Stop and visit, talk all you want pt 5

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

She is a fibber, you can't listen to her, she really does like being mischievous! LOL just kidding ya know! You sleep well, too! Nite Nite :)

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Terry, those tables are absolutely gorgeous! I love the way you finished them out.

Celia, those were great pics--they will certainly enhance your nautical theme. Keep us informed about what the doctor says about your foot.

Gracious, Tammy! No wonder you are such a night owl--Mountain Dew and chocolate!!!!!! It's a wonder you ever sleep---LOL!!! BTW--Have you ever asked your dentist about getting you one of those "appliances" that they make for people who grit their teeth? It is supposed to keep you from "gritting" in your sleep, thereby reducing the risk of wearing down your teeth prematurely.

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia--what ARE we going to do with Celia and Tammy? They just won't stay out of trouble when we aren't here! LOL

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

I know it Marilyn!!!! I don't know about you but I am too old to stay up and keep my eyes on them....lol!!! We need a watchdog!
Yes..great pics Kwan!
And didn't Terry do a fantastic job on those tables??????
Hope everyone is doing well this morning? It is sunny and cold here...but that sunshine really helps my mood!!
I am going to bake today....and finish those caramels...lol!!!
DH has to go to work soon, so I better go get lunch ready.
You all have a wonderful day!!!

(Zone 7a)

Hi, Mau and Marcia!

It's cold here too but not as cold. Snow coming over the next few days. Up to 1'. There's a bit of wind kicking up it's heels right now.

Yes, thoses tables of Terry's are beautiful. I like the square one a lot. I'm not very good at things like that.

Cats are yowling at me for food so I better get to it. A niece of mine is coming by soon to drop some things off. Maybe we'll have lunch. She's bringing her DS with her (what does that make him to me?) and he's the cutest little guy! I'll get pics of them when they're here.

Hey, Tammy! No mischief tonight! LOL I'm working until midnight and won't be home until 1:00am. I'll check in but that will be all. DH got up while we were finishing up last night and said if we two ever got together in person, LOOK OUT! LOL

I'll have the computer on for a while to see who pops in.

Take care, everyone!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Morning all! Now Mau, I thought we were behaving ourselves last night! :) I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks, huh?! LOL
Om my C, I think your hubby is right! BUT, wouldn't we be the life of the party?! :) Have a great day all, gotta clean house for DH's brother coming for dinner. :)

(Zone 7a)

I have some stuff I have to do too before I go to work. Oh, yeah, and the Dr. appt.

See you late tonight!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

BEHAVE, if you can! LOL

(Zone 7a)

I will! LOL

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

kwan--your niece's son would be your "great-nephew". that makes you his "great-aunt" but then you already knew that, didn't you? LOL

Quoting:
I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks, huh?! LOL

You talking about yourself or me, Tammy? Ha, ha, ha!

Guess Marcy was right--she and I need a watchdog to keep an eye on misty and kwan!!

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Heck...I need a watchdog to keep an eye on me!!!! LOL...back to my baking!!!

(Zone 7a)

No, I wasn't sure on the great-aunt thing. Now, I know!

They're aren't coming now because of traffic issues. DN is coming to see me at work later, though. Should be fun!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Mau, I will never tell! LOL

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

GRRRR-I had a post all typed up and ready to send when the power "blinked" and I lost it all! Here goes again:

Kwan--you mean that you don't know that you are a "great" aunt? I'm sure your little nephew thinks you are great!

All-rightey, then, Tammy--go ahead and keep me guessing! Ha!

Yeah, me too, Marcy--about needing a watchdog to keep an eye on me!
BTW--you are making me feel guilty about not doing any baking yet but I would much rather be eating what YOU are baking! LOL My BFF's granddaughter has requested a pumpkin pie for Christmas but it is too early to bake that so I guess I'll bake some chocolate chip cookies for DH and me to pig out on. BBL

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Ok Mau, I was talking about me! :) LOL

(Zone 7a)

Okay, y'all! Mau, thanks for the compliment. I'm blushing now! LOL

I need to do so many things but just can't seem to get to them. My boss called to see if I had been to the Dr. yet and told me that one of HER bosses had brought a bag of goodies for us! Yum!

