Best/Worse and What did I learn today-part 25

Victoria Harbour, ON

Liz, did you bring in all your lovely decorations? You'd better not venture out...am home, bathed, pj's and resting..thought what a waste of time so I'm downstairs looking for a project perhaps I can do while sitting..must give my head a shake...

When I got home another SIL (my side of the family) called to tell me the James Wilkie a friend of mine whom I lost touch with several years ago when he moved and I moved who is a world renoun psychic who has done Royalty, astronaughts, movie stars died before Christmas..she's going to e-mail me she said tonight his write up..what a man..very excentric..said I once was a famous jezebel, men waited on me hand and foot, I was terrible..said my punishment in this life was waiting on men...could be right..he donated time at local hospital and they switched tray system and gave him about 100 so he came to class with all the girls and went home proud of his accomplishments..who knows the photo of me might be worth $$$ some day..he kept the one of me laying on the couch in Egyptian times for himself..will have to keep my eyes open at art auctions...lol

I'll have to tell you some of the stories and different things that happened years ago at dinner parties I had...anyway, it's sad as well...always reminded me of Liberaci (?)

He worked with Mother Theresa for several years came back very confused..bought a home in a nearby town and because of his background, his unusual appearance they made fun of him so he never quite fit it...remember visiting and he took me on a tour upstairs..all along the walls was art depicting his impression of all the different people he had met..I loved mine..showed I had a kind heart...

He never drove a car, all his money was spent on antiques..he had the crown that Yul Brenner wore in 'the Kind and I', he also had a portrait of Jesus done by priests in the early century..beard was woven by human hair..his table was always set with Royal Dalton fine china..loved him..I would venture to say he probably was in his mid 80's..he would sit and tell you story after story of some of his readings...

I remember once after Roger died I had build a large craft room over the lake because it was something Roger always said he would do for me, did it because it felt he had left something undone, anyway it was several years after his death and I dated a few times...anyway Jimmy (James) was over for lunch and we were sitting having tea..he told me that Roger's spirit visited often, he felt comfort in what I had accomplished...well I said "Jimmy, sure hope he wasn't here Saturday when my date spent the night" he chocked and started to laugh..we had so many amusing times...I'll have to go through photo boxes and find the photo's and cards he sent me...I valued his friendship..another loss..I've so many memories...

Almost afraid to answer the telephone...that's 2 bad news events today..don't they come in 3's...maybe I can cound FIL's 1st anniversary of his death tomorrow....

I believe this is what he wrote me and I shall cherish this particular note:

Dear Friend Betty Bless You..Let me simply try to thank you for your kindness always. It is quite rare to find anyone so unique and genuine. I cannot tell you how happy I am for you that God has blessed you after many years of struggle and test and trial.

Humility is one of your greatest gifts and one which you possess in abundance. However try to realize that in ??? sight you are meant to rise from prohabition and servant to eventual disciplin and at first you will prepare yourelf for a new and exciting cycle of life that will loving all the things that money can never buy. got the blocks for 4 dollars not to bad then went to the thrift store found a book on halloween decorations and a few patterns inside found out my suede boots are not water proof lol
then to come home to find the wind blew out one of my gazing globe across the frount yard oh but wait it gets better one section of the fence in the back blew over so there we were nailing it back up, kitchen window has a puddle of water took care of that
. now im going to make some tea and knit a scarf i dont think i can get into any trouble doing that!

Liz your blocks have lovely patterns. I love the older blocks. Now you have inspired me to drive down to our Habitat for Humanity ReStore, they have fantastic stuff! Sorry to hear about all the flooding, it's really windy here. Glad to hear that you got your decorations in the garage.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Liz,

I own one of those glass blocks. Got it in a Christmas exchange 3 years ago. I love it! So serene!
I have a couple of questions.

I can see the hole drilled--and covered by the wide ribbon. Do you just stuff the lights in there through the hole?
What kind of a drill do you use to drill the hole? Did someone once say it had to be a diamond drill?
Where can you get glass blocks? What kind of a recycling place are you talking about? We sell them at my HD, but they are special order.

