Mind your P's and Q's! Here she comes! LOL

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Hi everyone....Happy 2008!! Wow...how is a person supposed to keep up with you guys???? I miss one day, and it feels like 3 or 4!
Ruby...I understand the way you feel...believe me. Let me just say, do NOT have surgery unless it is imperative. It is in no way...fun! In fact, it took me years to recover from the first one....or I should say the first and the second one, since they were only 6 months apart. They put rods in my back and those rods are anchored with 3 inch long wood screws in the pelvis. I pulled the screws loose. I have no idea ..how?
Anyway, they had to go back in and redo them. The second time he toenailed the screws...two on each side.
Now...last year, I found out the rods were broken, after 15 yrs. I guess this happens, and as long as they aren't bothering you, they do nothing about it. But mine were poking me when I moved. Not fun. So I had to go have it all done over again. They took the old ones out and put new ones in. In one respect, that was good. The rods I had in there were stainless steel....and I always felt they were pushing me downward. Nowadays, they use Titanium, which are much lighter in weight. I feel totally different....much more normal...plus I am straighter this time too. And I have healed much faster this time as well.
I will say one thing I am sure you won't want to hear, Ruby. Before my first surgery, my doctor told me to either quit smoking before the surgery, or take a chance of dying on the operating table. I quit. My husband quit too, so I could. I was very addicted, and had smoked for 30 some years. It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. But I want to tell you, I am so grateful to that dr for giving me the incentive to quit. I would NEVER touch one again.
His reason for telling me that was because when you smoke, it depletes oxygen from your bones, and they don't heal as fast. And I can vouch for that!
I am not trying to scare you...just give you facts.
I, too, went to a chiropractor for a long time before....but in my case, there wasn't much he could do to help.
If you wish to dmail me to talk more, I will be more than glad to listen.
Marilyn...loved your little bird!!! Made me smile!
For all of you with teeth problems, my older brother almost died from bad teeth. The poison went all through his system, and he was really ill for a long time. They finally figured out it was his teeth! After he had them all pulled , it was close to a year before he really began to feel better, but now , he is fine!
Well, I know I probably missed some things that were said on here, but I think I have hogged enough space for now! :))

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

OH NO! I hate flyswatters! LOL

(Zone 7a)

PLEASE!!! I want no one to think they are hogging space! LOL Just look at the topic name!

Anyway, I started smoking when I was 15 years old. I smoked until I was 39. I thought I was having a heart attack one night and the next morning I tore up the last 5 or 6 in the pack and threw them out! I didn't have a heart attack but it sure felt like one! It was my acid reflux kicking in full time.

One of the girls at work had back surgery not too long ago. About 3 months or so ago. She said it was aweful, too, and would never do it again. It sounds so painful.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

This is one of the best groups of people you will ever find! i have found a few that aren't quite to my liking, but you find that everywhere, but here you can steer clear of those kind! You will love everyone here, so please don't feel like that! We are just a bunch of nuts that likes to have fun, AND if you like to be mischievous, just join in with me and Kwan! LOL

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Oh Celia, that was just sort of a figure of speech...lol! But I do tend to get carried away when I type!
Yes, I have met a lot of very nice people on here in the last few years. I used to be on another garden site, and I like Dave's much better!
Celia, it was very painful, especially the first time around. This last time, the dr had me take Procrit, which is something they give Cancer patients to help build them up. I think it helped me 100% to recover faster. Plus...with the Titanium rods, I can now have MRI's ...should I ever need one. Couldn't do that with the stainless rods.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Glad to hear you got titanium this go round! Now to give a bit of info about me (some might get a kick out of!) But Shaun's daughter challenged me a few years ago to get my belly button pierced, so I did, and had to try many different types of metal because of allergic reactions, and ended up titanium was the only thing I could use!
OK, I hear something coming from Mau on this one! LOL

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Okay, Tammy, here it is---If Shaun's daughter challenged you to jump off a cliff, would you do that, too? LOL (standard answer from us old folks)

