I HAVE to head to work but I wanted to comment on a couple of things first...
Mau, I heard someone mention placing pictures of the plants you like in an arrangement to see how they fit together. Then you can move them around and find the best fit. I think I'm going to do that. I've sent several pics of my backyard and yes, I have lots of room! LOL Mostly a tabula rasa back there.
Tammy? NOT mad. I thought it was funny. I love you all too much to Make THAT something to get upset over. (Now we'll have them wondering! LOL)
I read the rest when I get home.
Have a wonderful day without me! LOL
Stop and visit, talk all you want. pt 7
GOOD, cause I would hate to upset any of my dear friends! We will be thinking of you, and will be waiting to be bad girls tonight! OOPS, I bet Mau heard that! I see the flyswatter coming! LOL
Flyswatter's back on the fridge cuz Pau and I have places to go and people to see today. Y'all are safe till tonight!!
Yeah, I know what that was about, Celia--Tammy's remark about needing the calculator to figure your age---LOLOL!!!
Terry, the stain was the Behr brand and it is a four step process--cleaning, etching, then stain and then sealing. Cost us about $150--$175 for all the materials but it was well worth it.
Terry, I'll see what I can do about coming up with an idea for the new couch. We sold a leather couch, love seat and big chair just last summer---didn't have room for it in this house---wish I had known you then!
Y'all have a good day. Back later.
Mau
Ok girls, Mau is out, lets have us a high ole time! HA HA HA
Oh, but the pain when she comes home! HE HE HE
Thanks Tammy, I've always wondered how people did some of these. ♥hehe:-)
Lora:-)
You are quite welcome, Lora!
You all are impossible to keep up with!! Welcome Ruby and I too agree with what the others said!! We are here because we want to be and enjoy sharing in each others lives!!
It just took me over an hour to catch up and now I have to get back to work.
Happy New years all!!!
I am making a HUGE pot of home made veggie soup with hamburger if anyone is interested! ♥
Got ham and beans going in the slow cooker and doing corn bread to go with. It's cold here today and the winds have really picked up. DH came home from work a bit early so he can lasso down our shed. He hadn't got the guy wires set yet and it's travelin. LOL I don't do sheds.
Oh no, better get her tied down then! The soup is MMMMMMMMMMM good!
We went to visit some friends in Conway (35miles from here) today while we were "out and about" and our 'adopted' Mom who is 87 years old fed DH black-eyed peas with cornbread and milk. He pigged out so I don't have to cook tonight but I didn't eat anything--wasn't hungry then--guess I'll finish off the chicken and dumplings tonight.
That home-made soup sounds good, though, Tammy, as does your supper, Cathy.
Welcome back, Marie--sorry you couldn't stay around very long. Glad to have you here, too, Lora. Maybe you girls can help me keep the "3 musketeers" in line (Janis, Tammy, Celia)!! LOL
Terry, just tell John that dog hair doesn't stick to leather--maybe he will agree to a new couch then. (or maybe he likes wearing a fur coat) LOL or you could start sneezing every time you sit on the couch and blame it on the dog hair--allergies, you know!!
Mau, no chance in that happening! LOL It is fun to see you try, though! ♥
Yeah, Tammy, I hate to admit it but I'm afraid you are correct. I think I am going to buy fake moustaches and swords for you girls so the rest of us will recognize you three when we see you! He, he, he
OMG ROTFLMAO!
Better watch out with that rolling on the floor--you wouldn't want to stab yourself with your sword!!!
Want to see the couch I've fallen in love with??? In this color too....
http://www.thomasville.com/Item8473/Upholstery-Leather-Benjamin-Sofa.aspx
Mau, John already knows I've got allergies! He also knows that's why we had Cricket years ago and that's why we have Zoey now...dogs I'm not allergic to. I don't sit on the couch...lol...you know how you always buy your man "his" chair? I did that. Long long ago. Only he wouldn't sit in the dang thing. So it became "my" chair. And now I have a beautiful leather chair with ottoman, that he sometimes tries to sit in.
Since nobody came up with a really good idea on how to broach the subject, I, being my usual diplomatic self, came right out and said I wanted a new couch. A leather couch. He about gagged on his own spit. Now to call the nearest furniture store that carries Thomasville furniture to see if they have "my" couch in there so I can see and feel and sit on it.
That's a gorgeous couch, Terry!! I'm assuming that, after John gagged, he said "okay" because you are considering calling the nearest furniture store?
I'll catch you girls later. I'm off to make myself some supper. Chicken and dumplings, here I come!!
No John didn't say okay. Don't you know I don't wait for permission? I did call. Odd, but as I picked up the phone to call this furniture store, their commercial came on the tv. And of course, they have to get back to me...grrrr.....I've also looked thru the Ashley furniture website and the Sofa Mart website. Anybody have an opinion on either? Sofa Mart has one I like also
http://www.furniturerow.com/product_single.php?prod_id=2124&group_id=67&main_img=dev/core/uploaded/wellingtonburgbg.jpg
Oh ya, I forgot about that dern sword, ouch! LOL
Terry, the second one is best, but they are both beauties!
I vote for couch #2, also, but you will definitely need to sit on them before you decide.
I don't need to sit on it, John needs to sit on it ☺ I just don't know about the quality of Sofa Mart. I've always heard good about Thomasville though. I want a couch I can have for years and years. Not one that's going to rip at the seams or something. Or cheap leather.
Finally loaded some pictures on here. Here's the cabinet I had to paint a dozen times...I got the first coat of urethane on it today. John took the picture, so behind where he's standing that he didn't get, are the doors and the shelves. They've been flipped over, the back side got 3 coats of urethane, fronts got a coat today. Bad thing about this urethane is that it has to dry 24 hours before you can re-coat.