Never heard of a Habitat for Humanity Re-Store! Is there somewhere I can look up their locations? Might be one near me--Baltimore.

I am forever inspired by all you and Betty and everyone does here. I have enough craft projects to finish--but I know I never will in my lifetime. I am already almost 71! AND--I just went and bought all kinds of after X-mas bargains again--mostly for crafts. In my mind, I can see sitting several days a week and working on all these so I can put a dent in all of them--but I know I won't. It saddens me that I am that way....:o( I hate it!

As I have said before, all my crafts are small things--piddly, cute things. Since I used to work in a craft store, for almost 5 years, I bought up all kinds of things. Now I have a Michaels, and A.C. Moore and Joannes--all within 10 minutes of my house. All thise sales and temptations.....
I have made something of everything, but I sure have piles and piles of stuff left--just waiting to finish .....Ha! Yeah, right!

Gita

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Gita- I think alot of us have the same problem, I know that I do! The website for our ReStore is http://www.spshabitat.org/restore/index.html It is one of my favorite places, along with the Goodwill, JoAnn Fabric and any/all garage/estate/barn sales!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Well, hello. I lost you for awhile. Not sure what happened. Now you all are so far ahead of me, I might not even try to catch up.

Betty, so nice to have you back. Yes, Ethan is growing, but he is just as sweet as ever. I had him for a week, my son was in and out but for the most part it was just Ethan and me. We had a wonderful time.

It has taken me 2 days to get the decorations down, one entire day on that 10 foot tree. It's down now, but not put away. I had to buy new storage boxes to hold those large ornaments.

Liz, you are still up to your old tricks, I see. You will be the best decorated house in all of California.

GG, hope you are feeling better and that tomorrow is not too stressful for you.

Gita, sweetie, hope you are well and warm.

Laura, very nice to hear from you. I hope you have a good weekend.

Rachie, Carol, Gilli, Ruby, Dawn....I know I am missing someone (s) I hope this has been a good first week of the new year. May the weather be only what you can tolerate and may you stay warm and safe from all harm.

Nothing exciting in my life, I am slowly getting the house back to normal. I have some paintings that need to be done this month, so that will consume much time.

Our weather has been very cold the past 2 days, but should be warm over the weekend.

There is so much illness and so much emotional pain in so many lives right now. Seems we go on for a long while, then whap!!! bad stuff just comes in abundance. You have had your share, and so have I. It is nice to come here and vent and moan and groan if we need to.

I am doing fine now, but I will tell you that I wasn't sure I would make it through the last 3 months of "firsts". October would have been Bob's birthday...well, I made it through that. November was mine, I survived, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then New Year....so I feel that I have met up with some mountains and made it over them, and lived to talk about it. I didn't dwell on what might have been, instead I found myself remembering the good times, thinking over funny events in our life.

We had a good time, a really good life, and I am truly thankful for that. I am also thankful that I had the strength to be with him through his final hours. I am very thankful that I can be strong for the children, and I am also fortunate to have the ability to be comfortable being myself.

Because in the end, YOU are all you have really. Only you can decide if you will give in or go on when trauma hits. I think we are all a strong bunch of women on this thread. In spite of adversity, we are very much in control, though we don't always feel that way.

It is interesting to me to know that we all have so many similarities, we like each other, we don't conflict, we just give each other so much support and encouragement.

And aren't we the fortunate ones.

Happy first weekend of 2008! Warm hugs to all of you.
shar

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Shar- Glad to have you back! Missed hearing about your sweet Ethan. Hugs, Rachel

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good morning, Shar, couldn't have said it any better...after all my 1sts. it really hit home, this isn't over when the 1sts are over, it's over for all time and I seemed to gain strength from that although it brough a heaviness to my heart..but onwards we go..part of the cycle of life..

Gita, you can get the 1/2 inch drill bit which almost looks like a spear at almost any store Lowes/Home Depot etc. - it usually costs about $15.00 at least here it does..you tell them its to drill tiles in glass or tile and they'll know the one.. although the instructions say to lubricate it is not necessary it just has to be done very slowly...having someone who has a drill press helps tremendously...most men (some women lol) have one so sure you'd have a friend who can help...