Well, actually I am pretty used to the fact that you and Celia and Janis are "out there", Tammy. LOL Tattoos and piercings--in my and Marcy's day that would have all been a big no-no--only BAD girls had their ears pierced (or any other body parts) and only sailors had tattoos! Horrors!! and only gang members rode motorcycles!!! More horrors!!!
But I relented when my daughter was 12 and let her get her ears pierced for her birthday that year--in fact, I had mine pierced at the same time!! --can you believe it? the old lady was loosening up!! The bad thing about it was that I had gold studs put in my ears and it turned out I was allergic to gold, for heaven's sake!!!!! My ears never did heal up until I took out the gold and let my ears grow back together. So still no pierced ears for me and no gold jewelry either. sigh

Now about that tummy piercing---I'm just glad that you didn't have the unhappy experience of finding out that you had used a metal that had lead in it. You would have been in trouble for sure. It has happened and there have actually been some young women who were having strange symptoms that turned out to be lead poisoning. My chiropractor son-in-law told me about it. Just don't please any of you tell me that you have your tongues pierced!!! I couldn't take it!!! LOL

Marcy, you have really been through the wringer with your back--makes me hurt just to think about it!

BTW, Tammy, one of my flyswatters is pink--I save it exclusively for bad girls!! so be afraid, be very afraid!!!

Well, I have been watching a Monk marathon on the USA channel. He is so funny with his obsessive/compulsive behavior. I know it wouldn't really be funny in real life if you had to deal with someone like that but it is funny to watch on TV. I still have time to watch one more show before my eyelids close.
Check in with y'all tomorrow.
You BAD girls, mind your manners!!! LOL

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Nope, sure wouldn't! LOL
We are 'out there'! LOL I like that one, Mau!
Thankfully I didn't get ahold of anything with lead in it, cause I could only imagine what that would have caused! I couldn't even use plastic, which surprised me!
And I will tell you that I do NOT have my tongue pierced! NO WAY NO HOW! I sat and watched her have hers done and donno how anyone can do that! I won't tell you all that Shaun has pierced, it would give you the willy's! HE HE HE
At least your fly swatters are color coded! LOL
And, if you got no mind it no matter! HE HE HE

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh Geez, here comes Mau after me with the flyswatter LOL Mau, quit reading for a second I (gasp) have my tongue pierced. Have for almost 9 years now :)) Ok, Mau, you can start reading again. We won't discuss all my previous piercings, but none were below my belly button LOL I have had my belly button pierced, my eye brow, my lip, my nose, and my ears 4 in one ear (1 in the cartilage) and 3 in the other. The only ones I have now are my ears and tongue (oh no I said it again LOL) I'm going to get my eyebrow, nose and eventually belly button redone. Possibly my lip again. The belly button only after I lose some weight around my waist, I can't stand seeing belly fat with a belly button ring LOL

Its snowing, not supposed to get much accumulation. Possibly a 2 hour delay in the morning, I really hope they have school.

I'm off to bed, still dealing with the after effects of last night

Hugs!
Janis

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Oh Janis, you are in for it now! LOL MAU don't read her post! HE HE HE
Well, now that you have 'stepped up' I must say I have considered my eyebrow, but too much of a wuss I am afraid! LOL I do have my eyebrows tattooed on, though! I did that for my 37th birthday and have wanted it for years. Ok, now maybe Mau will be after me a bit more as well as you, Janis! LOL
Ok, now come on girls, tell us some of yours so Mau can go buy some more flyswatters as she is gonna wear the ones out on me, Celia, and Janis! HE HE HE

Belle Plaine, KS

Hi, I just came by to see if anyone had black-eyed peas & cornbread! And I saw at least 1 did. I have only recently started using hamhock myself but I'm not going for the jowls! We had a neighbor smoke a ham for us for Xmas. Lots of leftover ham went in the freezer. Some went in the pot today. And cornbread, you bet. Very musty as my hubB likes to say,------must have more!

Tammy, how do you get that cute little heart?

