For some reason "Over the Rainbow" is stuck in my head. The Ray Charles version. Hmm...

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Morning girlfriends! Happy 2008! Maybe I can keep up with ya all now!!!!!!!!! ♥

(Zone 7a)

Tammy, we've been way too good! LOL We need to get into some trouble soon! LOL

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Yessum, I TOTALLY agree! LOL

(Zone 7a)

We were talking books and gift cards in he other thread. DH got a GC to Barnes and Noble, so we're going there today. Did Shaun have to work or is he off today?

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Cool, have fun shopping then! Shaun has been off since last Monday! LOL He goes back Wednesday night, so back to trouble we will be! HE HE HE

(Zone 7a)

ROTFLOL

Let's par-TAY!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Lets find us a big heated barn and have a rukkus! LOL

(Zone 7a)

I have seedlings!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Cool, then we are set!

(Zone 7a)

It's time for lunch. What are we having?

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

If it wasn't so cold and windy we would have a BBQ! But I guess it'll have to be sammiches and hot tea or cocoa!

(Zone 7a)

DH says he didn't go shopping yesterday so it looks like take-out again. That's okay 'cuz I hate the dishes.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Then I will have a nice steak with a baked tater and all the trimmings! LOL

(Zone 7a)

Mmm...Steak! Chili's has really good one.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Well now I am thinking we need Chili! LOL

(Zone 7a)

Going to "run" now. DH says it's time for food! LOL

Afternoon everyone! Hope everyone is well, or as well as possible. Me, I'm feeling the after effects of about 4 too many beers (and a really stupid game of quarters that ended the night LOL) Just for the record, I only drank 5 beers, so I guess it was probably 5 too many, since I only drink about 2X a year, and always say I'm not gonna do that again LOL

Ruby, no one here is gonna think of you as "that sick woman". It had to be hard to put all of that into words, and none of us is gonna think less of you because of it. As for the teeth and self esteem part, I am at the point in my life at 35 where I have to have all my teeth pulled and upper get upper and lower plates. I am actually looking forward to it, because my teeth are in such bad shape that I'm embarrassed to smile at all. Mine is from a life time of well water and just bad genes when it comes to teeth. I don't have any enamel left on my teeth and they just break off :(( I want to get the dental work done so that I can smile and be comfortable with myself again. All my life I heard what a pretty smile I had, and how it was one of my best features, and now I look like someone out of "Deliverance". Its so bad I don't even like to look in a mirror. I also know that when I do get my teeth pulled, my sinus problems should get better. My sinuses have been a problem for me all my life and I have horrible headaches from it, so that gives me something to look forward to also. My kids and I also have a very rare condition called an Arnold Chiari Malformation, and I totally understand about putting off the doctor appointments until you are better equipped to deal with it. I know that I need to get Jeff's MRI's done, because the younger the diagnosis, the easier the treatment and recovery, but even after 3 years of recovery for Tori, I'm not ready to go through it again. Right now, he isn't showing any signs of symptoms that are slowing him down any so I'll wait, and when the time comes, or he starts to show symptoms, we'll get it taken care of. I'm just not ready to go through another brain and skull surgery for one of my kids if I don't absolutely have to.

I cannot believe that it is 2008. Just boggles my mind. When I was a kid, time seemed to drag by. Now, the older I get the faster the years seem to go by. My oldest will be 18 this year, and my baby 7. Seems like it was yesterday that they were babies, and now they seem so grown up.

Hugs to all,
Janis

(Zone 7a)

Agree about it being 2008 already. Seems like only a year ago...

When I was really young, like 8 or so, I calculated how old I would be in 2000. A bit older than what I figured now and hopefully wiser.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Oh I just love you guys! ♥

(Zone 7a)

We still haven't left yet.

DH didn't check the mail yesterday and I found two seed catalogues in the box. Had to look at those! LOL

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

LOL I ain't goin nowhere cause it is just way too windy and cold out there! I haven't even checked to see how cold the new green house is yet! I ended up having toast then cashews, and thinking of having a piece of Brandon's Red Velvet B-Day Cake! LOL

(Zone 7a)

Maybe I wasn't paying attention . That wouldn't surprise me, though.

B'Day?

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

My oldest turned a whoppin 16 yesterday! :(

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Hey, time flies when you're havin' fun! I must be having lots of fun these days 'cause time sure seems to be flying by faster than ever. How about you, Marcy?

I have a big barn, Tammy and Celia, but it isn't heated so it might be a little bit on the cold side in there. It's on our 6 acres that we still own in the county we lived in before we moved to Cabot last year. DH has big plans about turning it into a "quadriplex" with 4 apartments for the elderly (He's talking about ourselves--LOL). I asked him where he was going to get the money to do all that. He doesn't want to borrow the money from the bank so I guess he is going to make like a magician and pull it out of thin air!! Now that is one magic trick I would like to see!! LOL

Here's that larger pic of that "strange bird" that I promised you--makes me smile every time I see him. LOL Let's see if it works this time. . .