You can also purchase the glass blocks at Home Depot..I had purchased almost a dozen I think before Christmas at the re-use it center and was telling Liz to try the store closest to her..usually they are about $7.00 each, I paid $2.00 each but think Liz got better deal than that...and hers are gorgeous..

At Joanne's on Boxing Day they had beautiful spools of ribbon 70% off so that makes the project more affordable..you do need about 30-40 feet to make it properly and see through ribbon's the best...as for the cords, I use 35 bulbs but 50 are o.k. ... I also purchase those little circular pads so they lift the light box from sitting directly on the table or cabinet..great project and everyone who received them absolutely loves them...now to find another easy do it project for this Christmas...aren't we terrible, can't get through Christmas without planning the next...

Hi Rachel, what are you up to today?

Dawn and Liz, I'll be looking for your posts today as I've had my coffee watching the news and OMG the storm looks terrifying...lots of power down so please let us know you are o.k.

Jeannine, are you feeling better or still down with the cold? Knowing you, you are hard at it with a new lap quilt..must finish off the watercolor lap quilt..can machine quilt it and it would be finished..perhaps this week..I'll challenge myself to do so...let's see photo's of your next project please...how's Murphy doing?? pleased with Christmas gifts..lol

Well, I'd better get my hair done, Mike and Darlene will be here early to do some projects..don't know how I rated such good friends..I'm excited about new light fixtures..a few plugs for him to fix and then if time permits he'll put the fireplace insert in my downstairs fireplace..I have it on now warming up the basement and it's so pleasing to look at, would look better though installed..lol

Carol, read the thread on Jimmy, thanks for the link..I'll take time and send a write up as well...oh the stories I could tell..things that came true..here I'll tell you one little story before I go..

I had 4 couples over for dinner and Jimmy loved dinner parties, dressed to the hilt.. my SIL Linda and her husband Dave were coming and she called to say her MIL had dropped in so they wouldn't be abe to come..so I told her there was plenty of food and room, bring her along...so we're all seated, gabbing away, enjoying chitter chatter when Jimmy said to the MIL, 'now why did you give up playing the piano, you were so good at it, could have been a concert pianist?" and her son quickly spoke up and said "my mom doesn't play the piano", Jimmy said 'but yes she does, and very well indeed', so Dave looks at his mom and his mom says, "well it was during the war, in order to survive I sold my piano which had been passed on for several generations and it broke my heart and I decided to never play again!"..you could have knocked Dave off the chair..it was something he never knew about his mother as he was just a babe...

Now why do we leave things, I kept talking with Suzanne and a few girls to say that one weekend I'd make an attempt to find Jimmy at his new home and bring him up for the weekend, but did not, now it's too late...he truly believed in his Rama (his Spirit Guide) so perhaps one day he'll pop by and let me know he's now on a higher plane) you know, everyone believes in God, just a little different twist and turn to him..he was very spiritual..I saw so many things and stories that you had to believe he had the gift....

Well off for now..will check in a little later

Have some glass, my worksheet and photo..this will be part of my weekend project..let's see how much I get done...

its so quiet out there waiting for storm #3 to hit
i think we have a wonderful diversified group here by far the best i have ever met
.
gita, i have a closet full of those kinda projects :) oh now the blocks the two skinnier ones with the dimond pattern dh took those to drill last night and they both cracked oh well he'll try the other ones maby today, now betty was telling me about this place in canada that has recycled material real cheap so i emailed a name that was in charge of recycle in my city, told them if there is such a place and could they point me in the right direction well in two days they gave me the address to this place we went to yesterday, oh they had so much wonderful used material beauitiful carved wood hot houses in glass a little expensive plumming, fancy tile, wood, doors.
we got at home depot a arrow head bit 1/2 inch for tile and glass but dh thinks he might want to go get a dimond bit we'l lhave to ask betty what she is using.

betty, what are you working on today did you find a project last night lol im going to behave today! havent heard from judy i guess they are on their way home hope they have good traveling weather well i think i figured out my kitchen window leak we think it may be in the wall so once again must be that roof but trying to get granny to do anything is like pulling teeth! so i guess we'll wait.

