I can't type on my daughter's laptop!!!!!!!!! I love your sinningia, jannich!
We are having a good time decorating her home and playing with the kids. I had to s top by Home Depot today to get perlite and peat moss for my grandson's terraium we made later on. At home only Lowe's carries EA but Home Depot had hoyas everywhere. I couldn't buy as the temps are too cold here to leave in the car. But, it was fun and there were orchids galore all over a big section of the store. I confess I am going to stop by Seguin on the way home as they had so many wonderful plants of all kinds and the prices were sooooo inexpensive.
At home Home Depot has nothing to offer. Different story here outside of Austin as Home Depot is rocks!
Anything blooming?
Nice plants there at Home Depot. Yes, nothing at this one.
Starfly,
I can't access another group on yahoo who showed a double like that in pink. The man who showed a pink double had hybridized it. When I get home I will check both pictures.
thank you
The picture, Starfly, is on my other email address so I will have to wait until I get home to find the doubles in streps. I don't know if he has actually named them yet or not.
Hi there Eunice,Could your plant be Pink Souffle?
http://www.streptocarpus-info.com/tablep.html

I can't wait until I get to stop in Seguin on the way home, jannich! So many plants are on sale right now........hoyas, too.
Haven't complained one day about not getting to plant shope. Maybe I am growing up a little bit (LOL)

Grandchildren
She was in the bathroom, putting on her makeup, under the watchful eyes
of her young granddaughter as she'd done many times before. After she
applied her lipstick and started to leave, the little one said, 'But
Gramma, you forgot to kiss the toilet paper good-bye!'
My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, '62.' He was quiet for a moment, and then he asked, 'Did you start at 1?
After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old
slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. At last she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings. As she left the room, she heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice, 'Who was THAT?'
A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood
was like: 'We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods.' The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this in. At l ast she said, 'I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!'
My grandson was visiting one day when he asked,'Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?' I mentally polished my halo while I asked, 'No, how are we alike?' 'You're both old,' he replied.
A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather's
word processor. She told him she was writing a story. 'What's it about?' he
asked. 'I don't know,' she replied. 'I can't read.'

I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided
to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me, and always she was correct. But it was fun for
me, so I continued. At last she headed for the door, saying sagely,
'Grandma, I think you should try to figure out some of these yourself.'
My 3-year-old granddaughter and I were studying the world globe, and
finding different points of interest. I pointed to the ocean and asked her
what that was. She was hesitant to answer, so I said, 'that's the
ocean.' Whereupon she said, 'Very good!'
When my grandson Billy and I entered our vacation cabin, we kept the lights off until we were inside to keep from attracting pesky insects.
Still, a few fireflies followed us in. Noticing them before I did, Billy
whispered, 'It's no use, Grandpa. The mosquitoes are coming after us with
flashlights.'
*
When my gran dson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, 'I'm not
sure. ' 'Look in your underwear, Grandma,' he advised. 'Mine says I'm
4 to 6.'
A second grader came home from school and said to her grand mother,
'Grandma, guess what? We learned how to make babies today.' The grandmother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool. 'That's
interesting,' she said, 'How do you make babies?' 'It's simple,' replied the
girl. 'You just change 'y' to 'i' and add 'es''
Children's Logic: 'Give me a sentence about a public servant,' said a
teacher. The small boy wrote: 'The fireman came down the ladder pregnant.'
The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. 'Don't you know what pregnant means?' she asked. Yes,' said the young boy confidently. 'It means carrying a child. '
A nursery school teacher was delivering a station wagon full of kids home
one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the
fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog's
duties. They use him to keep crowds back,' said one youngster. 'No, said
another, 'he's just for good luck.' A third child brought the argument to a
close. 'They use the dogs', she said firmly, 'to find the fire hydrants'

Eunice .... Thank you so much for posting this - it made my day! I am not a grandmother, but it sure made me smile!
thanks, there a lot of proud grandmas on here so i thought they would like it,
im glad you did
I just got home late this afternoon and now checking DG. The stories are priceless! I love them, Eunice.
Last night we were at dinner and my four year old grandson looked up and said, "Nana, do you know who the bad disciple was?"..........I looked at his parents wondering where he had heard that and he answered , "I read it last night and Judas was a very bad disciple".
I simply adore all children! The two year old wore me out in a two story house playing hide and seek. When she hides, she really hides and won't come out even if I was in the same room. I literally had to find her each time on the floor on my knees (LOL)
She talks non stop and starts the day the minute her eyes open with, "Nana, are you happy today? I am a happy girl. I slept good with B (the bear)".
Ok.........only one more grandmother story. I bathed the 4 year old the other night when his parents had a meeting. When we were through I asked him if I could put some lotion on him to which he replied, "Nana, do you really know what cold does to things. It makes my skin itch and the leaves get so dry they fall off the tree, etc.............." This conversation went on for 5 minutes as he told me all the knowledge he had about cold weather.
You know we, as grandparents, are in disbelief that our own children are better parents than we were!! They each take a child and read for an hour before they go to bed every single night without fail. Sunday night my son in law missed the end of the NFL game as it was time to put his son to bed and read.
Thank you, Starfly!!!!!!!!!
gail
That is so nice Gail .... Grandmother's proud of their grandchildren, proud of their children!
I was never blessed with children but can so relate to these stories! Made my day!
gessiegail you always make my day telling about your grandkids
it really gives me a blessing to hear them, i have 6 grandkids but halven't seen them in such a long long time
they live in arizona, but i do talk to then as often as i can.
but i know one day i will be able to see all of them.
so keep the stories going, wished you would come up with a grandparent story time
Eunice,
I am busy right now but in the near future, we may have to go to Dave's forum and see if there is enough interest in a grandparent story time forum. Wouldn't that be fun and Lin, you are sweetheart for putting up with us ole grannies!!!
Thanks for such a great idea. I know they started some new forums about
Family Matters, etc but granny stories really don't have a place on these new forums..
Plus we can share like you did as I get so many precious children's stories.
My oldest is 18 and just finished school Tuesday of this week but I can't wait to be a Ya Ya someday :) I think it is going to be so much fun! I miss mine being young but also look forward to the day when it's just hubby and I. We have never had just hubby and I time so that will be a very different experience :)
Gail, SO glad you are home :) Sounds like you had a WONDERFUL visit with your grandchildren :)
Eunice, I LOVE the stories above. Really started my day out with a smile.
I hope you all have a wonderful Friday :)
Kim