Yes, I've been to the Doc. He says I, more than likely, have scar tissue building up under the skin but is not going to rule out something has broken away from the bone. (Gee, what fun I'm having!) We're going to get through the Holidays and see where we are and, in the meantime, I'm to stay off my feet as much as possible. Huh? I'M IN RETAIL!!! LOL He wrote me a note to give to my boss so I can, at least, TRY to follow Doc's orders.

It rained a little bit ago. Wind is stilling blowing a storm in so we'll see how the weather is when I get home.

Have a good day, all! Take care and we'll talk later.

Celia

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Hey C, I sure hope the Doc can do something for your foot! Kinda hard to stay off your feet when you have a job like yours, huh?! Guess this means we can't get in to any more trouble! HA HA HA
Ok, back to cleaning, YUKKKKKKKK!

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi guys, haven't been on much today, but had to gripe/rant a bit. My mom just left, with her "boyfriend" of the past year and a half. Problem with boyfriend is, they met while he was in jail, she was a nurse at the jail, she lost her job over him, and today he got paroled. Sigh. Not sure how I feel about him or the situation yet. He seems like an ice guy, but... I told him to his face, I'll give him a chance, but if he is gonna screw up and go back to jail do it now, before it was gonna hurt mom any worse. And that if he hurt her, he'd have me to contend with. She has such bad taste in men!! Oh and did I mention he is only 5 yrs older than me??? OK, I'm done. Just keep her in your thoughts, that this actually works, and he can stay clean and on the straight and narrow. Thanks!

Well, the tree is up but not shaped or decorated yet. Getting there slowly. Marsue, I'd take you up on your offer of ornaments if you were closer! Hopefully Mike can pick mine up tonight. I can't believe Christmas is only a week away!! I have got to start wrapping and stuff!!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Thank you all for the compliments on the tables! My mom has an antique one that she wants me to do for her now. I have time, when?? ;p

O.k. Who's got the milk paint? I'm thinking it's Marcia, but I can't find the post now. I don't know if I should cry or break something. On my VCR/DVD cabinet, I've put 2 coats of Milk Paint with Extra Bond in it, since they do have some sort of top coat on them. Not a hard top coat, so sanding wasn't necessary, or so the instruction say. I put those 2 coats on, then did straight Milk Paint yesterday. This morning I'm all geared up to go in and put the gel urethane on it and what do I see on the sides? Peeled paint! And yes, I'm a cussing woman and I had a few choice words. O.k. you're all right, I had a lot of choice words. What to do, what to do. The only thing I could think of, was to go get the Rustoleum Spray paint they make now specifically for furniture and try that. My BFF has used it, and had wonderful results. She didn't sand, didn't prime, nothing. Sooo.....I go to the only 2 stores I think might possibly carry it here in town. Do they have it? Of course not. And I'm dressed like I'm ready to work. Jogging paints, polo shirt and sweatshirt, all with many shades of paint, stripper and who knows what all else. We don't have time to run home for me to change, we need to leave then, so we can get back so my husband can get to work. We have to go a town about 20 minutes from here and has a Menards. They have it. BUT, they have black, but it's not matte, like the Milk Paint finish. That won't do. And the can says for better adhesion, it's best to use their primer. Primer only comes in white and I'm painting black. grrrr.....so I finally found this other Rustoleum product that also does furniture and they have a black primer. I had needed a few other things from there, but of course, at that moment in time, I can't remember what they are...until we get home of course. Hubby puts the pot of soup back on the stove to warm up, while I go upstairs to spray this stuff on. He doesn't have a lot of time. Hubby comes up too. I'm spraying away and suddenly all you can smell is something burning. My soup. Run back downstairs and half the soup is burnt on the bottom of the pot. My day has not gone well.

I have gotten all my Christmas presents wrapped though! That's a good thing. I also rented 2 movies. Somebody said something about 'Whisper', so I got that and another called 'Wind Chill'. The executive director of 'Wind Chill' is George Clooney, so it can't be bad, now can it? I love scary movies. Love love love....so I'm off now to hop in the shower real quick and watch my movies. All alone....mmwwhahahahaha........

