(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I NEED YOUR HELP!!

I am looking for something peach/orange colored that is an annual that gets no more thatn 8-10" high to go with my new milennium dahlia..

Thanks for any suggestions/help!!

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

fairy to do bold you use < b > at the beginning and < / b > at the end, with no spaces between them. I had to space so it would show :o) and to do italics replace the b with an i.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Check PF to see if there's a suitable color of Linaria (aka "toadflax," those dainty little blooms that remind me of teeny snapdragons)that might fill the bill.

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

pepsi -- i dropped her a Dmail on how to format text... she got it figured out.

I dont have any peach, anything... and all my orange are too tall.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

hi jsx

ive only scratched the surface and prefer not to do long lists
pam

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

well, let's try it again-sorry for the goofy posts

I think I must be out of edits or something! This is what I was trying to post:

>>I'm betting we have a lot of people recuperating from the last few days!

edit to try to add (again!!) >>>I took a whole day off yesterday and am trying to catch up.

Suzy, I'm a bird and hummingbird person

Wind, thank you for the aster, peppers, and chives.

Pam, I've just started looking through your pepper list. I'd like to find a good reliable sweet pepper to compliment my hot peppers. Do you want to play with my Penstemon x Mexicali mix? The Pike's Peak Purple and Red Rocks are both really cute and did well for me. I don't know quite what you'll get- they were planted really near each other.

Fairy1004, thanks-I'll take a look at your list

If I've missed anyone else, drop me a dmail and I'll keep working my way down the page. :)

I do have some Rose of Sharon seeds. they came from my neighbors bushes... they are the white with red and pinks i think... but the seeds are not separated, since she would just hand me spent heads.

if anyone is interested... i can browse thru images and see if i can figure out what 2 they are.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Does anybody know how long it takes to get a blooming ROS from seed? I am getting too old to grow bushes from seed, but the Caryopteris and butterfly bushes surprised me, so maybe ROS would too. Anybody know?

Suzy

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Suzy -- i did a quick google, and on that other site a person stated it should bloom the first year.

my neighbor, gave me some seedlings... they were about 6" tall... that she got from her sister... and i planted them .. 1 died and the second gave me 1 flower the second year. but i do not know how old the seedling was when i was given it.

fairy..i do like penstemons and have quite a bit of them out back but they do not produce seed...id like to try your cross
reliable would be gypsy pepper i grow those every year..they do produce in the cool seasons that we sometimes have. they are a sweet cubanelle type..there are others you can try..like revolution, fat n sassy, or socrates that i am also trying too. the others would be a later variety.
mohawk was bred for baskets or containers.

Pamsue, If you still have any ipomoea coccinea red (g) 2 I would love to try it. Thank you. KD

Suzy - I would love things for hummingbirds (wasn't on my wish list), we have quite a few here generally at the Penstemon Digitalis Husker's Red when in bloom, other than that they like the hanging basket petunias. KD

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

kd, do you have the verbena bonariensis 'purple top' ? The hummers love it!!!

http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/141/

I have some :) and anybody else that wants some, well about 5 trades anyway, good plant to plant others around it's tall and lanky but stands up reall well.

Hey you all I'm not recooperating from the last few days, just gone blind from going up and down the list lol

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

PamsueI'm confused about your post a couple up

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Hi Fairy,

I think she was talking to me about the peppers & penstemon.

But I was just going to ask if you've still got any Chinese houses and Zinnia Peppermint stick mixed?

Pam, the gypsy pepper sounds perfect! I was very disappointed with the ones I had last summer. Could I try the Mohawk one as well? I'm curious about one bred for containers. I'll send a bunch of the penstemon-you can plant 'em all and pull up any whose blooms you don't like.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

I put my list up again it's the fourth from the top I think lol

toronto, Canada

Lebug - Thanks so much, the verbena look beautiful, unfortunately I am in zone 5 and I believe they are only hardy to zone 7, but thanks for thinking of me. KD

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

>>Verbena bonariensis
this one seems hardy to zone7
though i thought there was a more "ground cover" verbena that was hardier for up here.
I"m still searching.

but does Verbena bonariensis reseed heavily??

http://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheets/hgic1175.htm
this site talks about various "verbenas"
the one i was thinking of is "Perennial Verbena" or trailing verbena
or Blue Vervain (Verbena hastata) which is for colder climates.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

You know I had a lot of them in pots last year and never noticed them reseeding anywhere but they were where I cut the grass this year come to think of it I did have a lot of seedlings in my dirt when I transplanted plants so I guess they did reseed, I had three in on flower bed and they didn't reseed but I've heard they do reseed heavy, I haven't had a problem with them yet but you can alway pull them up when they are small when they get bigger they are harder for me to pull out cause I have corpul tunnel.

This verbena is tall not a ground cover try looking for the homestead purple verbena I don't know how hardy it is but it's a ground cover, every time I plant just regular verbena it reseeds and it can really take over if you let it from my experience any way, I had some that took some butterfly plants over before I knew it this year and they are gone I doubt if they will be back think I tore it away too late.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I have some Orange Noah Morning Glory.

I know Fairy, Blue, LeBug and Dryad all wanted it, but I thought there were 2 more people.

Does anybody remember asking me for this?

Szuy

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

i know last year i WS'ed Vervain Verbena. which is a tall one, and perennial. I"m thinking it was the one they called Verbena on a Stick.

I'm just hoping "praying" that all or most of my plants i planted last year bloom like crazy... then it would have all been worth it.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I think Vervain is Verbena hastata.

Verbena on a stick is Brazilian Verbena aka Purpletop, which is Verbena bonariensis.

Suzy

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Thanks Suzy but I don't think I asked for it, I ended up with an orange one last year and think I'll wait and see if it reseeds to see what it was, I just thought it was wild, I don't grow the smaller ones :) Have no iea where it came from maybe a bird lol

tcs, when I was selling plants and watering the pots of purple top the hummers got mad at me because I took it away they fussed like crazy at me so I decided to really grow some for them they love that plant!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

On the Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus siriacus), I didn't get flowers until the second year, but I wintersowed my seeds. I grew the seedlings on in gallon pots over the first summer and planted them out in fall. These blooms (from seeds marked "lavender") were worth the wait!

(Hey, I don't just lurk... sometimes I jump in with purty pictures!)

Oh Oh Oh! How is this for confusing everyone? As I was reviewing everyone's list, I spotted someone had "eyeball plant seeds". Unbeleivable! How did I miss that? Are any left? Could I have some? That's it..I'm done! I will not ask for anything else. But, thank you, so much. I had a ball!

(jax) Dundalk, MD(Zone 7a)

oooohhhh, Critterologist, that is purdy!