Happy New Year:)
Lora:)

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

MMMMMMMMMMM White beans and hamhocks sounds so yummy right now!
Lora, I will send you the link to that so you can have all of em! :)

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Here ya go, have fun with them! :)

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL Tammy! I have thought about having my eyeliner tattooed on. Still might do it eventually. I have my next 3, possibly 4 tattoos picked out, just gotta figure out placement. Mine are all placed so that they are hidden when I wear jeans and a t shirt, and I'd like to keep it that way, but still have them in places that I can show them off if I want to. That makes placement a bigger issue than the tattoo itself LOL.

I can only wear titanium in my piercings, and only titanium and 14 KT gold in my ears. Have to buy 14 KT gold for my kids too, all 4 of the kids have their ears pierced (the boys each have their 1 ear pierced, we got Bubby's done when he was 2). DeWayne wants his tongue done, but I'm not doing anything for him til he pulls his head out of his behind and starts doing better in school LOL.

I have to go to bed, I hate hangovers LOL and the kids are already on a 2 hour delay for the AM

sigh

Janis

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

HE HE HE I have a friend that had her eyeliner done and she loves it! All of my tats are hidden just as yours. My next one will be the angel tweety, but they have gotten so expensive that we just can't do it right now. It cost me $170 for my brows, and that was with a discount for driving all the way there just to find out he had surgery and couldn't do it at the time and had to go back. It would have been $200. We had, and still have, tons of stuff in the garage and had a yard sale to make the money to get it done! Might have to do that again in the Spring to get rid of some junk and make more money, but for plants this time! LOL Sienna has her ears pierced, but decided to take em out a while back and donno if they are still open. Both boys got theirs done several years ago, but rarely wear them now. All I can wear is gold and titanium as well, but even the gold won't work in the cartlidge for some reason, so I don't wear any there.
No hangover here cause I only had one fuzzy navel and it was small!
Sleep tight and stay warm!
HUGS
Tammy

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, I sport 3 earrings (1 ring up in the cartilage and 2 down on lobe) in left ear and just 1 in the other. No other piercings, no tats, no tat eyebrow, no tat eyeliner....had my ears pierced probably about the time Mau had hers pierced. My aunt was a flobotonist (not sure if that's the correct spelling, person who takes blood) and she did grandmas, moms and mine. Just a needle thru the ear...ouchy momma....I don't think Mau needs a flyswatter for me.....for tattoos or piercings anyway, probably will for the language part ☺

No hangover here, don't drink. But I am tired, so I'm off.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Oh ya, My first couple piercings in my ears came from using ice, clothes pins, and a needle and tater! OUCHY MAMMA is right!
Night Night Terry, sweet dreams! ♥

(Zone 7a)

Hey, Terry! "Phlebotonist"...Person who takes "blaughd" that isn't a vampire. LOL

Hey, Tammy! Is it just you and me now? Shh...

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

HE HE HE I think so! LOL

(Zone 7a)

Okay, here's what we'll do..pssp pssssp psp...Okay? GO!!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Meet ya there!!!!!

(Zone 7a)

So you have tats, too? lol

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Yeppers, sure do!

(Zone 7a)

What are they?

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

A small rose thru a heart on the left, well, you know! LOL Then one on my right leg just above my ankle that is a cross with a red rose (my own that no one else will have! unless they copied mine anyway) Then a unicorn on my right shoulder blade that signifies the birth of Sienna thru color of me, daddy and her. :) And the last one, other than the brows, is a large one on my lower back that is an abstract with a large blue rose in the middle. I got pics somewhere, I think, less they were lost when puter decided to crash!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

HA HA HA GMTA! LOL Darn, I could have made you think I type REALLY fast! HE HE HE
Fast, but not that fast!

(Zone 7a)

I think you told us this but I just forgot. Old age, I guess. I was thinking about getting one on my lower back but I can't find the right one. Something asian/goddess type, if that makes sense.

(Zone 7a)

Oh and I gor carded at Famous Dave's! LOL Haven't been carded in YEARS!!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Well what have you found so far that you think you like? Cause you wanna be sure since they are so permanent. :)

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Oh I bet that felt so good! LOL

(Zone 7a)

I found a couple online...BRB...

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

(Zone 7a)

The carding? Yup. DH and I both laughed. I told the girl to do the math...

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Did she have a calculator? LOLOh, that could sound bad! HA HA HA
Do you have any tats yet?

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)