Have a great evening everybody!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Just wanted to stop in for a quick hello! Shaun's brother is coming soon and I am WHOOPED from cleaning! None of us have ever met him since he lives in California and is only here cause of MIL. This should be interesting, though! Wish me luck!
HUGS to all! :)

Strasburg, VA(Zone 6b)

wow, i have so much to catch up on!

today is the last change in dosage so hopefully will be sleeping through the night soon
seems to be helping i just haven't figured out best time to take the meds so i won't wake up at 2:00am....i can live with waking up by 5:00am because i need to start exercising and morning is when they recommend people with the rls exercise

the puppies have volunteered to help with exercise program...all day too if needed :-)
they were "fixed" yesterday along with one of the cats that adopted us....great program and prices and they are even micro-chipped and had all of their vaccines and other fun stuff...they (the puppies) slowed down for a few hours but seem to have forgotten they had surgery

the vet thought one of them is a shar pei/ pit bull mix....a sharpit :-)
the other they just put pit bull mix, although i'd bet she has some shepard

have to get the young ones settled & will catch up on all of the thread reading later

hope everyone has a great night!

lynda

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Good luck catching up Lynda! Glad to have you back, though! :)

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Celia, could you try skateboarding? Well, I guess that wouldn't really get you OFF your foot--just keep you from walking on it! (I know--that's a pretty lame attempt to cheer you up!)
Good luck with Shaun's brother, Tammy. Let us know how it goes.
Golly, Terry you've been hanging around me too much--I'm always going into another room and leaving things on the stove only to forget they are there until I smell something burning or the smoke alarm goes off. LOL Uh, and might I remind you once again that telephones are for calling to find out if something is in stock BEFORE you drive for 20 minutes? (We've been through this before, folks.)
BTW, I think Tammy and Celia like scary movies, too, so the three of y'all should definitely get together--just don't invite me to a scary movie marathon!

Janis, I really don't know what to say about your mom's boyfriend so I guess the best thing is to say nothing. Not much help, am I? I will keep y'all in my thoughts, though, and hope that everything works at for the best.

I didn't bake anything today after all. DH said he wasn't in the mood for chocolate chip cookies. Okay, by me--I certainly don't need the calories. LOL

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

We cross-posted, Lynda. Welcome back! "Sharpit"--now there's a name for a breed of dog! LOL What does that combo look like? and how about "Shepit" for the shepard/pit bull mix! :D I can see the ads now: "Wanted: good home for Shepit and Sharpit puppies" LOLOL ( Don't say it! I even amaze myself sometimes!) I think I'll just quietly go away for awhile.

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Oh wow Terry! What a bummer! Yeah..it was me with the milk paint. I did that once on our garage. I put satin finish water based paint on. The garage was white, and I had no idea what kind of paint was on it, only that it was very old. It is cement block. Well..the next day, this light green water based paint was all peeling off!! I could peel it in large sheets!!! Luckily, I hadn't done a very large area...because it had to come off. Called the paint store and they said well you must have oil based paint on there. Can;t paint water based over oil based without a primer first. Geesh...what a mess!
Lynda...good to see you back. You must really have RLS bad if it keeps you awake EVERY night!! I thought I had it bad, but I don't get it every night! Well..that is...not enough to keep me up all night. Good luck on getting the meds worked out.
Cute names for the pups Marilyn...lol!!
Janis....I sure hope things work out for your mom and her B/F. I'm like you with the Christmas wrapping. I need to get busy on it!! I hate to wrap!
I made these triple chocolate cookies today . The recipe is on the recipe forum. Can't think who sent it right now. Anyway...they are excellent!!! DH doesn't much like chocolate, but he loved these.! I will have to watch him so I have enough for my cookie cans that I give as gifts!
I am waiting on the last of them to cool now, so I can get them put away.
We were supposed to go to our DGS's Christmas program tonight, but they cancelled it until tomorrow night.
Well....I am going to check some other forums and then maybe do some wrapping.
You all have a good night. :))

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Yep, I love scary movies, too! Especially ones like Freddy VS Jason!
Things are going great with his brother, just waiting for food as I haven't had any today!
Sharpit, I think that is cute, but you better watch out for "Miss Watchdog"! :)

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

BOO!!! Did I scare you?? Anybody??? LOL!

'Whisper' was pretty good, but 'Wind Chill'?? Oh my, now that is one psychological thriller!!