I'm having a little conversation here all by my lonesome. Where did everybody go??
I just got off the phone with Bill at Sofa Mart and by golly they have that second sofa in the store for John to sit on!! I have to order it, so it won't be in until the end of Jan. He's got others coming in before that, but they've already been sold. And, guess what...they do the free financing for a year. So you pay a monthly payment in that year and no finance charges!! Woohoo!!
Hey, everybody! Home now but hungry like a bear! ROTFLOL OUCH!!! (stupid sword)
Anyway, I've got loads of pictures for my backyard. Going to put them together on the table to see if I can make a bed I like.
I also have lots of little seedlings coming up in the GH.
Terry, I love the cabinet you painted. Very pretty. And good job on the rest of it. I don't do that sort of thing. Yet.
Janis, cool on the tattoo for mom. What did she get?
Mau, I absolutely LOVE how the concrete turned out! It's beautiful.
PS The second couch is my choice.
I just read about a new corn plant. It's called Zea mays Garden Leader Rainbow. Says that after three weeks in dull sun, the green leaves turn red, cream and green! In the fall, it makes small ears of (non-edible) corn that are burgandy. I HAVE TO HAVE THIS!!!
I'm going to try to scan the pic.
Geez...I am so lame sometimes!!! I thought I had posted on here...but see I haven't...duhhhh!!! Guess maybe I post on too many threads!
Marilyn...sorry I wasn't around to help you out!! Love your concrete stain. I have a small concrete pad at my back door, and I am thinking about making it look like brick. I did that on my back porch, right over linoleum, and it looks great, and has held up well too. I have seen it done outdoors too. You can do wonders with paint.
Terry..love the couches...I like the Thomasville one best..:). I have two leather recliners..one for me..one for him, and a cloth couch. We mostly use the recliners to sit on. My couch is a sleeper sofa.
Looks like your cabinet turned out good...finally...lol! I'll bet you'll be glad to get it done!
The soups sound good, girls! I make lots of homemade soups and stews here too. We love 'em! Warms the innards in the wintertime!!
Boy, I missed a lot while I was watching TV--some show on the History channel now about Stalin (Russian dictator for those of you who are too young to remember who Stalin was) authorizing the Russians to mix human and chimpanzee DNA to create a super-strong "humanzee". Talk about wierd---I've had enought of that show!!
Celia, let me know when/where you get that new corn plant---sounds very interesting. That's a good idea about putting pictures of flowers you like together to see how they will look in a bed. -- and you and Tammy be careful with those swords!!! LOL
So, Terry, did you order the sofa? The cabinet is looking great. I love that gold wall!
Marcy, glad you liked our stain job on the concrete. Did you paint a brick pattern right over linoleum? If so, it's amazing that the paint "stuck" to the linoleum.
Guess everyone found something else to do. It's almost my bedtime so I'll say goodnight. Talk to y'all tomorrow.
I heard about what Stalin had done. It's aweful what dictators think they are entitled to do.
BTW, guy called about our house refi. We close next week! Woohoo! LOL Our house appaised for much more than we at first thought.
Wow, I love that corn plant, Celia!!--just what I need--another house plant! I have a large corn plant in my breakfast room--had to cut 3 feet off of it when we moved last year and it has already grown a foot since we moved over here. I have an elephant's foot which is 33 years old. I bought it when it was about 3 inches high for 38cents at Target and now, well, I will have to see if I can find a pic to show you. I brought in a mandevilla from outside and it is in our guest bedroom and the tendrils grab you whenever you go in there. Any overnight guests I may have will have to contend with that "thing" grabbing them in the middle of the night! LOL In addition I have 3 orchids, not blooming now, and a couple of African Violets and also a Christmas cactus, which is blooming now. Oh, I forgot about the poinsettias I bought before Christmas. So I have a few house plants. I left some with the people who bought our other house because I don't have room for them over here. Couldn't find that pic of my elephant's foot so here is my Christmas cactus in bloom.
Now this time I am really going to bed!! Nite-nite.
Great news about the refi and the good appraisal!!
I ate another bowl of soup and went night night on the couch! LOL Ready for that sword fight now! HE HE HE
HEY CELIA, you got your sword ready? ☻
Ok no goofy costume for me.... I found out yesterday I have to wear a gown and flip-flops for Jess' wedding, that is enough of a costume for me for the rest of my life!! I hate flip-flops, absolutely positively hate them and am considering backing out of being in the wedding party if I have to wear them.
Although I am considering getting a flyswatter to chase my kids around with. Tori is grounded for at least the next 4 days, and Jeff and I are going rounds about who is boss. Monster children :(( If they don't have school tomorrow, I'll probably need bailed out of jail or a straight jacket!
Going to read some John Saul... talk to ya'll tomorrow :))
Janis
edited to fix my "bold" problem LOL
This message was edited Jan 2, 2008 11:35 PM
Janis, I feel your pain! Mine are suppose to be back in tomorrow, and the only thing I can foresee stopping them would be frozen water! LOL
Hate flip-flops? Who could hate flip-flops? Like clogs, who hates clogs? I don't get it....☺
Ooops, forgot....Mau, John has to sit on the dang thing first doncha know!! And we won't buy it if he says no, which he might very well do. I forgot about the quarterly taxes that are going to have to paid ☻
Terry, I don't like flip flops either, but I love clogs! I even learned to love those ugly things they came out with the holes in them?! They are so comfy it is unreal!
yeah but it's hard to clog dance in the plastic ones. go for the wooden ones lol
