I'll tell him you want it. Maybe that'll be the leverage it takes to motivate him.:)
College Station Spring Roundup-TRADES
Some where I saw a reference to an annual plant sale at A&M, "get there early, good sale, etc." Now I can't find it (&()*)(*(). Can any one tell me when, where etc. We have kids in B/CS but they know nada. Seems like it was in March? Gene
It is March 29 at 8am. Funny you should mention it, it just dawned on me today that I won't be able to go like I had planned. I will be in Canada at the time. So disappointing. If you do plan to go, perhaps you could pick up a few things for me? They will send out a list as it approaches.
Why are you going to Canada Kim?
I am attending a scientific meeting there, in british columbia. Had to get a passport and everything for it. But I was so bummed today when I realized it was the same weekend as the A&M sale and the Zilker festival in Austin.
Oh, boy Kim. Don't be bummed. That sounds like fun to me. Especially if you have time to see the sights. Where in British Columbia?
Whistler....and it will be fun. Hopefully my research will be at a good point by then too. Not sure how much time there will be for seeing sights but it would be nice. I've never been up there before.
Well, I don't know where Whistler is, but British Columbia is really really pretty. They get so much rain and their winter is much shorter and milder than I thought it would be because they are so close to the ocean. I envy you. Take lots of pictures.
About the A & M plant sale. The official opening time is 8am, but I guarantee that if you're not there by 7 am most will be gone by 8. Also take a wagon, it's hard to wag all that around by hand.
Anne
Actually, last year they had a rope up so that people could not enter until 8am, but there was a good long line. So definitely get there early!
I added some things to my list, seedlings mostly.
:) Kim
I have a question about scutellaria longifolia. Mine is in a pot and gets to be about 18 inches tall. But I just looked it up in PF and dmj says it stays at 12 ". So I am just wondering if there's another plant with the same leaves and flowers that gets to be taller. I also didn't know I could plant it in the ground here. That's very good news because I have a large spot to fill. Does it really get to be 4 ' across? I guess I never looked this plant up because I was thinking all this time that it would get a lot taller.
I don't know the answers to your questions, Mary Lee. But I do know that last year I had a BLUE scutellaria that was labeled longifolia. So there may be mislabeled plants out there.
Oh I don't doubt that, but I got this as a cutting from htop. I don't know if she is a member or not still, but if she mislabeled something it's probably a first. I'll try to get picture of mine tomorrow. It's in the gh. I'm excited now if I can put this thing in the ground and let it grow to be 4 ' wide. I have a huge bed to plant at our new shop.
Ok...last call for anyone who might want castor bean seedlings. I have a ton of them out front, and if no one wants them I am going to just pull them up. Also, I have some extra zebrina hollyhock seedlings if anyone is interested. And while pulling weeds and grass I discovered my salvia has multiplied like crazy. I don't recall the name but it is the one in the picture below. If you want some of that let me know because I need to dig some of it up.
:) Kim
Blueeyes, throw nothing out!! I will take some of all of them that you don't have homes for. I have lots of room and a big heart for throw out plants.
I hope I can find something that you need or want. I repeat..Don't just pull 'em up and toss 'em out. I will luv 'em.
Charlene
Kim, please save me a couple of the hollyhock 'Zebrina' and blue salvia. NEVER throw away a plant! lol My greenhouse runneth over and something has gotta go.
Ok! I'll pot these up tomorrow and mark them for you both. I don't like to throw anything away either, but I am running out of room!
: ) Kim
Kim, could you save one of those salvias for me? I've added a few more plants to my list, if you'd care to check.
Will do Linda! There's plenty out there!
:) Kim
Kim if you have any left save me a couple.
Trish
Mention tossing a plant and you get quite a response on here. LOL
Lol...so true charlene! I think the salvia may be argentine skies, I remember getting that one at a roundup. But alas the tag is gone.
Kim, if there are any left, could you add me for the blue salvia?
Kim - me too please....on the "Argentine Skies" salvia.....if you've enough! Thanks!
The Purple Flag Iris is beautiful Anne!
Anne I'd like some of the purple flag iris. Got everyone down for the salvia!
:) Kim
And just a reminder - it looks like I'll have plenty of S. 'Henry Duelberg' too...
I'm tossing cardamom ginger and butterfly ginger. Heehee....
butterfly ginger right here. Toss it my way. As many as you can toss.
Anne
Do you think you could toss the cardamom ginger my direction?
Ceejay! You are wicked! LOL I would like some cardamom ginger please. I really want some of the Henry Duelberg. I just looked it up and I love that stuff. I love purples and blues.
Charlene
CJ, I would love to have a start of your 'Henry Duelberg' salvia. Thanks, Patricia
Kim I would like some Zebrina if you have any left. Marylee you have gone right over the top ... pick something off my website? Woman you got guts! LOL
Maybe something left from last years Website ... CJ don't forget my shade shrubs and if you have more ginger to get rid of, I will take it too.
Wow!! I should have done this earlier. Thanks, Kim!! LOL!!
Still plenty left...(before I toss).
I am pulling up extra Philippine Lilies too - seedlings that are not in the spot I have designated. Does anyone want any of these? They will bloom this year. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1050/
My photo was taken in mid-July.
I was out weeding yesterday and today. I have plenty of them too. Take your pick!
Oh, my goodness, those are gorgeous! I would love one, please.
You need to add that pic to the PF Ceejay, they don't have many on there.
Sheila, I am just sick that you can't come! How will they ever learn how to tell us apart? Can't you postpone that trip another week???
Adding you, pbtx..
Edited to say - I will pot up several to a pot so that you can have a nice little stand of them...

Thanks CJ, but that would mean missing the Waxahachie Party on the 19th of April, and that date was set before this one got moved to the 12th. Besides I need to get to WA to see family due to illness. There will be another swap around later this year and next....but family member may not be. That trumps all my plans.
I understand, but know that we're all going to miss you. It will probably be next spring for me again; the fall date is usually not favorable for me.
Sylvia...got you down for the zebrina. ceejay....could I have some of those lilies? They are gorgeous!
Kim
