Yeah - great game. I'm rooting for Farvre next week though.
Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - do over?
I probably will too, I enjoyed the outcomes of both games today.
Yes, two good games. Hope it continues next week.
I'm sure we'll disagree next week!
Go Chargers and Packers!
and I used to like you!
Thanks!
We'll take the Giants here. Should be crazy around here this week.
Surprised the Colts lost.
So the Packers and Patriots in the end?
Probably will be. Colts made too many mistakes. Too many dropped passes.
Maybe. I would root for the Pats to win it all if GB loses next weekend.
Boooooo.
I just looked back at all the superbowl wins, and Green Bay won the first two. You guys probably already knew that.
Yes, then the JETS changed football forever!!
They did?
They proved the AFL was worthy. After their win the merger was inevitable.
I would 'only' root for the Pats because the Dolphins that have the undefeated record are jerks.
You guys know more than me...
I don't like the Pats but I am in awe of Brady.
I actually don't like Brady, but he does play well.
Greg Brady was cool.
I liked Marcia.
Marcia Marcia Marcia!
What about Thindy?
Classic one, Deb!
Jan was my favorite.
I don't know a thing about football. What team does Marcia play for?
What was up with Mrs. Brady and that weird flip thing she had going on? It was like the fore-runner to the mullett !
Gloria...she was the quarter back for Fillmore Jr. High...and she wasn't good!
No, Pirl - she hasn't made the call to get the internet set up. She just calls us to ask EVERYTHING. (i wish it was what you said!)
She wanted me to explain last night how DSL works.
But mostly it's like, "Why can't i name the files what I want in Word? It just names them with the 1st phrase in the document." "How come in Mah Johnng, sometimes the tiles disappear, but other times they change into something else?"
That is what i mean by talking to her more than ever!
But at her 3 day a week job, one of her duties is to open and print out all of her boss's email, because he doesn't know how!
That's funny, Amy. Great boss!
he also told her that when he leaves at night, when she isn't there, he makes sure the fax machine has plenty of paper, in case they get a bunch of faxes in the middle of the night (it has memory), and also plenty of paper in the printer. i don't know who or what he thought was using the printer overnight, but it was well stocked, just in case!
(even she thought that was silly)
Amy, You are the gift that keeps on giving!
I gave my mother a "presto" for Christmas. It allows you to receive emails & attachments without a computer. (thought the computer would be too overwhelming) Anyway, she didn't care much for it. We will send it back before the trial period ends.
aw, that's too bad. i've seen ads for those, interesting idea...
the main reason - other than shipping - that we bought her a laptop was because there aren't so many pieces to hook up - hooking up the DVD player to the TV was traumatic enough..!
At age 82 with no technological interest, I thought a computer would be too overwhelming. Now I wonder because she didn't like that she couldn't respond, only receive emails. To me, it was the ideal situation! I could talk to her and she couldn't talk back. ;^)
Dave!!! I'm telling on you.
Amy - it's all easier to people who grew up with computers. Now I'm thankful I learned to use computers from the company training (back in the 80's) and taught others as well. Email was all new to me, however, and there have been a few glitches along the way - some actually ended up being hysterically funny as I'd reply to a joke not realizing it was from someone who had received the joke and sent it on to me.
Every person who was intimidated by them says it turned out to be no big deal (the basics, anyway) and wishes he or she tried earlier.
A friend gave her computer away saying she never used it. She prefers daytime TV - the whole day long! That would get me crazier than any computer ever could.
A few years ago I was notified of the 50th annual reunion of my high school class. I went to a small country school so the kids in my high school class were mostly the kids I started out in kindergarden with. After I left for college I never connected with anybody back home.
But for the 50th reunion I received several e-mails from old classmates and one guy who was actually a neighbor back home has continued the correspondence.
He was the class clown anyway and he hasn't changed much. I look forward to his e-mails. Pictures of his family and scenes from back home. He's not a person who would ever write a letter, but the e-mail format is just right for a not-too-personal note and a fist full of pictures.
this guy was the inspiration for the article I wrote for DG on Sauerkraut and it is not the kind of article I would have written otherwise. So it was a challenge for me to reach out and describe a piece of Americana and this cookey guy who still remembers me after 50 years.
My first computer experience was at the library. I wanted a book, and they eliminated the card catalog. So, I looked at the computer in its place, and then went to the aisles, looking up and down, thought, this is ridiculus, and went back and used the computer to find my book.
The next experience was when I was working as a visiting nurse, we went to computer documentation. I only learned the clinical software we were using. I spent one day crying, because my computer wouldn't upload my work to the server. Had I asked for help earlier, I wouldn't have spent most of the day upset.
Now, at my current job, I teach staff (nurses, therapists, social workers) how to use our clinical software and also problem solve some of the issues that come up.
So if I can do it, anyone can!
