Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - do over?

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Finally SOMEONE has it right ! Yes, Sharran...you've got it !

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Oh, I am so happy JD, I will sleep so much better tonight.

But we forgot about skimming the scum with the forked tongue, now i can't remember but I think it was Victor's forked tongue doing the scumming, er uh skimming.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Right again !

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Victor: "stuffing your turkey?"
really...

JD - how will you know if the raccoon babies look like Victor? Have you ever seen Victor? i thought he was a fragment of our collective imaginations...

(Zone 4a)

hmmmm amethystsm has a point.....

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

It's probably all a plot on JD's part and they'll all look like him: 6'4" raccoons who love garbanzo beans but not stuffed turkey.

Greensboro, AL

Hmmmm. I wonder if there is a DNA test for garbanzo bean favoring.

This whole question could be resolved scientifically.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sharon is paying too much attention!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Sharon isn't scatterbrained - that's the problem.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

You can all believe or not believe what you wish, regarding the existence of Victor. The birth of these coons will either clarify or dispel the myth. Stranger things have happened. Time will tell.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

BTW...over in the Texas forum, they're trying to break the posting record...but they're not doing too well...(just noticed that and thought I'd mention it...)

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

And you were over there helping them - that is how you know this? Hmmmm?

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

No ! I was spying. There was a rumor of a Victor sighting over there.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Victor!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Not our Victor! Never!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not me. Maybe they can start a snow photo thread?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I'm sure they're above copying our threads...right?

Greensboro, AL

I think Victor is a real person. He sent me a D-Mail.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

It could be the cyber clowns in action, Gloria, maybe one of them is named Victor....and he is sending you d mails.

but it seems to me that I have seen a photo of the real JD, and if my memory is right, JD has the strangest very dark mask like band around his eyes..

that might give you the proper DNA from which to begin your scientific testing......

Greensboro, AL

Oh. I see! Its the old blame it on Victor trick! I think I saw it in an old Hitchcock movie.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I think I fixed my washing machine! Fingers are crossed and full of black grease. I'm running a test cycle now but the mini test earlier drained - so I'm very hopeful that it was the pump.

Greensboro, AL

Yankee Cat: You put in a new pump?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Yup. It is right at the front of the machine when you take off the front panel. Didn't even say a single bad word. This time. In about an hour we will know if the pump was the problem.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - good for you, Cat! (Hope you're not typing, nor petting the cats, with greasy hands!) Hope it works fine.

Cyberphantom

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Thanks, me too. Now I have to tackle the closet.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Good for you, AYC. Do you now have to put a new pump in your closet?
Hmmmmm. You folks in the NE sure do strange things.

Victorphantom, your secret other life is safe with us.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

The wash cycle drained! Woo-hoo. If the rinse drains - then I did it! The closet is getting ready to be painted and one end of it covered with cedar boards and then a wire shelf and a new rod. When that is done then it is onto tearing off all the molding, patching, painting, putting on new molding (putting back the original style for this 40's cape cod house) including adding crown molding, changing the doors from mahogany plywood hollow doors to 4 panel doors, adding a light to the overhead fan, pulling up the carpet and hoping the red oak floors are good enough without refinishing and putting eveything back together. I might have to hire a professional to skim coat the walls - do you know how hard and expensive it is to get someone to do that kind of thing? Plumbers and electricians here get twice what I make an hour - IF you can get one to show up even.

Greensboro, AL

Yankee Cat: Someone like you could make a good business out of house repair done right. There is no one who will do it/or who can do it.
In fact, if I paid you what I paid a scammer to ruin my 100 year old house, you would have enough money to start a business.

Skim coating plaster is just a matter of technique. I plan to do my own. The hard part is finding fresh plaster.

congratulation on the washer pump. Maybe Ill make time to figure out my dryer belt. You are an inspiration.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I just google for instructions when something breaks. Then I go to www.repairclinic.com.
to buy the parts. I tried to fix my electric stove when it broke - and couldn't but I was able to return the part I bought to them and get my money back. The stove was dead - I got another one at Habitat for Humanity for $100 and that one works fine.
I'm really pretty incompetent in the repair department - I just have lots of patience to keep doing it over and over and over and my 91 year old neighbor helps me out.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

All the good people are expensive - carpenters, plumbers, electricians. I am just so grateful we have good ones.

You are an inspiraction Cat.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Good thing y'all haven't seen my place! LOL

Edited to say that the rinse cycle drained so the washing machine is officially fixed! I have to call my Dad!

Congratulations Cat!!! WooHoo!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Now I know whom to call. Are you good with laptop computers?!!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

No. I just got lucky with the washer.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

is your laptop still on the DL?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Go Yank Go!! Great job....my vacume is not working well so when can you fix it?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Amy, I gave up on it and I am looking for a new one now. Hate the basement!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

we gave my mom a laptop for xmas - they have definitely moved down in price. her 1st ever computer. we put word 2007 on it (which i have), but could only get one with vista (which i don't). i think her office computer is still on windows ME, and heaven knows what word processor.
oy.
well, at least now i talk to her more often.
lots more often.
maybe it would've been easier just to fly there.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I love communicating with my kids by email. It's never inconvenient for them (or me) to take a call and if we forgot anything it's not a bother to email again...and again.

It's been so nice these last few days on our threads. Almost like a breath of fresh air and fun again - like old times.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

how bout them Giants!