rachel have a good day

Pacifica, CA

crossed posts betty.
were ok few minor things leaky window, five foot section of fence blew over gaising globe broken a few plants well when its daylight i'll take a pic there not to happy a little water in the garage but it was minor oh but go down the street up turned trees just down the street fell on a van soo much debree in the streets all the street drains were flooded water all over sirens all day it was bad now its calm they say another one is comming in the ground in back is real soaked so i hope its not as bad as they say.

betty he sounds so charming i just love people like that full of knowledge and stories
that stained glass peice is beautiful, well you enjoy your company and have a fun day

dawn, how are you holding up any damage your way did you get as much rain as us we havent had that kind of rain in a couple of years just awful

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hi Liz, so glad you are ok..from the sounds of it, more is to come so keep safe - no travelling the roads looking for bargoons...lol...

Darlene called about 10 minutes ago, they are packing up the tools Mike thinks he'll need and then they are on their way..only about 15minutes away so should be here any time..sure hope Dawn posts..I have to go back to my friends map and see where in location is she near you?

Sorry your glass broke..one of the tricks I think is making sure that when you drill they are at room temperature..not bringing it indoors or outdoors to drill..the slightest difference can break it as can drilling too fast..it usually takes about 10 minutes to drill when you are going the correct spead...

Aren't those stores fantastic..we've one in Barrie and one in Midland..they are the type of stores you have to drop in from time to time to see what's new..anyway, I enjoy snooping so it's just the type of store I enjoy...and perhaps we can find pieces that can be turned into works of art...

Yes, I'm sorting through glass to see if I've the right colors needed, taking inventory on solder/flux and glass cleaner and later when Mike and Darlene leave if it's early enough I'll travel to the stained glass shop and get supplies...nice time of year to be working on stained glass...I keep looking at the 3 beautiful lamp bases I found at a church bazaar and how beautiful they will look done up so maybe I'll really get ambitious this month...usually if I pick a simplified pattern (which I want to do to use up odd/ends) I can do it in a weekend...

got company

Shar..beauitfully written thoughts on handling the loss of your husband. You are quite an inspiration.
Having Ethan to share happy times is a wonderful comfort too I am sure.

Betty..I will check back to Jimmy's site and see if you have left a note in the guestbook. I read a lot fo the site last evening before I went to visit my friend for a couple of games of Scrabble.

Liz..hope you don't have any more storm damage..the stories you told of the trucks in the water sounded quite awful.

A pair of cardinals is flitting around out in the back..I just tried for a photo but they are too far away.
They are so beauitful against the white snow.

Ok..tomorrow I'll have a couple of photos to show you all, from the party tonight. I'm looking forward to it.

Have fun today what ever you do.

Cheers,
Carol

Here is the photo I took..too far way..but you can see the female cardinal at the pie plate feeder with safflower seeds and black sunflower seeds in it.
The male cardinal is in the tree watching..tiny red blob there, is all you can see.

Betty,

I opened the James Wilke page and found it fascinating reading. Wanted to send it to some friends who would also like to read up on him. I was telling them about all this at work today.
I went back to forward it from the URL I copied from the opened DG page, but when I click on the c/p web address of it, it says it cannot be opened--yet I can open it from the Hyperlink in your DG Post! WHY?

This is the message I get when i try to open it.

HOW can I get a URL that comes up on his Site to work when I c/p it and forward it on to someone else?????..........:o(

Just bc you might ask, Earthlink is my server and I run Mozilla Firefox. I know that Firefox does not let me open a lot of things, but.......
Should I go to Google and put in his name? Will that take me tot he same site you posted?

or just tell your friend to Google James Wilke psychic..

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

I tried the Google, which had a link: FIND THIS PERSON. So, I put in "James Wilke", but all that site had was going on and on about Sarah Jessica Parker's 4 year old son. I guess it must be a popular name--or maybe she names her son after the psychic. After all- you said he worked with a lot of celebrities!

