Did anyone notice that today is Dave's birthday ? THE dave...not dave47...
Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - 27
Yes - I posted a new thread for it but nobody noticed! The watched threads feature is a blessing and a curse. I put a link to the DG Forum birthday thread in the one I posted.
Good !
I'm getting the biggest kick out of watching all the little kids with their new toys.
There's one little red headed girl prancing around with her little plastic tiara on her head...while her 3 older brothers keep trying to snatch it away from her!
She's just too cute for words!
Yeah, I knew it was his Birthday today. Victor, I didn't even think to look in the NE forum for a birthday thread for him. I went straight to the Dave's Garden forum and posted on a thread there.
Sounds cute Mike. No kids outside here! It's too cold.
" Oh, Rob."
"Oh, Mr Grant"
The darkest 10 days of the year are behind us and the 255 brightest ones lie ahead! ( I need this stuff this time of year.)
Wow - that's way better than 'half full'! True though - as much as I dislike cold and snow, it would be much more palatable if sunset was 8:00.
True enough, Victor!
Not sure if this is known or not, nor how true...A friend of mine who is a film student at UCal, told me that all of the characters from Giligans Island are all loosely based on the 7 deadly sins...if you figure it out, it sort of fits...I love Snapple facts like that...lol.
Have a happy New Year everyone!!!
the 7 deadly sins - but what sin were Mary Ann or the Professor ? I'll bet a lot of TV shows have to with Lust and Greed and Sloth and Envy and Gluttony! x, Carrie
What, pray tell, could Mary Ann (or the professor, for that matter ) have done to be even remotely associated with ANY sin, deadly or otherwise??? LOL
Interesting concept...We need Victor's input on this!
This is getting waaaaaay too deep !
What are you doing up in the middle of the night? Maybe it's just after supper out there.
I was off today, so I slept in until 11:00 and didn't do much all day. Now I won't be able to sleep for hours...my schedule is all mixed up!
YOu and me both - although I'm feeling kinda sleepy. My poor husband works a real lousy shift at the moment, 11:30pm - 4:30am. So he wakes me up when he comes home and I can't sleep with him but I can't sleep without him - you know.
I can think of possible sins to commit with Mary Ann and Ginger...
That wasn't my question. x, C
What about your Little Buddy?
Gilligan!!!!!!!
Play with him in the shower, do you? I obviously didn't just say that.
Carrie!
Ya'll just got me in trouble at work, I googled Gilligan and the 7 deadly sins, and clicked on a web site and Gilligan's theme music started playing loudly - now everyone knows I'm goofing off...
I'll write your boss a note of explanation if that will help!
I'll tell your boss you are part of a research team involved in one of Garfinkle's breaching experiments :-)
'Simon says Garfinkle.'
Ooops spelled his name incorrectly - it's really Harold Garfinkel - the founder of ethnomethodology. His "breaching" experiments involved people deliberately acting in ways that were unexpected and then observing how others responded.
For example - he would send grad students home with instructions to act like they were staying at a boarding house - they were to act very, very politely, and even try to be helpful! Parents immediately assumed the worse - the boy had been kicked out of college, the girl was pregnant!
So debilu could say she was involved in a breaching experiment - too obviously googing off - with the intention of analyzing how other employees (who are more discrete about goofing off) would react!
Now you tell me about this method, Michaela!! Could have helped many times over the years.
What can I say? sociology rocks! (bet they never taught stuff like that in engineering school!)
Nor reform school.
Nor that correspondence course they offer at SingSing. x, C
Speakers are now on mute and my boss is on vacation so I'm ok for now, thanks for all your help. I'll remember it if a future need arises!
True. We don't dare even say something like Garfinkel here. That would result in a different kind of experiment.

Gilligan was not a sloth!
Speaking of sloths, where's Victor ?
(Just kidding, Vic! )
There's a plethora of bedraggled looking Xmas trees out on the curbs around here waiting to go to their final resting places. It' so sad to see them relegated to the level of refuse.
The city lets you drop them off at a park nearby, and then they compost them, but too many people are just plain lazy and won't do it. If the back of my truck isn't full, I throw a few in there and drop them off. People must think I had 20 Xmas trees !
A lot of ours go out on to Lake Winnebago for directional markers or you can take them in to get credit for a tree seedling.
How's the NFL Network brew ha ha in other parts of the country? Funny how they moved the Pats game to be on 3 channels tonight. I hate to side with the cable company on anything, but this might be the first.
Busy preparing for company today. Being a Jets fan, I never thought I'd say - Go Giants!
Victor!
Jets fan.LOL Always next year or 5 ;)
Sorry but Jets fans rooting for the Pats is like BoSox fans rooting for the Yankees. Or Botox fans too.
Al, if memory serves, both NY and GB have one Super Bowl ring in the last 39 years.
I'm planning a New Year's Day Open House, and am browsing appetizer recipes. I'm thinking mostly dips or spreads with crackers or mini breads. A crab, a chicken, and a couple veggie dips. I make the cutest little twice baked potatoes with baby potatoes. I don't want to do anything too difficult or time consuming. Maybe some mini meatballs, and that might do it.