Marcia, we must be related. Our garage is cinder block. I knew that the last people painted it...or so I was told. They had a fire, so I'd guess they had it re-painted. They had to replace some of the wood in the gable and of course that was that perty baby blue. The rest was...drum roll please....white! I figured it was water based. It's not peeling off in sheets, but it is peeling. I painted the foundation too. I've already painted it 2 yrs in a row!! With this Milk Paint that I bought, like I said before, it's dry and you mix it with equal parts water. If it's something that's been painted and/or finished before, you add 1/3 of Extra Bond to what you mixed up. It's not supposed to peel. What can I say? They lie? If it's a shiny hard finish, then you just scruff it up, but this wasn't a hard shiny finish. I washed it with TSP, just like the directions said to. So what the heck is the problem? The primer that I bought and went over the already painted sides, is so far, still sticking. Tomorrow I can paint the Milk Paint on it again. This stuff goes over oil or water, varnish, shellac, whatever. Oh and on priming of a cement block? I've been told that you never want to put on a primer. That it seals up the porousness of it or some such thing. Anyway it's not what you're supposed to do. There is a way of telling if it's oil or water based. You take a cotton ball dipped in alcohol and wipe the paint. I "think" that if it's water based, it comes off on to the cotton ball. If it's oil, then it doesn't. Again, I think. It could be the other way around. Is your Milk Paint, General Finishes? That's the one I've seen in liquid form. I don't know how it works or how well it works. I've always used the paint from The Milk Paint Company.

Now Mau!! I didn't drive 20 minutes to find it! I was right here in town. Then I drove 20 minutes to find it. I knew Menards would have it. I'd seen it before. And anyway, I was at Wal-Mart, I had my cellphone, but was low on minutes, PLUS I don't know what Menards phone number is! So while I was over there, I went ahead and refilled my phone with more minutes. I'm good for another 90 days now.

Janis, your mom and my sister. My sister started dating this guy well over a year ago. And she hated him with a passion. I hated him with a passion. Same sort of guy she always goes for...very controlling and loves to put her down. Mau knows that he tried it on me too. Now that isn't going to work! You want to put my sister down and she wants to take it? Feel free, but don't you EVER talk to me like that! He's going right back to how it was before between he and I....him being very nervous around me. Why oh why does she always pick this kind of guy?

(Zone 7a)

Terry, women are extremely good at finding the wrong guys. Problem is, they don't understand that it IS wrong. We all have the ablility to correctly judge others but the bad part is, a lot of women don't know what to do with that knowledge. Does that make sense? I hope this is coming out the way I mean it. It's late.

Anyway, good luck with him, Janis. Thinking of you and yours. Is Tori better now?

Tammy? Glad you're having fun with the brother. (That sounded very wierd to say in my head.) But you know what I mean! LOL Puppies good?

Lynda, is it going okay with the new meds? Are they working for you? Love the sharpit name. DH and I always combine words to make funny ones.

Whomever suggested the skateboard...that's not such a bad suggestion as I used to ride big time! LOL When I was a kid in SoCal, I entered all the competitions. Didn't win any but came close a couple of times. It's been years but I think next time I see a kid in our store with one, I'll ask him if I can borrow it to find out! LOL

And the scary movies? Point me to them! I can't get enough. Stephen King is my idol! LOL DH can't understand how a "sweet young thing" like me can watch all that horror stuff and not have nightmares all the time! I have a DB that sends lots of them. And we trade books.

So, the snow hasn't come in yet. maybe by Thursday, is what they're saying now. We'll see, won't we?

Well, goodnight all. I probably won't check in in the morning. I'll be busy until I leave for work. Again. Be good, be kind, be yourself.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Yep, Terry skeered me fer shure! LOL Won't take much at 4 in the morning, though! LOL I fell asleep on the couch sometime, so Shaun just left me be. :) His brother was a real character and was such a pleasure to meet! We had steak, mashed taters, corn, salad and burn and serve rolls as I call em! LOL I love the things, though! Even my boys got along and was behaved while he was here, I was kinda impressed! And Sienna wasn't afraid of him, which was really sumpin! He is headed back to California today, but glad we got to meet at least. He told some funny stories, for sure, and had some garden talk of his own that was quite interesting! I bet you there are people here on DG that even knows him! Well, guess I will try to get back to sleep before the boys are up for school and I have to get up then! LOL Hope all are well, and Celia, I am having "mischief" withdraws! SHHHHHHH, don't tell Mau! LOL Have a great rest of the night! HUGS