However--it led me to the link: "Advanced Search". Just for the heck of it, I put in an old boyfriend's name (before I was married) and from all the 19 people that came up, his full name was the first on the list and the only one with the right middle initial. The age also matched!!! It just blew me away!
He seems to live in LA. Two city's manes were given. The first was Bossier City. The second (previous) one was Shrewsport and the third address was correct where his family used to live--right here in my area. That is why I am sure it has to be HIM!

We were such good pals! We both were serious Volleyball players. After 2 years of "paling around" we started to get more "serious" (?). We used to take buses and transfer for "dates" at the stadium skating rink. No one had cars back then....

He joined the Air Force and was deployed to Turkey. This is about 1960. We wrote letters back and forth and he was SO looking forward to coming home and seeing me for Christmas, 1961. THEN--I met my husband to be in November of that year, and had to write him a "Dear John" letter. I am sure he was very hurt.
When he DID come home, I saw him once at the team's Christmas party. It was awkward! We avoided each other. Never saw him again after that.

NOW--I think I find that he is still alive. Wasn't even sure of that! Whhheeeewwwww!!!!! I have always carried his Air Force # in my wallet--just in case I came across someone who had the means to track people down. First loves are hard to forget. Now I am 70 and he is 68. Wonder what he looks like?????
For more "personal" searches and information on the "found" person, this site charges mega bucks! From $10-$60!

NOW what do I do?????????? I have ALWAYS and forever wondered where he was, if he was still alive and what happened to him. Talk was that he married someone in the Orient and adopted a couple of kids. Don't even know if that was true?

Geez! What if he is "available"????? I sure am! I don't think it would be hard to find out his address and send him a neutral card???? People on DG are most helpful......if i asked the right person.....AND--all cities have phone books......Hmmmmmm......

Betty!!! See what you have gotten me into!!!!!!! This new development is ALL your fault!!!!
Or...maybe Rama had a hand in my stumbling on to this site?????

Blushing.......Gita

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

starzz,

Neithe of those URL's worked, and I did Google his name. Read the previous Post to see what happened.

I CAN open the link from DG, but NOT from the, then copied URL of the page that opens up.
Am I explaining this clearly??????

Gita

Victoria Harbour, ON

Gita, just got in from town..Darlene and Mike left after getting everything done except the insert (because we decided to do an entirely major reno job in my woodworking area so we're leaving it for spring)..love my new light fixtures..went shopping for a new front door..so many glass inserts to choose from think I'll review them before I buy..then a nice perm, great cut, eyesbrows done, even the hair over my lip lol/lol and I was all dressed up - WITH NOWHERE TO GO! So, had my Kentucky Fried chicken, now I'll take a leisurely bath..knit for awhile and early night..now that was worth making myself beautiful...so GITA...you just git and find the telephone number..one hears of so many reunions such as this, he may be pinning after you, perhaps a widower looking for a friend..oh come on girl, off you go, do some more researching..wouldn't it be wonderful for you to re-unite..and if he is married, you can just say you came across his name and thought it would be nice to check in...now that's something I know I would do...I'm getting excited for you just thinking about it...put away your cares, worse thing that can happen is you get to talk to an old friend!!! OMG I just can't wait for further updates...now what could we do to help you out...

In answer to your questions Gita, I know very little about computers so I cannot help you..perhaps someone else on this thread may be able to..

Carol, I e-mailed and said I'd like to do a write up to post re my friendship with Jimmy...

Another story that comes to mind...

