Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - do over?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Glad you got it figured out Pirl, now I can go back to popping and locking.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

You pop and lock in this cold weather, Al?

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

I haven't been to the NE forum in a few days. My day was humming along quiet nicely till I got to this one. I laughed till my cat fell off my lap.

cabin fever anyone??

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hi Sharon. Freezing here. How about there?

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

So cold I have moved my desk so that the vent is on my legs, and one cat is on my lap. The other cat is sharing the seat with me.

Warm feet, warm knees, and warm behind, what more could I ask for?

Think it might be about 20.
How about you?

Greensboro, AL

Stopped snowing in Alabama. Now everything is dripping. Puddles over slippery ice everywhere.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Chilly. Have the cat on my lap as I'm watching the football game! The tv is not in the warm LR, where the pellet stove is. How much snow, Gloria?

Greensboro, AL

Maybe 2 inches. The roof tops are still white, but the south sides are bare where the sun melted the snow.

Now its just cold. As I remember the projected low tonight is 26.

I can hear everybody laughing . . . all the way from New Hampshire!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Victor, the cat chooses to sit on your lap in the cold room rather than go to the LR with the pellet stove? How sweet. We had more snow last night. It's been white here for weeks now.

Gloria, I think 26 deg. is cold. I'm not laughing!

Harper

Greensboro, AL

At 26 degrees the 1930s heating system in my house starts to be inadequate.

My house was built about 1900 and there are coal burning fireplaces in everyroom. Every fireplace when I bought the place was outfitted with a gas space heater. The town has natural gas. Most of the heaters date to the 1950s or earlier.

On a cold day you can close off a room and the space heater will take the chill off. But, as for dealing with really cold weather a space heater does not heat a 12 ft high room that is 25 x 25 ft.

Of course it doesn't get very cold very often in Alabama.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, Harper, Crash follows me everywhere. I call him my secret service cat.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I think that following instinct may be why Harper's dog is called Shadow.

Come to think of it, we have a friend and her husband follows her very closely. It's a wonder they haven't suffered a rear end fatality.

Greensboro, AL

That kind of husband can be a pain in the butt.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

But of course!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I think you Southerners have had it much colder than those of us in southern New England this week. We reached 40 once or twice. Just starting to get the arctic blast today.

Greensboro, AL

The camellias which were in full bloom before his a shriveled up and turning purple. Better now than later though when it would damage the peach crop. A summer without peaches is a sad summer indeed.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I froze my peaches today!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Well, I froze my buns! So there!

Greensboro, AL

I drove down one of the residential streets near here. Some kids had made a huge snow-dinosaur.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I promise not to utter a word that it was about 72* here today. I finished pruning all my roses, and was wearing shorts and a t shirt.

We're supposed to get rain Tues. Wed. and Thurs.

I think I'll defrost a watermelon.

Greensboro, AL

SSSSSSSS! J.D.

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

JD - remember karma........it can be good or it can be bad......☺

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL !

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

My heart bleeds, Mike!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Somewhere I heard that all the rain for this week is going to hit in one spot all at once....seems to me that it said the spot was somewhere very near Long Beach.....tons of water, all at one time, a virtual deluge.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I've built the Ark, and it's ready to sail. !

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Arks sail???

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Here at 28° & falling...and I am falling, too.
If it rains, I'll be spinning.
If it jumps 2 states south, JD will be floating/sailing/wet.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

It will uproot all his roses, daylilies and clematis and have them floating down to Mexico.

Greensboro, AL

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I think we should get free calenders from Dave!

Here is a good one.

My mother died in Oct. 2004. I was the headed up the will and stuff with the lawyers. It closed in early 2005.

Saturday I got a letter from my bank. I said cool - it will have the 1099 form for the intrest so I can get the taxes done on my account.

I openend it and it was a 1099 intrest form for 29.56 It is in my mothers name, her account and social securtiy number. Just above her name it says

***DO NOT MAIL***

Banks are closed today so I am wondering am I going to be rich?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

At least free colanders

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I agree. Maybe even refrigerator magnets, too.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'd like a calender of colanders.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Speaking of calenders and magnets, I was laughing because our city said they were discontinuing our yearly recycling calender magnet, but it showed up and is now 1/4 calender and 3/4 ads.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Someone has to pay for it!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

We were paying for it with taxes before - those didn't go down.
