat a dead horse but i really need to know so i can budget. if you are going to a lot of expense for us we need to help you so let us know. and just so you know i won't drink but a fifth or two of tequila. just so you know. lol.
Do I have bambbo left????? oh you silly girl ...I have a ton of it here the roots are still here I am working lil by lil every day I cna to dig it out.
How far are they from me?
I am home this week due to spring break so I am out there every day workin on it ...y'all can come help and take all ya want it is already sending up shoots again.
let me tell my sister. it's her friend and if he wants to i can drive out with him. i don't want the stuff so he's got to come to. lol. where is flint? is that around denton? i was thinking you were south of me but evidently not. anyway it would be sun. before i could come. and right now he is birthing goats 3 at the time so he might not can get away. i'll get back to you. and thanks.
You might want to tel him tis a running type .....Phyllostachys aurea...so he may want to think about how he will keep it in the are he wants it in or it will take of and come up anyplace it wants...From what I have read (alot of reading)..they say making a trench and using HEAVY plastic is suppose to work and a guy at chamblee's told me to make a trench and put rock salt in it ...it doesn't like the salt so it won't cross it..make a cement filled trench or just keep it mowed has been said too.
my address is flint but I am closer to Chandler which is west of Tyler.
So you would want to get on 20 east towards Shreveport
go to canton and get on 64 from there to my road and cross over 31.
tha tis the most direct route to take if you are coming form your area
the rest if he is still interested I can give you in dmail
Only thing that might go on this weekend is DH has talked of renting a tiller to try and get an area for the garden worked on but here are plenty of roots we won't be touching LOL
well i have a feeling that this guy would love for me to bring him all his plants ...lol... and if you lived next door to me i would certainly oblige him and you. but if he wants this stuff he is going to have bring me to you. so we'll see. i have told my sister and will get back if it turns out we want to come and get it.
are you sure you are 7b?
LOL heck If I know I am in Texas and living on a road that to me should be a Tyler addy since it is smith county and closer to Tyler then Flint in my book but who am I to say
i just would have thought that you were even warmer than me. i might not be right either. have you ever seen that zonal map and how it goes meandering thru north texas? up then down and then up again. how can they know all that?
well I went by the maps when I joined to find where I was and some of them are so dang small it is hard to read..I do know we are to be in the 80's today and it was already 61 at 5am LOL
All this *AND* free brisket!! Lou, I think we're all incredibly lucky folks! ;-)
Carla
Here, here!
Just a side note. The brisket is for afterglow at Broncs house. Not the noon meal. We will bring purchased fried chicken for noon. Put us on your list, TJ.
Barbara, RJ is Rjuddharrison from Houston. He has the most beautiful tropical garden you could ever imagine. If you don't know how to find him, just go to his homepage and look at his journal. Wow! He posts on the two Tropical forums and Texas quite often.
I've got you added on the FOOD thread, Christi. I'm glad RJ is coming, and glad you are so hospitable, Christi. Thank you!!
Same here - cannot wait to meet him.
Aw shucks, twern't nothin'...
I'm looking forward to meetin ya'll too.
Hi Mamajack..tis I Rj
Oh gosh, oh gee, Randy, puttin' on yore bestest Texian drawl.
It really will be a great weekend. So many of my Texas friends I have yet to meet. Just the Oct. RU in Arlington. I'm still trying to put all the screen names together with the real name and face. That's ok. I'll do it. Just takes more than 1 hour once a year.
Christi
My goodness..is it hot there?..I just went outside and it's 88F!!!!
Same here. After this morning of 50 and fog.
lol. this whole time i am thinking that RJ sounded movie-starrish for some reason but couldn't remember why. i am such a dud because i was thinking of 'ol J. R. now that that mystery is solved tell me where you are from rj? are you the guy that lou posted pictures of on some thread a while back? i feel like i already know you. and yep it got kind of warm today. the plants loved it.
LOL...that is from the show Dallas.. J.R. Ewing..as in who shot!?
Yes..I think that was me that LouC posted pics of. I couldn't pass up the temptaion to meet the extroidenary gardeners while visiting friend Christi. There are so many talented gardeners there in a concentrated area!
But of course, RJ is a movie star. Just can't remember the name of the movie off hand. hhhmmmmm let me see...
maybe I can help ya out there LouC.... I knew I recognized him in your pictures.
He was one of the stock actors in a number of movies....
Gidget, Gidget goes Hawaii, Where the Boys Are, Flipper's New Adventure, South Pacific, The Endless Summer, Endless Summer II and Blue Hawaii.
That is why he loves the Tropical gardening so much he spent so much time in teh Tropical places making movies
LOL..you forgot the Blue Lagoon
OH gee how could I forget that one I'm sorry Please forgive my error...this won't effect me getting that autograph will it????
I so want to hear about how those actors really were in person.
Oh heavens no, in fact there's a part for you in the next movie I'm sure!