One day Jimmy came over for lunch and my craft room was built over the water..now you must remember Roger was dead, Jimmy from another local town but wouldn't have any knowledge of my past...anyway we're sitting there and he says "my dear Betty (always called me that) you have a visitor that comes to visit you each and every day..this visitor brings you flowers and they are not just any flowers, the are one of a kind, he takes special care that you have them near you, that you looked afterhim when he was in need and now he would watch over you.." Jimmy said "this person says to tell you that you know his love for the water and he finds peace in this room and that once he could not see but now he sees the beauty of the world...." hmmmm so I think for a minute or two and it comes to me...there was an elderly man in town Mr.Goodyear, probably was in his 80's and his wife died and Rye looked after her even though he was loosing his sight..he did have 2 boys but they lived quite a distance away and from what Mr. Goodyear said they didn't bother much not even when their mother was alive..now Mr. Goodyear's house was built on Muskoka rock formation, not much soil but his wife had brought in soil and loved to garden, so when she became ill he took over tending to the garden even though his sight was poor...when we first met at the post office he had a collie that basically led him everywhere, shortly after his wife died so did his precious dog so he got a Dalmation..pup was a little too spry for him but they seemed to manage..his clothing was untidy and don't think he was eating much so through talking with him I found out that Ryburn who was english had been in the navy..(always talked of his times on the seas) so I contacted the Legion and made arrangements with them..I would make or pick up supper each and every night and would bring it along to him, another individual would come and clean for him and I would sit and read to him from his beloved books and would often write letters as well...I did this for several years, some days would take him to my home..he loved outings...even got him to join the seniors at my community center..at that time the only man..oh lord how he loved being spoilt and pampered....so time goes by and he tells me of the lovely garden his wife had, how upsetting it was that it no longer had flowers, just grass and weeks, so I got it into my head that even though he'd not see it, I'd clean it up and plant the prettiest flowers I could find based on what he told me was planted there...I did enjoy it..he would sit on the deck while I worked and we talked and often he'd have tears remembering doing the same with his wife...he died shortly thereafter...but when Jimmy went on to tell me about the man who
said I looked after him, that he loved the water, that the flowers were special, that he now could see..who but Mr. Goodyear could it be...

As I sit and think of our tea's and shopping outings and visits memories are coming back..I was indeed honored to have such a friend...many friends...all special in my life just as you all are....

Liz, in my shopping spree I found 2 lovely books with garden and decorating ideas.. one of the books has 24 of those glass boxes arranged in 4's with grass growing between the 4 blocks in the ground and it's lit..well now, my head is turning / turning trying to figure out how I can have a seating area with same...
c r a z y ... also, they had icecream sundae glass dishes at the dollar store..haven't seen them there before..well, I remembered that somewhere on on of my garden groups was a photo of a windchimb..with a diamond bit -miniature..there were about 8 holes drilled around the outer bottom edge and where the stand part of the glass is about 6 holes were also drilled then with fishing line or bead cord hung inside lengths of beads and stained glass little pieces which had been drilled to form the windchimb portion..know I can't explain it properly but I'm going to be searching my sites for a photo and if no photo I'll wing it ...lol...so that was exciting...

Well off I go, will check in later, just incase I don't though..that I fall asleep knitting on the couch I'll do my post...

Best...so many nice things happened to me today..Mike and Darlene coming over with gifts and putting them up...nice perm/haircut, finding treasures..books with new ideas...wow

Worse..of course my thoughts are with my niece and her family...

What did I learn...that if you are caught between being right or being kind, always pick "KIND"

Wow, y'all have been busy! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my family! Just got back from spending the day down in Va Beach. I'm tired from driving! Left this morning at 10. Hit the ATM and the bagel shop, then the road. My plan was to stop at my DS and my parents would meet us there and we'd all drive down together for the funeral. Well as I get close to my DS's exit I decide to call my parents to confirm the exit and they tell me I was suppose to pick them up, then go to my sisters. Well, I am about 20 mins passed their exit (and obviously passed my DS's exit - think I was jamming to Van Halen a little too loudly!) so I get off the interstate and head back towards both my DS and parents. I call my DS and tell her where I am and how do I get to her from there. Well, we just decide to have me go back to my parents, get them, then drive back and meet her at a restuarant by the exit. WHEW! See why I am tired from driving! So we finally get on the road by 12:00. No traffic and amke it down there by about 1:10. We stop at a grocery store so my DM can buy a couple of roses then head to the cemetary. My cousin is there (the son of my uncle who could not make it back for the funeral) and it is so good to see him. We chat for a bit them head over to the graveside. My other cousin (son of the deceased uncle) is there with his daughter (who is decked out in her goth regalia - red hair and all. I failed to mention that this cousin is on the ecentric side - certainly took after his mom, not my uncle. Anyway, the apple (the daughter) didn't call far from the tree. Anyway, everything went fine and I didn't chew anyone out - I wouldn't have done that to my DM. After the service we (parents, sister and cousin) went to lunch and had a nice time catching up. Headed back down the road, dropped my DS back at her car and then took my parents to their house and got home here around 5:30.

