Stop and visit, talk all you want. pt 7

(Zone 7a)

I think I'm for bed as well. This being bad makes me tired. LOL

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

We haven't even been bad yet! LOL
You do know I meant NOTHING by the calculator smarty dontcha?!!!
I like that pic, it is cute!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Ok, well night night then.

(Zone 7a)

Had to come back one more time.

I like the pic, as well. I don't think I'll get that one, though. I might get the Quan Yin.

This is the only pic of her I could find.

I just checked the temps. It's 15º here and -8º where my DD is! Yikes! NOW I'm headed to bed.

Good night, all.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I like that one best. It is 7º this morning with a 'feels like' -5º! Not even going outside for a while!

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

School is canceled today :(( I was so ready for them to go back to school today, they woke me up arguing and fighting again, like they have for the past week or so :(( I get so tired of all the arguing. I end up with a headache before I even get out of bed, and it gets so old so fast.

Now Jeff can't find his snow pants, and they want to go outside sled riding. He can go out without them, but he would be so much warmer with them. Sigh LOL

Well, I'm gonna help them bundle up and go outside. Hugs to all

Janis

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Mine are suppose to go back tomorrow and they best not cancel school! LOL No snow, just way too cold! Be careful out there on that sled now ya hear! ♥

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh, my butt is staying inside where it is warm!! I don't do well in the cold, and only go out in it when I absolutely have to. Sledding is not any fun in my book LOL I hate the cold, and would hibernate if possible! I might just curl up on the couch while they are outside and try to nap on the couch to get rid of the headache.

According to the computer it is 19 degrees here now. They should stay out an hour or so, as they are bundled up pretty good. Long day if front of me. Gonna try to get the vacuum run and the kitchen floor scrubbed. And I got to get the toothpaste off the bathroom sink LOL I swear the kids have tooth paste wars!!

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Marcy--HELP! Where are you when I need you? Oh, no! What a Pandora's box I opened when I mentioned y'all having tattoos and piercings! My flyswatter is off the fridge and in my hand---now you girls stop running from me!! ----come back here, you little varmints, cause you're really gonna get it now--especially you, Janis!! You thought I missed that about the tongue piercing, didn't you? LOL Y'all must be gluttons for punishment!

Oh, me, I think we need to start talking about gardening--
Celia, I looked up all those flowers you mentioned WAY up there (several thousands posts ago, it seems). I love the sea daisy. In fact, I love any flower that even resembles a daisy. A couple of the others that you mentioned get really big--like 10--12 feet high. I'm assuming you are aware of that and that you have a place picked out to plant them? We'll be looking for pictures once they do start blooming. Do you think they will bloom this next year or will it take a couple of years for them to get established?
I have quite a few seeds that I need to get started before spring. Several very kind DGers have sent me seeds and I need to plan out where I am going to put these babies when the time comes. Do any of y'all have any particular way you plan your flower beds, such as using graph paper to draw them out, etc., etc. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Okay, have I made you forget about ----well, you know---I don't even want to mention them! I might get something else started! Just repeat after me: "I will think about planting flowers, I will think about planting flowers".

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Okay, Janis that is your punishment for getting your tongue pierced!!! Ha, ha, ha!!

well, that didn't work--it is supposed to be in the blue box but I see that I mis-typed the last quote box--backslash is supposed to be before the word 'quote' but y'all know that I am quoting Janis.

Oh no not the flyswatter! Misty, help! Mau is gonna beat me with the flyswatter!! (running ducking and weaving LOL)

Seriously though, I haven't even given a thought to what I"m gonna plant this year. I have so much yard, and Mike will let me do what ever I want, but I want to take the time to really plan it out so that in a couple years I don't end up ripping everything out cause I don't like where I put it. Honestly, I'll probably just do some morning glories (the big Japanese ones) and a few perennials, and some flats of annuals this year, until I get a better idea of what is already in the yard, and what I want.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Mau I am running for the hills, catch me if ya can! HE HE HE
Janis you take that nap and hopefully your headache will go away!
I will thing about planting flowers-clickity click, done! LOL
I think I am trying to plan it out this year since I joined the Mentor/Newbie thread and got Robin as my mentor, she is great! ♥

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Why didn't your quotes work Mau? LOL

But I got it done 9 years ago!?!!? So I"m still being punished... geez, and I thought being a kid was bad. :)

Funny thing about it, when I got it done, my mom says, when your tongue rots and falls out of your head, don't come whining to me. I said in all seriousness, Mom, if my tongue rots and falls out of my head, I won't be able to whine to you. I really thought I was gonna get smacked for that one :))

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

RUN JANIS RUN! Run really hard and fast! LOL

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

How long have you and Mike lived in that house, Janis? I take it that you have not been there very long because you keep mentioning "the other house"(--is that you or is that Tammy?)

