(Zone 1)

Jan, you may only have a few blooming right now but WOW, those few look incredible! Great job! They are so very pretty too! Is that a Codonananthe (sp) blooming bottom right?

I want to know what that pink sinn is in the back right of the pic! Like Diane, I LOVE PINK too!

Bonnie, that is Beautiful! Nothing prettier than a window sill with healthy, beautiful, blooming plants!

I so wish I had a house with lots of big, bright window's to display plants! If only I could keep my kitties out of the few east facing windows I do have!

Ottawa, IL(Zone 9a)

i use to have a kitty also, but he would only go in the windows with no plants. that was good.i miss him, he got sick & dies some time ago.

nice picture mrs bonnie. I love pics. They tell a whole story for me!

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Thank you!

Gail, that plant is Codonanthe devosiana "Paula" .

The pink plant is Sinningia MacKenzie.

Oh how pretty Bonnie.Thats a beautiful sight to wake up to on a cold morning.Love the streps.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh yes, I remember the Sinningia MacKenzie! You know I hate you that you do such a good job with them. I better take good care of my little 21/2" Codonanthe 'Paula' that I have.

I can't show any blooms as I am still disbudding up until 6 weeks before the show to see if I have anything I can show or not. It is killing me to pinch every bud I see on anything!

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

I bet it's hard to disbud Gail, but just think how beautiful your plants will be when you do let them flower and maybe showing them.Anytime you want a MacKenzie back,I have 2 cutting growing in bowls and there blooooming!LOL.

You are so sweet but I have more to plant up that I can even do right now. That bowl of plants if gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!! You need to get into serious terrarium growing and join a local av club!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

These are the only plants left with a bloom and I figured it was too late to disbud these!

I am loving everyone's blooms!

Off Topic but has anyone heard about this endeavor that some folks are cookin up for 2009? http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/799610/#top

I've been watching the past couple of months and will continue to do so until all plans are finalized to make my decision. I think it would be so much fun to be able to have a DG National Convention of sorts and be able to meet so many of y'all.

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Very pretty Gail.I love Rob's plants and Deer Trail is pretty also. How nice the C.tamianas will be when they all bloom!

Lubbock, TX(Zone 7a)

Ok I have a question....
Rob's Trails, does that mean it's a trailer? And when an AV trails, is it from stolons or do the stems elongate to vine or cascade?
Still have never seen one ......curiosity is killing me!
Chiritas are some of the first plants I'm buying this spring. I've had one before and so I know I can grow it!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Don't forget Diane i told you I am taking all the leaves on my chiritas off, so I definitely will send you some in the next couple of weeks. They grow so quickly from a leaf if you put each bottom stem half in your regular mix and use a dome for a couple of weeks.

Trailers in competition should only start with one plant and then you are right.........they start suckering and put on new growth that cascades over.

But for fun and to look at , I always put 3 plants from a leaf in one pot......let me show you a few pictures......remember too that some are miniatures and some are standard trailers.

Go to a vendor's site and see pictures of trailers. They are easy when you can put 3 plants together rather than one.

This one just finished blooming so she doesn't look good but she has about 5 plants in her pot. She is TRail Along

This is a really tiny mini called Rob's Woomooloo or something like that......She just finished blooming, too

Thumbnail by gessiegail
Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

This standard Rolling Cloudbursts has 3 plants in this tiny solo cup that needs to be moved up to a 3 or 4" pot as the pot is nothing but roots.

Have a friend from out of town and am out the door.

You know I like pink so that Trail Along is pretty. But that Woomoloo is so CUTE!! Bloom color?

Lubbock, TX(Zone 7a)

Oops!`I posted while you were posting... And I've got to get ready for work UGH!!!

(Zone 1)

I love the look of the trailing AV's. I googled and found this person's photo's of a bunch of different ones. Very pretty! Until joining DG I had no idea there was such a thing as a trailing AV!

My Kohleria 'Mother's Lipstick' just started to flower. I will try to get a photo when the flowers are fully opened.

Joseph

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

show us your blooms and don't forget, Joseph. We love photos so we can be envious of the plants we do a lousy job of . Kohleria I make a mess of! (I have one nice big one)

Lubbock, TX(Zone 7a)

I went to Lowe's today after work to look at clearance Christmas stuff. Didn't find any of that BUT--- I did find an EA of Codonanthe devosiana!!!!! SO excited! Also a nice Rhipsalis.

South, TX

Such wonderful pictures! Sally

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Shame on you, Diane, for finding a big basket of codonanthe!! I am jealous!

Lubbock, TX(Zone 7a)

Yea Gail, I can't believe it! They have been getting a FEW of the rarer ones occassionally. SHould I repot it? You know all the horror stories we hear about their potting mix... Both of the hanging pots I bought were pretty heavy?....

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I wouldn't repot until spring, Diane........Al (Tapla) just showed us what to do with soggy baskets and pots. Wick them!
These are the pictures I took of what wicking did to one of my hoyas. When my friend goes home I am going to drill the necessary holes in all my baskets and wick them.

Look carefully for the two wicks of #36 poly string (or pantyhose) that I shoved in the drilled holes with a side of a small pair of scissors.

Thumbnail by gessiegail
Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Look to see the droplets of water hanging from the bottom of the strings

Thumbnail by gessiegail
Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

This little bowl has been emptied twice already. I am going to leave the wicks all winter until i can repot in the spring with Tapla's soil mix on the soil discussion on the indoor gardening forum. His mix works for outside and inside.

Lubbock, TX(Zone 7a)

Are you wicking the water OUT instead of IN?
You know I always used to wnder why some of the EAs I got just quickly crumbled- now I know why!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I am wicking the water OUT and Tapla (Al) just told me that the string only needs to be a couple of inches below the basket or container to do the same thing. My porch will look a lot better with 2" strings below the baskets rather than 12" below the baskets *lol*

Lubbock, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful stringy or not!- I love the pics you post of your porch. Keep posting!!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

How nice of you, Diane........

I have spent these few days with my friend cleaning up the gro light shelves and dumping any plant that doesn't pass inspection (lol).

Now I have a kitchen full of perma nest trays which need to be potted up! Simplifying my life is what I am calling this endeavor. I want to have more time for my outside plants plus I want sooooo much to have a cutting garden once again by spring.

I did have the cutting garden down at the veggie garden until it got to be too much work and weed pulling although the flowers were great to have and to give. The raised bed approach makes sense to me.

Now I have to rob Peter to pay Paul if i do this. Uncle Sam is going to come and get me if i don't get my priorities in order!

Ottawa, IL(Zone 9a)

here is a picture of the babies i can swap , this is just 1 box, i have quite a few others.but they are so cute.there are basbies of rob's chillie wllie, country romance, squeeze toy, scrumptious, satin touch, decelles flamingo,& modesty.

I wish I had room but I don't........but if you want Chirta leaves just say so..........that is one of my projects this week to take the chiritas apart and start over.

I only have enough leaves for one more person as I already have 3 people I am sending them to, so someone speak up if you want chirita leaves.

Lubbock, TX(Zone 7a)

I hope I'm one of those three???? LOL

ROBS CHILLI WILLI!!! LOL I love it- what a cute name!!
