I think he is sleeping off his lunch ...well deserved rest is in order after all of his hard work.
I ventured outside into the mud and found the Choko out of control along with the snail creeper ...turned triffid in all the wet and strangling the roses! ...more visitors coming today, how can I rescue everything! lol wether wet or dry I seem to spend a large part of my life hacking back jungle!

Triffid snail creepers ...hundreds of them covering everything they can get their little twines on ...this one strangling the twisted willow!

It 3:43 pm Friday, Dec. 21. If my math is correct, may not be, you are 17 hours ahead. I think usually you are posting late in your arvo and ...well, I just can't seem to figure it out. Except we are usually on very different schedules. Glad we made it today. Hope you are having a really good one. And of course you always do. Always cheer me and everyone else.

Early today because I have visitors coming at 10 ,Christmas makes it's own rules :) Something happening every day!
I do miss having more time to chat so I am up at 4.30 in the morning to fit every thing in

No sleeping here!!!Just got back from taking down the parrots to get there wings beaks and toe nails clipped!
Then I had to go outside and cover my palms back up,giving them a little fresh air and sunshine before the cold wind and snow arrives later this evening!!!56* here now but stong south wind, makes it feel a little cooler than it actually is!
Pretty pretty Chrissy!!! You need a machete in both hands and just start swinging and screaming like Tarzan, well Maybe Jane!!!!LOL Letting the snakes and spiders know your coming!!!LOL

TM...ID on that greyish thingy????

Bob (DH) is out fixing the Periscope...over 1/2 inch of rain last night... I am SO over the rain after 3 months of it!!!
Just wait...in an El Nino year I will gripe about 3 months of NO rain.....Oh where ARE my Big Girl Knickers???????

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Carol,I guess the flowers are going to be individual flowers, not one big flower!

Thumbnail by Tropicman
Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Carol need some info, and your the pro at growing these,is it normal for a variegated hoya,to revert from a green with white edge petal ,to just the opposite to a white with a
green edge?
I had to big baskets of these, and I gave one away to the lady who trims my parrots, and hers has bloomed like crazy, and mine has yet to show a flower!!!LOL

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Hey...on the Hoya - YES. That cultivar has been around for so long and probably cross pollinated with the other ('Krimson Queen' wears the white outside on the margin, 'Krimson Princess' on the inside) that there probably is no 'pure' clone anymore....so they change and revert and revert back. OH...not a pretty story!!!!

Makes for an interesting plant, tho'!!!

So...the name for that greyish thingy?

Different plants act so differently about blooming. Try matching her conditions EXACTLY...see if that helps.

Think this is the name!
Cryptanthus zonatus, will have to find a pic of them!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

OK...thought it looked like a Cryptanthus...but it looked so BIG...all of mine are really small!!!

Thanks

How fun going thru your greenhouse!

It reminds me alot of mine, although looks like yours is a bit better equiped!
I use the rafters too!

Man your not kidding!!!
At least your taller and don't need the ladder!!!
You have given me ideas now to get the plants closer to the roof, that way I could use more
empty space, that was just there not being used!
Thanks

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

LOL, oh..but I do have to use the ladder! As much as I try not to, but tipping buckets upside down etc, but..I'll have to go get the ladder, and as much as I like to leave it in the green house, space is at a premium. The bromeliads and orchids really like it up in the rafters.
speaking of ideas, I really like the way you have your shelves..it's given me new plans! Right now I have different level broad benches on each side, and build additional make shift shelves for the smaller plants...

I buy those vegetable hanger baskets at the dollar store, then modify them by taking out the sized basket I don't want...can't beat it for a buck.

Sometimes when it's real cold, I'll take a glass of wine and a chair and sit in the greenhouse.

Say! Thanks for the vegetable basket tip,is that the one with 3 baskets, little medium and large basket all attached to one set of chains?
Never thought about using them!!!
Yep I too take a book and set out and read in the greenhouse, but with a cup of coffee, one glass a wine for me and blood pressure goes sky high!!!!

Hey guys, great pics of your gh's!
TM, do you have pic of your pond in the greenhouse, or maybe I'll search the threads and see if I can find some more pics. I don't think I finished going throught the links you posted the other day.
Rj, nice shots of the inside of your gh. Are those more griffins in that last pic? Great idea for the hanging fruit baskets, think I'll hit the $ store too.
Happy Christmas!

If I think about it will get one for you today,it's nothing much more than a rectangular wood box, with a bubbler, grandson thru a finger length catfish that he caught about 5 yrs ago,and it grew up and ate all my Koi!!!
And now he is in there by himself.

Hillsborough , NC(Zone 7a)

Enjoyed the pics of your greenhouses, aren't they lovely place to go into to escape the winter - oh, the very though of the smell inside a green house brings up memories! As a child I spent a lot of time at my grandmothers house and when she took her afternoon nap I used to go off to the Botanical Gardens which were close by. Huge old victorian greenhouses (you know the kind) and plants from all over the world, a true delight to an six year old kid living in England. Acres of gardens to wander in during the summer, all so beautifully kept....

South Venice, FL(Zone 9b)

Sounds lovely Jenny, I bet you visit those gardens in your mind whenever you have a chance. The sense of smell is such a wonderful thing!

TM, that must be one happy catfish! Got the whole kingdom to himself, probably gets lonely sometimes tho'
