Welcome back Betty. Glad you made it back safely!
Best/Worse and What did I learn today-a visit with friends
Liz..I wonder how a snowball maker winds up in California..LOL
Love the jacket..real funky looking...nice.
Jeannine...hope you are feeling better soon. I enjoyed seeing your photos of your little vacation..but didn't envy the problems you had with the cabin.
Welcome back Betty..we missed your posts..we will all look forward to your stories when you have time.
Cheers,
Carol
Hi There Betty!!!! I feel like I already know you. You seem to be very well thought of in this group. It always feels good to be home, doesn't it? I like traveling and visiting other places, but home is where my heart is. .I just cannot imagine 2 or 3 foot of snow. The last rather deep snow that we had here was about ten years ago and that was about a foot and a half. I am not sure that I am cut out for much deeper than that. I suppose a person adapts after a while though.
Now that the holidays are behind us, we can settle in for the winter and wait on spring and being able to get outside and garden. Last summer my efforts were kind of limited. My husband is building me a walkway in front of my largest flower bed that runs the length of the house and deck. Due to deep ditches, metal rods sticking out of the ground and two or three foot high piles of rock, I was unable to do very much with the main garden. That limited me and the other places that I had to plant just didn't feel the same.
I have asked him to please plan to finish it this spring so that I work in that bed. It is already full of perennials but I like to also add some annuals here and there throughout the bed. Let's hope that he will find the time.
Anyway, I am looking forward to hearing from everyone and how they are settling in. Ya'll be good now.
Ruby
Welcome back Betty!! I'm glad you had a safe trip home through the snow. I'm sure you're wishing for that beach now!! Get yourself all settled then pop in when you can. We sure missed you!!
Laura, how are you doing? Was thinking about you at 8am on the 31st as you rang in the new year down under. I hope things are straightening out with your DD.
I'm feeling better today. I'm at work and just trying to cut through the emails and get stuff done. Boss man doesn't come back till tomorrow. I'm glad this is a short week cause it was mighty hard dragging myself (and crew) out of the warm beds!
Well, back to work. I have to write a self apprasial - UGH!

Liz- "Scrappy" is doing great! Growing like a weed, we had to loosen his collar yesterday! I have been working in the yard the past two days (cold, but no rain) and he has had a great time running around and discovering new things. Back to cold and rainy today!
Welcome home Betty! We have missed you!
Yesterday put most of the outdoor decorations away. Going to put everything in the house away today, kind of nice getting back to "normal."
Vicki- Enjoy your day off!
Ruby- Good luck with getting rid of the clutter. When I am having a hard time parting with certain things I put them in a box for six months (I mark it on the calendar.) If after six months I haven't missed it so much that I had to take it out then it goes to the Goodwill or on Ebay.
Have a wonderful day my friends! Rachel
Rachel, what a wonderful idea..lordy where will I find a box that big? lol..
Well, Kathy just left, think she hated to go back home..said staying here was like a holiday for her..animals were teaching me a lesson, still aren't coming around me..slept with Kathy all night..am sure in another day or so they'll be loving me up again...
Only problem Kathy had was that I had a basement flood on New Years' Eve day..she had to call my son Greg and his family over to help clean the mess..now who could have unplugged the sump pump and back up battery unit???? hmmm....do you think it might have happened in error while plugging in scroll saw/band saw and compressor??? don't know ... don't think he was impressed having to give up New Years' Eve but didn't say much when he called today..he's flying out to Calgary for the week so I won't get to see him until his return...Kyle also called to tell me he's taking his snowmobile license course on Saturday (Kyle's 12) and is so excited..both my boys had theirs at the same age but of course the difference with sleds are that they might have gone 50 or 60 miles an hour..not 120..so, let's home daddy gets him his own, less power etc. so this grandma doesn't have to worry...
What have I done with myself today...got 75 percent of the decorations boxed up..will put them on back covered deck until Greg can come and run to the shed several times to pack down the snow..I'd never make it back there..I'm now into vaccuming and then will continue with dusting, washing the upper floors and just might fit in a hot bath...
Do want to get back to you all individually but if I stop now, that will be it for the day..well, break is over..must get up and use up that last bit of energy..
I feel so comforted being here with you all..you have no idea....anyway..hope your day is special...
Welcome home B.. After all we do for our kids and all the sacrifices we make for them , They are not even close to even now, having to give up one New Years Day don't ya think?
Liz we have been praying for the rain and we SO NEED it but I am worried if it comes to pass the way they are predicting that the burn areas are going to be in trouble so I am praying for them in the midst of this rain that we need so bad. I wish that if it is going to be cold, we would get snow atleast one time because it has not snowed here in the 4 yrs. we lived here.
Hi Ruby, Welcome. Happy New Year
oops..forgot...had a wonderful surprise this morning when I checked my d-mails...Araness has been off the system for awhile, sends her regards and said she'll pop in shortly for a visit...was just so excited...
We cross posted Dawn..Happy New Year to you both..understand you haven't been feeling up to snuff..hope you are on the mend..is Greg now back at work? Snow...can I send you some..I've much too much lol...Liz was talking about snowmen..guess with so much snow we don't appreciate its' true beauty..but it's awfully cold here today..don't quite see the beauty in it...maybe tomorrow...
I would not want it often but it has been about 6 years since I saw a decent snow. I guess I did drive in it about two winters ago or three one time but it was scary and I was escorted by the Highway Patrol to make sure I didn't fall into a big canyon. I white knuckled it all the way up until I came down and it was a lower elevation and it was just raining but cars were in the ditches everywhere and sliding all over. I was too scared to try to turn around so DUMBY me was the only one on the road and I guess the CHP decided if I was dumb enough to go, he'd make sure I made it down. lol
Glad your trip was a nice break from the winter cold.
We are good and Greg has been back for a while now but took some vacation days as we speak.
good morning all.
goodness iseemed to have missed so much!
welcome home betty! we all behaved while you were gone, well... kinda. lol
thankyou for your well wishes. my DD and I are talking again but its strained. i still feel hurt somewhat but i am working on it. it will get there.
very hot again today, its been in the 40's last week and aweful! ( around the 110 plus!)
its so tiring, we have AC but its hard for it to work in that heat and sleeping at night is hard too.
cooler yesterday but hot again today.
now the tiger tail, was it you liz that asked? tiger tail is the kind of thread so to speak that is used to make them, its what you thread the beads onto. its wire wrapped in plastic and can be bought in various thicknesses and colours to suit. perhaps your thinking of tigerseye which is a stone that can be used to make jewelry?
anyways, spent some time scrapbooking over the new year, thankyou for thinking of me, it was an aweful new year as that is when the trouble happened with my DD so i am glad that day is over.
well thats it for me today
you all have a good one..
sorry no pics to show, the drought stopped any budding and such in the garden, just trying to keep it alive at the moment.
cheers
xx