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Marcy--triple chocolate cookies--not THAT sounds good. I'm going to try to find that recipe over in the other forum.
Tammy and Celia--when do you girls sleep! 2:44 a.m. and 4:18 a.m. for heaven's sake! WHAT are you doing up that time of night (or morning)?
Tammy, I'm glad the visit with Shaun's brother went well.
That was me who suggested the skateboard, Celia. Let me know how it goes, if you find one, that is. LOL
Boy, are we socked in this morning--FOG-- I can just barely see the houses across the street right now and it is almost 9 a.m. DH has gone with a friend who had to drive to Newport this morning to pick up a piece of equipment. Newport is about 60 miles form here, I think, so they will be gone for a while. It's freeway almost all the way, though, so the drive shouldn't be too bad, even in the fog.
I think I'm talking to myself on this thread, so I'll check in later.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

BTW, here is a little Christmas Greeting for all of you. This originally was sent to us on the Mid-South Forum by Mr. Kodak (Mark) of the UK.

http://badaboo.free.fr/merryxmas.swf

(Zone 7a)

That was cute! Thanks, Marilyn.

I have never needed a whole lot of sleep. Last night I got home at 1am (2am your time). Sometimes, I will take a five minute nap at work while on break and other times a 20 minuter while at home but that's it.

Tammy, I know what you mean about the withdrawals! LOL And I will get DH to stop and get postage on his way home this afternoon. I keep forgetting.

It's 35º and rainy. We'll get our snow as they have a heavy snow advisory out for tomorrow. I just hope this rain doesn't freeze tonight and then we have snow on top of it. That's when the bad accidents happen with deaths. Don't want that. I hate hearing the sirens go by.

That's all people. Have a great day and we'll talk later.

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Hi everybody!
Hey Marilyn, that recipe is on a thread called Favorite chocolate chip cookies. I mean to tell you ...it is GREAT!!!!
And before I forget it again...lol...Terry, that paint is made by Olde Century Colors, Inc., made in South Bend, Indiana. I'm sure they have a website.
We had a guy come and prime the whole garage and then paint it. That was two years ago and it still looks good. No peeling. He used water based paint.??? Whatever works!!! It kind of sounds like your cabinet just needed a primer? Anyway...good luck!
I have always loved painting...but I really don't like to refinish things...and I have done a few...lol. My whole house is done in Shabby Chic....that is...worn off paint, etc. I live in a cottage style house....got the white picket fence and all. I love it! Love anything old...even my DH...hahaahaha!!!
I don't like scary movies though...in fact, I rarely watch movies at all! But that's because I fall asleep trying to watch them....lol!
Anyway!! Time for me to get busy here! Need to get some more baking done, and then have to go to little grandson's Christmas program tonight. It was supposed to be last night , but they changed it.
I think she thought they needed more practice....hahaa. They are only 4-5 yrs olds.
You all have a wonderful day.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Good afternoon all! See Mau, I slept! LOL I actually fell asleep on the couch and Shaun left me be, then I woke up at 4am having to go potty and couldn't go back to sleep for about an hour or so. Then Brandon was up at 5am getting ready for wrestling practice, Dustin up at 7 for school, so I slept afterwards! LOL I HAVE to have my sleep or I am one cranky ole fart! Hope you all have a wonderful day! I haven't even had my coffee yet. :)
HUGS
Tammy

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Hey, Marcy, I found that Triple Chocolate Cookie recipe--it looks yummy! I have everything but the white chocolate chips. I meant to look at that recipe BEFORE I went to the grocery store but I forgot and now I just got home and found the recipe but I can't make them yet. FOOEY! Did you make the recipe just as it is printed, Marcy, or did you make some substitutions--like using all semi-sweet choco chips instead of the white chocolate? I noticed that someone on that thread said they had used cinnamon-flavored chips--I didn't know there was such a thing but then I have never looked for those. Enjoy your g'son's Christmas program tonight--those little fellows are always cute no matter how little practice they have had!

Tammy, I am glad you got some sleep! :o))

Our fog went away and the sun came out. It was really nice for a while but now it is overcast again and rain predicted for later tonight. Hope the snow and ice doesn't cause problems for you tonight, Celia.

I'll check back in later.

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Janice Merry Christmas to you and thanks for making my day!!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

See, I CAN be a good girl! :)

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Awww, Tammy, Teensy and Tuxedo are so cute! and that "fuzzy plant" of yours reminds me of one I had when I was growing up! LOL

edited to say that DH and I will be taking MIL to the Doctor tomorrow so we have to leave here at 8 a.m. and won't be back home till late tomorrow afternoon. I'll check in with you all then. Celia and Tammy, y'all stay out of mischief! (I'm beginning to sound like a broken record!) and Terry, make sure you don't encourage them! LOLOL

Later. . .