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

ROTFLMAO @ Janis! HE HE HE

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh, I see why they didn't work.. you put the / in the wrong spot. It should be [ /quote} not [quote/ ]

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

If I had another house it would be ALL flowers! LOL

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Quoting:

Ha, ha, ha, ha, I am still laughing over that one!! You have given me my belly laugh for the day!! You go, Janis' mom!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Quoting:
never done it before?
now, did it work? LOL

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Hey I did it! WEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAA LOL

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

P.S. Tell your mom that I know where she can get a pink flyswatter!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Mau, I think you need more than one flyswatter! ☺

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Mike has been here for almost 5 years. I just moved in here with him in October. He bought the house for us (me and him and the kids), but I had a stupid attack and went back to the kids dad to give him one more last chance. Obviously that didn't work out and Mike understood and we got back together. So it all worked out in the end. Except that now we own 3 houses instead of 2 LOL This one, mine in Adena, and his son Jason's out by Cambridge. The good thing is there is no mortgage on any of them. Mine in Adena needs about $10,000 worth of electrical work. This one and Jason's are in really good shape, just this one needs cosmetic stuff, but we are working on that (all the paint we bought and stuff). Now if Mike could get some time off to get some of the stuff done that would be excellent. LOL I just can't do it with my back and shoulder and wrist the way they are. :(( Jess was helping alot but now that she is engaged, she hasn't been around much at all.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

We keep cross-posting, Tammy. LOL I want a picture of that "flower house"! LOL Just think a "flower house" for a "flower child"!! You girls should have grown up in the seventies!

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

3 houses---boy, I have trouble just keeping up with one! LOL

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL Mau and Misty! We still laugh about that comment. My mom has a tattoo too. I bought it for her for her birthday one year LOL

Misty, I want lots and lots of flowers, but I have to give the kids room to play without trampling them. Especially now that I have Jeff on his dirt bike, and the girls are supposed to get quads come spring. We are also talking about a trampoline this spring. Once they are grown, then I'll have flowers everywhere. Oh, and I have to leave room for my pond too :))

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

I hope you are planning on getting one of those trampolines that has the netting on the sides.
BTW, Mike sounds like a sweetheart--you better hang on to him!!

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

I just realized I haven't had my first cup of coffee yet. You girls have really kept me busy this morning--especially since you can run faster than I can!!--LOL

Be back later!!

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

We are hoping to sell or rent mine, depends on whether or not we can afford to get the wiring fixed. Jason lives in his, but has it on the market as he wants to move back to Florida. Jason's is the furthest away, about 45 minutes. Mine is only about 10-15 minutes from this one. There is still so much stuff in it :(( I haven't even started on the garage, and there is still some stuff in the house. I'm planning to get rid of alot of stuff though, especially the stuff in the garage. Since I have no idea what is out here LOL All my books are still in my closet, and my craft stuff (for my beaded flowers) and my probably 40 + jigsaw puzzles LOL

edited for spelling

OMG am I a flower child??? LOL I DID grow up in the 70's! HA HA HA
I am gonna have flowers in every nuk and cranny I can shove em, makes for less mowing for the boys! LOL And I am gonna build a block of flowers to get rid of the neighbors, too! ☻I want a pond but I just haven't figured out where to put it! We have two basketball goals out front by the street cause my boys CANNOT share! ARGGGGGGGGGGGG I am gonna find something that can be walked on and handle the basketballs landing on them! I also have an ugly sidewalk that leads from the street to the house that needs camouflaged, and ideas? 3 kids, basketballs, bicycles, motorcycles, scooters.................oh the life of being a MUM! LOL

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Well, I haven't made it into the kitchen yet for my coffee but I just had to ask about your sidewalk. Is it in fairly good shape or is it cracked? If it is not cracked, you could always try staining it with concrete stain. We did that to our patio and both the front and back porches and they look great. Of course, this house is only a couple of years old now and the concrete wasn't cracked or anything--just ugly gray.
Now I 'm going to get that coffee.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Not too many cracks to speak of, just the one spot right before the deck steps that isn't level. This place is over 50 years old, and I bet the sidewalk is original! LOL Gonna have DH build me an arbor so I can grow vines on it at the end of the sidewalk, but I want something that can be stomped and everything else to grow along each side. Paint will stick to concrete, too! LOL I got some on it accidentally when I was painting something else and it is still there! ☻I wish I had a newer house cause this one is freezing cold! BRRRRRRRR

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Yeah, my nose is growing icicles, too, but it is because I haven't turned the heat up yet. DUH! I'm gonna post a couple of pics of our back porch. This first one was taken the day we looked at the house in Sept. 2006. You can tell that the builder had not cleaned the brick or anything. My DH had to do that after we moved in.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

This one was taken after DH put in the rose arbor and stained the patio and porches about 6 months ago. That's my DH (Buddy) watching our grandson, Zach, who was "helping" Pa Buddy stain the porch.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

This is another view looking back at the porch. That stain really made a difference!

WOW Mau that is beautiful! Have you planted anything all around the privacy fence yet?
WHOA a heat wave now, up to 9º! LOL

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Mau, what did you use for stain? I used a concrete stain at our old house up here and within a few months it was peeling and chipping away. It was thick like paint.

Use native plants and make your whole yard a prairie if you want nothing but flowers. I don't plan on graph paper, I just buy and plant. I don't have a lot of yard though, so I'm doing what I can to get a "house dropped in the middle of the woods" feel. Not a lot of grass, just mostly for pathways and where I haven't yet extended any more beds...which the beds are basically the whole yard. I did have a lot of yard in TN, an acre, but I did the same thing. Only reason we had grass was because the builder kept bugging me about my lack of it. But in TN, over half the acre was left natural, so I had a lot of native trees already in there. It was really pretty.

Ok girls, get your devious thinking caps on!!! I want a new couch. I know I know, I just bought it in '03, but it's that micro fiber stuff and it's dirty and full of dog hair no matter how much you vacuum it, and I want leather. How do I convince my husband that it's a good idea to buy a new leather couch??

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Good luck on the new leather couch, Terry! I will see if I can get my devious mind to work! LOL
C, your seeds are going out today! :)
