Water Cooler - 4

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Sleep?...he was channel surfing at 2am this morning because he couldn't sleep and the throbbing was going on. Justin heard the TV and not knowing any better thought it was time to get up!
Have you ever seen the comercial where the guy is snoring and his wife hits him with a cast-iron fry pan? That flashed in my memory last night and DH said I got an evil look in my eye!!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I hope he feels better soon.

I went to a funeral in Sharon, MA today. (Friend's Mom) Who from this forum was I near?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ha ha - let's hope tonight goes better.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Jags are hanging tough so far!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Celeste - hate to say this, but get ready for more snow!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I heard, and I just saw the grass in patches for the first time today!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Of course!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Dave, you were probably near me, you should have called! xx, Carrie

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Yes. It is SNOWING!
No. We never got to see any grassy areas during the recent thaw.
Yes. I am happy that it's snowing, as this means that the garden will be well-insulated when the January Freeze comes.

But! I really don't like it when it snows more than a foot at a time!! The weather advisory is in effect until after 1 PM for the heaviest snowfall.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

We have the powdered sugar effect on the lawn but we ended up with rain most of the night.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We got nothing but a dusting.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

We're so close to you Victor. We got pounded. It's still coming down.

Wow! Well they did say it had moved more east than originally thought. How many inches so far, Harper? Schools closed?

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Sam's school opened with a 2 hour delay. Even though we got a lot of snow, it's wet and not sticking to the roads. Yay! The snow plows didn't block off my driveway! Let's see... how many inches. I'm not going out there in my slippers. It looks to me to be around 5 inches... just a guess. Here's Michael. He's so good. He puts up with so much. I really should wipe the snow off his face.

Wow. Poor Mike, and your dog!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I guess Mike is the gnome but where's the dog? I don't see Shadow anywhere. Is this a Victor joke or is he teasing us?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

From another thread! He had snow on his paws.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yup. Michael is the gnome. Shadow isn't anywhere in those pics. Next to Michael is a Limber Pine and a wooden dragon. Here's Shadow. He loves the snow.

Whew! Thanks for saving my sanity.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I made a big batch of whoopie pies last night and everyone of them are gone!!
Now i'm baking a herb roasted chicken, lets see if they eat that as fast!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

What are whoopie pies? I'm making a lobster chowder with a side of veggies and garlic bread for dinner tonight. Of course, the chowder is a pre-made bisque that I add lobster to, so it's not homemade.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Turkey kielbasa rice, black beans and veggies here. Yes - what are whoopie pies? (Can't talk now, I'm making whoopie...pies.)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Looks yummy.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Aw Victor, you and your making whoopie...pies!
Everything sounds good except the kielbasa. Love black beans and rice.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Now I remember them from PA, we've gone down to Lancaster just to eat before!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I made 30 yesterday. Nada today, need to make 60 tomorrow.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

wow

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

one of my DH's students is from Maine, her mom sends down boxes for opening night parties.
She makes little ones - i liked them better than the BIG ones we bought at a diner in Maine.
i bet yours are fabulous...

But i am a southern girl at ♥... give me Moon Pies any day!
When i lived in NYC, you couldn't get tham anywhere, so one year for my birhtday, i ordered a CASE of them and gave them out to everyone working in the theatre... Some of them had never had them before, but one guy was from NC and he was SO happy.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Ahhhhhh, yes..........moon pies......any self respecting southerner can recall many a moon pie experience.........hadn't thought of them in awhile UNTIL we stopped at a gas station in Virginia at 6:30 a.m. and there they were at the register.....good thing it was so early in the morning. Amy - a whole Box!!! LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

What are they made of?

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

If there isn't, there needs to be.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

If you hum a few bars, I can probably pick it up! xx, Carrie

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

You may have to compose it Carrie!! Eleanor

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Can't seriously consider eating a cookie thing that big any more, but they were quite popular in the 50s and 60s down here.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Eleanor, I couldn't write a song about anything with marshmallow in it, unless you didn't care what kind of a song it was. (Doesn't like marshmallows.) Now I could write a song about Boston Cream Pie, if you like.... (likes genuine Boston cream pie.) xx, Carrie

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Carrie - maybe a song about chocolate!! Eleanor

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

You could eat a moon pie - they only look big - they actually are full of air!
