Oh yes, they offer pink. No visors, but thats ok. OK, so I need to order a cup for my change and a pink T shirt for now. I can add to my DG wardrobe of Tshirts thru the year. LOL:)
Dave's Garden Party
I wish they had the regular baseball caps! I don't wear visors cause my head gets sunburned but I wear baseball caps all the time when I'm out in the yard or on our boat! The only hat they have is that big drivers type hat.
Yeah, I need to get a pink shirt too! The two I have are the grey ones from last year! Think I need to get a tote bag too, can always use another one of them!
my birthday is in may and i never know what to ask for ---well guess what it will be this year?
Oh yes, we are getting ready for the party. I want a tote bag too. We are going to look so cute. I guess we can get a white brim hat to go with our ensemble. For our garden tours, you know. :)
Come on everybody, lets get voting. They need a head count to get us some great prices on tours and hotels and stuff.
I can just see it now! Hundreds of us, all in DG Tee Shirts, Caps, and Tote Bags in hand! What a sight, huh? I bet they would have us on the local news! It sure would have the town folk talking, don't ya think?
I think we are going to have a ball. I am so excited.
Thanks to all that are voting. The numbers are rising. :)
Way to go ladies! Spread the word!
Anyone reading the voting booth comments would think that this is beginning to sound like a Texas party. I think it needs to be stressed that it is a get together for ALL of DG. Maybe a little less stress on Dave's request of 500 miles. I understand that he is the lightning rod and the glue...but I think what was originally proposed was for everyone, not just Texans, right?
Yep, for ALL DG'ers! I think we have a lot of Texans talking up Texas as Dave does live there and said he would be willing to attend if it were within 500 miles of his home in Texas. I don't know what city he is in but I vote we have it somewhere near there!
Someone earlier said they didn't drive in big cities, and I don't drive on the interstate at all anymore so I am hoping to carpool with someone once the destination is determined. I will fly into the nearest airport and hopefully be able to hook up with someone who does drive and pay my share of the vehicle expenses. Someone spoke of Corpus Christi and I would love to visit that area, have heard a lot about it. But, where ever it ends up I hope to attend! It will be so much fun meeting everyone and putting faces to names!
You are totally right, shari. I think it is looking like a Texas party, because that is where most of the feedback is coming from. It is an effort to gather as many DG'ers together as possible in the same location. A location that has not been determined yet.
I do understand that lots of folks who live real far away from the final destination will not be able to make the trip - traveling many miles for a weekend garden party will not be possible for a lot of folks. I know if it is held way up in the N.W. part of the country, I would not be able to travel that distance even though I am planning on flying. Maybe, if this thing takes off and becomes an Annual Dave's Garden Party, it could be in a different area of the country each year? That way, those who can't make it one year could possibly be there at another date,
Oh well excuse Drapelady, I am throughly confused about this gathering, I didn't know it is a one time affair. As you can tell I am always behind.
I'm sorry City_Sylvia, I not quite following you.
Debbie
Is everyone talking it up in other forums? I for one didn't even know about a voting booth until reading this thread. In order to reach as many people as possible, we really need to let everyone know that it is beling discussed. I haven't been to the Voting booth yet. How long will the votes be taken?
I encourage everyone to begin mentioning the conference whenever they post anything.
Ruby
Ruby, we have tried really hard to reach the membership. Impossible to visit every single forum/thread. We are asking others to spread the word wherever they go.
Doesn't everyone see the voting booth question on their home page when they log in? Now that Dave's updated it so that you see more information about it before you vote, I think that's about the best that you can do in terms of making sure people see it.
Voting Booth must be activated by each member under the Preferences. I didn't know about it for at least a year after joining.
I have an idea, why don't you give each of us who are willing to do it a block of forums, for example regional, games, and so on, to post and announce the poll, that way we can be sure the word is spread all over. What do you think?
I am willing.
Josephine.
Get right back to you, Jo.
I posted a new thread on a couple of forums regarding the part, y with a link back here so everyone can read about it!
I like the Dallas/Ft. Worth area okay.
I like San Antonio
I'd like to go to Austin, because I've never been
St. Louis is nice, too
and then, there's always Memphis... We have a botanical garden that's very nice.
wow, would love to attend but that's farrrrrr...
Yes Betty, depending on where the destination ends up being, it's going to be too far for a lot of folks to travel. That's why I think it would be fun to change the location each year ... YEAH, I hope it ends up being an annual event with the 1st annual Dave's Garden Party being 2009.
We do to - that is the goal.
I think the location should change each year. That way more people can have the chance to attend. I for one would like to be able to travel different places every time.
No matter where it is held, it will be to far for most of us at that time. Some folks will be there no matter where it's at.
I think the chance to travel to a different place every year would be great. I just have to keep filling up my Daves Mug with change. :)
Rather than starting a new thread in any forum, I have been talking it up, and encouraging people to vote in threads that are already active. A new thread might not get read right away...so I am pretty much making a complete pest of myself and being an in-your-face reminder to go vote, and to spread the word...if just one other person does so, then I've done my job. Boy am I feeling magnanimous!
Shari - you are doing a great job!
LOVE that the red "Attention" message is at the top of the home page now! Everyone should see it and respond!
It has really improved response numbers, that's for sure!
That was a great idea, I guess we don't need to post in all the forums now, good deal.
Just be prepared to answer questions...I am getting inundated, which I don't mind I assure you, but I think some people are getting upset at me. OOOps!
Now it seems to have disappeared!?? I don't see it at the top of the page anymore!
I think once you go there and look at it or vote it doesn't show up on your home page any more, mine disappeared too.
.... It's baaaack!
What did you do to make it come back? Mine is gone too.
Just logged back onto my laptop and there it was! Maybe Admin is working on it?
I haven't shut down all day. Maybe that is the secret. You will understand when I say I in a very anxious mood.
Actually I was using the desktop machine off and on all day ... it stays on 24/7 and I just happened to log off DG to cook dinner. When I came back, the "Attention" message was gone. I just a few minutes ago turned on my lap top (hubby was using the desktop machine) and when I logged on to DG it was back at the top of every page!
I have logged on and off several times tonight alone and it is still there?
