Get with the times daddy-O, that was his ride.
Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - do over?
He rode a rat? I thought he had a bottom-less car like Fred. Jeez - the 60's were not kind to my brain!
Longest 23 years of your life I heard.
Nice rat, BigCityAl!
It was 23 years? Jeez - seemed like only 10 to me.
Mike, that's so sweet that you made sure the guy didn't kill the racoons and then you left food for them!!!
I thought it was, too. Are you going back next week to leave more food?
Raccoons . . . I had a pet raccoon growing up. His name was Charlie - very cuddly, and heavy! We got a kick out of watching him get confused when given a piece of bread, which he would dunk in his water dish - only to have it dissolve!
We also had, at another time, a pet possum - Peter. Being nocturnal, he would always wake us up because he'd be rummaging around the house in the middle of the night.
Okay, maybe I won't get that pet 'possum.
My room mate in college found baby possums whose mother had been hit in the road. she decided to raise the babies herself. She had long blond hair down to her waist and was about 6 ft tall. She worked with us in the field that summer, sitting in the dirt with 3 baby possums living in her hair.
Conjures up images of Cousin It!
The place I dropped the raccoons off at is also where people take food for the feral cats, so I'm sure they're well taken care of !
Possums have gotten a bad rap...they're totally harmless and although not the most attractive creatures, they are kinda cute...in their own way.
I've never touched a possum or a raccoon, so I doubt I'd let them anywhere near my hair!
I really didn't trust the guy who came and set the traps and retrieved them...he was telling me that where he's from they club them to death when they see them, so that set off a flashing red light. This guy was sort of a big stupid oaf, anyway...and he smelled like he hadn't showered in a week or more.
It always cracks me up when my cats come FLYING in the back door at high speed ...that means there's a possum or a raccoon out there. Then they sit there and make the MOST bizarre sounds until the coast is clear for them to go back out.
Or maybe that guy is around! You're a good guy for doing that Mike. I love animals (except deer) too.
My roommates possum decided he was dominant over her border collie. He would clutch onto her hair and hiss at the dog until she (the dog) ran away whimpering.
And then there was the possum that got into my garage. I chased him with a broom, he grabbed onto the straw of the broom and started climbing up, hissing with every step.
Nobody told that possom he was supposed to play possom.
I think they're cute too.
Much too often the possums play possum in the middle of the road, which is the way I generally see them.
I touched an opossum once and they have the softest fur.
AYankeePossum - has a ring to it.
Diamond? Emerald?
ring tone
There's a song?
Wasn't there a movie called "A Connecticut Possum in Yankee Cat's Court " ???
A favorite kid camp song about watermelon and possum meat which has many verses that I learned in Okla as a kid. Here is refrain, as I remember it. It was a song sung by a famous black slave musician in the 1800's if I recall correctly.
Ham bone is sweet, chicken is good and possum meat is very, very fine. so give me, oh give me , I really wish you would,.that watermelon hanging on the vine
Paris Hilton?
It seems she has some very serious problems.
Why not both?
A 1,000 LB. RAT?!!!
How big a cat would you need for that rat?
You know rabbits used to be classified with the rats, but now they are classified as lagomorphs. I pulled on my rabbit's tail just to see how that little fuffy tail was made. If you unravel it it is just like a rat's tail. Those rabbits just curl it up so it looks like a little ball of fluff. I imagine they did this because they didn't want to be classified with the rats!
Yankee Cat: I imagine that rat lived before there were any cats. That's how they got so big. No competition. No predators.
Even before NYC had subways!
WOW. If those rats were in the subways they would have to re-route the trains. Anyone for Long Island???
Sherrie, we have Verizon comp and like it better than Comcast. Were thinking of getting Verizon t.v. but, right now, we're paying under $20 for Comcast because we only have the regular channels and digital channels, not all the basic cable channels. It doesn't look like Verizon has anything split up like that.
I only have Verizon for DSL and it's lousy.