I'm feeling ok although I did get a cough fit right when the minister started talking at the funeral. I had to run back to the car and get a cough drop. Came home to a nice clean house and all the laundry done for me!! I have such a wonderful DH!

Betty, I bought 3 new wall hanging kits at a quilt store up in Madison, VA on our way to the cabin last week. I need to finish the corners on my last watercolor wallhanging then that one will be done (except for quilting it). My DM gave me another quilt kit today so I really need to get sewing! I might try to do some tomorrow cause once it starts getting warm again, that's all she wrote for the sewing! We're also heading to a quilt show next month so I'm sure I'll be bad their too! Murphy is as bad as ever. He's a 2 yr old in fur. Have to watch his every move cause he puts everything in his mouth. He loves rocks and all he wants you to do is chase him! He got a Christmas card from his sister 'Snitch' last week. 'She' told him that their mom will probably be having puppies in the summer and there will be a new sister in there for him. YEAH! And yes, we're crazy!!! Here's Murphy "opening" his Christmas stocking last week when he got back from the kennel.

Chat with y'all later!

Jeannine- Glad to hear that you had a safe trip and got to catch up with family. I love the pic of Murphy (all 7 of our fur babies have their own stockings too.)

Betty- So nice to hear that you had a good day with friends.

Liz- So glad that you didn't float away! Hope that the storms have all passed now.

Gita- Just remember everything happens for a reason. I'm pretty good with a computer, if you send me his full name, and area where you think he lives I bet I can find him for you.

Carol- I love the pictures of the cardinals. We don't get them here in the northwest. So I love to see pictures of them.

It's been windy and rainy the past few days. Today I ran errands and then watched the Seahawks (football) playoff game with hubby. We won, wahoooo! I have been sorting and organzing all of my seeds the past few days. Going to winter sow some and start others in the greenhouse next week.

Shar,
My folks went down last Thursday and I will be going with them again this next week. Thanks for asking. They are doing the best that they can. Thier family and community have really rallied around them and have gotten alot of things donated; all the insulation and sheetrock to redo the downstairs, a new kitchen stove and washer and dryer. People are so wonderfully generous.

Crozet, VA

Don't have much to say. I enjoy reading everyone elses posts though. Go for it Gita. Will check in again later on.

Morning all, just went to let the furries out and its so mild..my driveway is an icerink..not sure what I'll be up to today..Dianne want me to go to Barrie for open house painting projects but I'm in my jammies, feel lazy and could stay in them all day...when Darlene was here yesterday while Mike and I worked on the light fixtures she went out and shovelled a path to the shed, so perhaps with it being mild it might be the time to go store all these boxes...

Rachel its early for seed planting isn't it or do you put them in pods and keep them inside till spring? What kind of seeds will you start..I've tried this several times and they get so thread looking and die as soon as I transplant..must be a trick to it?? OMG look at what's been donated..sure makes you realize when friends and strangers come into your lives at a much needed time, how very kind people truly are...

You are up early Ruby..what do you have planned for the day..do you live in the mountains..wow..I crossed just part of them coming home and it was storming..quite a feat to drive..I'd be staying home most days...but looking at the villages nested in the valleys made it all look so serene..you could see above all the church steeples..pretty...

Off for a hot chocolate, then a few treks to the back shed..that way is I do it in small trips it won't seem so bad or heavy...have a nice morning...

Click send and your friend will get it.

I had a wonderful fun time at the party last night. It had a dressy western theme.
Some people were dressed up in western garb and others in their regular party clothes.
Lots of great decorations.
This is myself and the other bartender who took over my dayshift in the lounge when I retired. She used to work nights but really doesn't care for the quiet times of the dayshift...so we were joking about her shooting me for giving her my job...but it works better for her family life to have a regular daytime job.
