Stop and visit, talk all you want. pt 8

Military funerals are usually very moving. They know how to do things right.
We had a military funeral when my son died. It was very nice except that the young man who played "Taps" couldn't blow the trumpet and he messed up but that was no big deal. My son's cousin and two of his best friends were also in the military at the time and they were allowed to fly home and be pallbearers at his funeral. The Air Force supplied the other three pallbearers because they all had to be in uniform so my son's non-military friends couldn't be used as pallbearers. My ex-husband's twin brother was a Col. in the Air Force at the time and he accompanied the body home from Panama and there was a man who attended our church who was also in the Air Force. He had a beautiful voice and he sang "How Great Thou Art". As funerals go it was beautiful and very moving. Brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it and it has been almost 27 years.

I'll certainly be thinking about you and your family tomorrow, Celia.

Hi all, hope everyone survived the rough weather last night! We had some pretty rough storms, but everything is still in tact!
My son did break his hand. It is what’s called an oblique fracture of the 3rd metacarpal with proximal displacement. He is in what is called a soft cast for now, and will see the Surgeon sometime next week to see if surgery is required.

Oh Tammy I wa sso praying for it not to be a break. :o(
Marsue thank you for sharing about your son. My late fiancee was military and his funeral service was the most wonderful service ever even if my heart was broken at the time.

Hi all, sorry for the generic letter, but I had so many places to post, and this puter is 110 times worse than being on dial-up! Doc is shocked he isn't having much pain for the way it is broken, but I told him he was a tough 16 year old! Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers!

Terry, that is way cool that someone you know is right here in our home town! I bet he is going to UMR, which is where Shaun works! :)

Celia, I am still sending you lots of hugs, too Girlfriend!

uh oh Tammy! It gets weirder.....the nephews wife works there too! Something about food service I think she said. Sorry to hear that your son did indeed break his hand.

These weren't military funerals, but a very dear friend of mine and his son were killed by a drunk driver back in '88. My friends father was a Sargent (not sure how you spell it?) with the Illinois State Police. And recently, another friends husband was killed in a motorcycle accident. Not wearing a helmet. Anyway, he belonged to a group I believe is called Freedom Riders. First one had so many ISP around, I have no clue who was responding to any calls. Second one, the leather and the Harley's made for a fun morning! They lined the streets holding American Flags. And when it was time to go to the cemetery, the Harley's lead the way.

Something I forgot....how long do we have to look at the the red attention up top?

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

of seemingly every single solitary page?

They just put that up there sometime today. Not very many people have voted on whether or not they will attend a Dave's Garden conference which will be open to everybody--not just those in a particular geographical area. Seems people are having trouble committing to attending because they don't know where exactly or when exactly. Imagine that. Anyway they want everyone to vote either yes, I would attend or No I wouldn't attend. Later they will decide on the particulars. Right now they are only wanting an approximate nuimber of how many would be interested.

Sorry your son's hand is broken, Tammy.
and Marie I am sorry tohear about your fiancee's death.

I just heard on the news that we had a tornado here in Arkansas last night that killed one person. I haven't had the news on until just now so I didn't know anything about it. It was in an area about 75-80 miles NW of here.

Terry, you have Dmail. :)

I have kept fairly quiet on my opinions about the party, but I do have my own personal opinion on it.

Thanks again, Mau! :)
Sorry to hear you all had a loss down there as well! :(

But it's annoying!! Like an ad I can't turn off. It's always on there, no matter what page I'm on. Good grief, if I've seen it once and not done anything or maybe I have done something, then why do I need to keep seeing it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...??? I have my own opinion as well. But you know what they say about opinions being like uh huh, we all have one

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Oh yes, don't we all have them! Speaking of, you have Dmail. :)

Time for new one, I think.
