Was Clark Gable until the foul ball changed it to Betty Grable.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Clark Gable? How about Groucho Marx? I don't think Clark Gable was ever funny.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

OUCH !

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It Happened One Night was hilarious.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Clark Gable with a new york accent... hmmm.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

As Clark Gable carried Scarlet up the staircase humor was NOT on my mind!

Victor, you are hilarious with that Betty Grable comment.

Posted this on the weather thread:

Happy Perihelion everyone!! Before you say, 'Huh?!', it's the day when the earth is closet to the sun in its orbit. Doesn't that just positively warm you over on this cold day?!

Obviously it has no effect on our temps and is close to winter solstice by coincidence - in just 21,000 years it will occur near summer solstice, if you're keeping track at home. The opposite - called aphelion, when earth is furthest from the sun, will occur on July 4th this year. The difference between furthest and nearest is not that great since the orbit is fairly circular.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Maybe...just maybe...in 21,000 years I'll get an operating bay window in here. We're now waiting for the Anderson representative (head guy) to come over and see the problem.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Mr. Andersen himself?? Good luck!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Just the local/regional version of the real Mr. Anderson. He's already an hour and 27 minutes late but who's counting?

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Gee . . . I have missed sooo much. . . .

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Always found that closest to the sun in winter thing ironic. All based on the tilt right?

But then again, I have a hard time with the fact that the Nile flows uphill.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The seasons are due to the tilt. Does the Nile flow uphill or just north?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Uphill and into the wind I heard - both ways.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just like when you were young.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Actually the river near me - Fox River - flows north, downhill too.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I'm confused, but I guess that means this thread is doing its job well. BTW, two questions. 1. why are we on two different threads with nearly the same title? 2. just exactly how crazy do you get when oeple don't know or understand the difference between its and it's?
x, Carrie

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

What are oeple?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Once you stop thinking it all makes sense.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The people who followed Opie on Andy Griffith.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Carrie, No. It's not even on my radar.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I'm on the take from the apostrophe lobbyist's'

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Wow! All this geological trivia we're learning tonight. Who knew ! I'm impressed.

Now I can start relating this info to others and tell them I learned it all from a Scientific manual called "DAVALVIC Wonders of the Earth Volume One" (Dave Al and Victor)

(I want a cut of the royalties for coming up with the title ! )

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I would hate to pronounce that when I had my lisp.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

I don't doubt it :-)

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Sounds like a Dr. Who episode.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Ooops - we cross posted, Victor, my comment was intended for Al. :-)

Now I really must go and get a piece of the gingerbread house to munch on.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Was he on first?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Watch out for the big bad wolf

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Yes, Who's on first.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just had another thread idea. Only cross-posting permitted.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

You know! x, C

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, it sounds like a clever idea, Victor - but meanings could be misconstrued lol

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hence the beauty!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

We won't come in 4th this weak!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Weak??

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Last week was weak

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Or it could be ValDaVic, but is that too close to Vidalia?
Oops, there is no humor in KY, it is too cold, so I am just visiting.
Out of here now.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sounds Yugoslavian to me.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Maybe. Or Slobovian