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Shoot--it still doesn't work! Okay, that's my last time to try it. I can hear you all breathing a sigh of relief--LOL

DH and I just got back from walleyworld--needed to get a few groceries, etc. We were going to go out and eat, too, but the wind was blowing and it was colder than we thought so after we got our groceries we just came on home and I put chicken and dumplings in the crockpot for supper later. I'm not all that fond of chicken and dumplings but DH loves them, which is surprising because he is not a pasta person so why would he like dumplings? They are just like great big balls or strips of pasta to me. Go figure.
I know that the tradition here in the south is to have black-eyed peas and hog jowl but just the thought of eating hog jowl has NEVER appealed to me, although I do like black-eyed peas. If I ever do cook black-eyed peas on New Year's Day, I serve them with ham and cornbread--that's close enough to hog jowl for me. LOL

Y'all have a good afternoon. I'll check in later.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I have a couple kerosene heaters we can use in the old barn!
MMMMMMMMMM Chicken and Dumplings, I LOVE EM!

Crozet, VA

Thank you to each of you who assured me that I am welcome here and that no one is going to look at me as the odd man out. Thank you to the two of you who shared your teeth stories. I finally began accepting the teeth replacement when my niece pointed out that I was going to have perfect teeth. I have never in my life had perfect teeth, so I am quite happy with the way that they look.

Doccat, I am also a cigarette smoker and had to "fight" with the plastic surgeons each time they did surgery this past year. I told them that I made up my mind after walking out of the Neurologists office last winter. It seemed that I was falling apart physically and I was going to enjoy every cigarette that I smoke until the end of my time and that no one was going to talk me in to doing anything that I don't want to do.

Kwan, you sound like a very fun person. I am always up for a par-tay. ha-ha I hope that you had a good lunch. My husband made an imitation crabmeat salad yesterday. There is still a lot left over today, so that is what I will be having soon. Yum, yum. Then later on while watching TV, I plan to continue munching on the baked goodies that another Dave's Gardener brought me last week when she was here to visit The University of Virginia Medical Center. Do any of you know Darius? She brought me several bags of things that she had made for the holidays and they are all so yummy. I am making my mouth water now. ha-ha

Until later on..... everyone have a good afternoon and evening. I probably won't check back until the wee hours of the morning. Take care and I loved the pic of big bird. He really is goofy looking isn't he? ha-ha

Ruby

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Ruby, nobody's going to look at you as the odd man out because we're all odd!! LOL!

Mau, dumplings are nothing like noodles. The taste is different too.. And I love chicken and dumplings too!! Darn it all.

Tammy, if you guys go to Mau's barn, you know you're not going to be able to have any fun, correct?? I can see Mau now, standing with arms crossed hollering for Pau. RUN!!! LOL!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Ruby, welcome aboard the crazy train! LOL (they all know I luv em, so I think I can get by with that!) OOPS, Mau might whoop me, though! SHHHHHHHHH do NOT tell her! HE HE
Well doggone it Terry, I already have the heaters ready to go to the barn!

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7b)

Ruby, I can relate, my teeth were always so bad, I could not believe the difference in my appearance. Nor could anybody at work, my boss at that time told me they made me look 20 years younger. I sure loved that man...LOL He was so good lookin too...what more could a girl ask for........LOL

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Now, Terry, don't you go making everybody think that Pau and I are old fuddy-duddies!!! Pau might be but not me!!! LOL hmmmm, but on the other hand I might ought to remind y'all that I DO have a couple of flyswatters on top of my fridge just in case things get out of hand!!!

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Oh, and I meant to add that I know dumplings and noodles don't taste anywhere near the same but they are both made up mainly of gobs of flour and water--sort of like library paste!!! LOL

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7b)

That would be me biscuits and pie crust, DH says they are very economical since they are reusable. LOL They could be used for motor mounts. I love my good friends at PetRitz! LOL

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

me, too---Hooray for PetRitz!!

(Zone 7a)

Ruby and friends, I went from Dave's Garden to...Famous Dave's! LOL Too funny!

Their beef brisket is to die for! Yum.

Got three books at Barnes and Noble. Two are sequels from a series and the other is titled, "Lost Subs: From the Hunley to the Kursk".

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

I can tell you exactly when we last ate at Famous Dave's. Father's Day 2004, Chattanooga, TN. It was one of the worst meals we've had. Ick ick ick. Hubby did get a free small jar of barbecue sauce that he promptly tossed in the garbage. He wanted Sticky Fingers, but they had a 3 hour wait. sigh.

Mau! Me? Call you a fuddy duddy? Never!! (course now I'm laughing so hard I can't see straight....LOL!)
