Barb....Welcome to you and your handsome feline fella!! Adorable!
Cat - that photo of your decorating kitty is so fun! He is really into it!
Victor - love your tree......very festive and pretty.
Arlene - I love that Butterfly Santa. He is so unique and pretty! Your tree is lovely as well!
This thread is a lot of fun!
Show us your holiday decor, cont.
The couch catatoe is lovingly called 'Fatapus'. I inherited her from my father a few years ago. Her favourite pastime is eating and catnapping. She is a beaut!
Yes, we have beautiful gardening weather here, there is a misconception that the weather here is a lot colder than New England. It is about the same. Beautiful summers and fall, snowy winters but our springs leave a lot to be desired.
I can't tell you all how much I am enjoying this thread, lurker that I am lately. I am finally making a dent in my decorating, so I hope to have some pics soon.
Thom, I think we may be Christmas decorating soulmates. I am red and green with envy over your gorgeous Santas. We have trees and decorations on every flat surface in the house. I try to change the themes for the trees every year. And tell Paul we sympathize about his Star Wars ornaments. they are treasured here as well. (they're going on a regular tree this year, but last year we hung them on a rose pillar that wasn't going outside until spring)
My son would love the Star Wars tree!
We have Star Trek and now 2 ships from the Serenity series, too. DH is an Air Force vet and likes anything that flies LOL. plus we both like sci-fi. last year I got some of those M&M's dressed as Darth Vader, Pricess Leia, etc. they crack me up.
Such amazing felines sneak onto this thread! I love it that they are all holiday decorating critics. Somehow, I just can't imagine decorating for the holidays without one of them running off with an ornament or two and placing it where THEY think it needs to be!
I was just commenting to a coworker that I really miss having cats. Unfortunately, everyone in my family is allergic to them so no one would be able to come to my house to visit.
on second thought....
Oh, the cats are so adorable! I just had to post an old photo of my (deceased) cat. Both of mine were so much a part of the family that we keep their ashes and photos on a shelf in my room - the computer/music room! This is Squeak! Eleanor
If you thought I wrote "These is Squeak", you were seeing things!!

LOL, Anita!
And this is Dustmop or we called him Dusty (also deceased)! Notice that this is a full sized tree and not my little table top tree. ( "I" - I don't know why that was in here!!!) The cats both loved laying under the tree with the Christmas village. When I set up the village I would always save them a spot to lay in. Eleanor
Either a typo or a bad senior moment!

Eleanor:
I know. We have two cherished dogs and a very well-loved cat on our memorial shelf.
Anita:
My DSIL is allergic to cats, but guess who's the first one to want to bring a new one home? I think that's why we have four felines!
I think we may have mis-labled this thread..it should be Christmas Cats.
Bluecow, welcome to the N.E. forum and what a handsome hunk of a feline you have there!
I love dogs too but cats are much more independent and can have such attitudes. And why is it cats have to investigate the Christmas tree a million times? My dogs sniffs it, make's sure there aren't any critters(squirrels, chipmunks) in it and then they are fine. Romeo on the other hand checks it out several times a day. Thank goodness he is not one to climb it as other felines I have owned have done. We use to have to tie the tree up every year, one year it crashed 3 times and I lost some very precious ornaments. Lessons learned the hard way!
I miss my cats, too. I had Rosie for 18 years and Tigger (one of her babies) for almost 17. Don't have any digital pics or I'd post. Someday when I get them scanned. I love seeing everybody else's!
Well, I got a few trees finished last night, so here goes.
I usually use these fist 2 trees for my most delicate breakables. They show off so nicely. But with DH in the power wheelchair that seems to have a mind of it's own (and I have the dings in the fridge and woodwork to prove it!), I decided to go 'softer'.
The first one is 'The Island of Misfit Toys'. The are both in my tiny front foyer and it was tough to get back far enough to get the whole tree in.
Wow, too much scrolling. I resized the next one.
This has a bunch of soft ornaments. Boyd's, Beanies, some little ones that I crocheted myself years ago. At the bottom left are Frosty & Karen (can't remember the name, but it's the one where they take the train north so he doesn't melt). On the right are Pooh dressed as a reindeer, Pooh as a snowman, Eeyore as Santa and Eeyore as the Sugar Plum fairy.
Jan - I love all of your trees!! Eleanor
Jan:
I love the Advent tree.
I'm thinking that I'll have to make one for next year. It's such a nice change from a calendar.
'morning, Eleanor. thank you. I have a bunch more to do, including the BIG one. my son and biggest granddaughter were here yesterday and put it up for me, so all I have to do is hang the ornaments.
here's one that kind of looks a mess. It's my 'new ornament' tree. every year I have a little tree where I put all the new ones I get so everybody can see them without me having to locate them on the other trees. every year I swear I'm not getting new ones.
Also wanted to extend a warm holiday welcome to bluecow and Fatapus. that picture is adorable! can I get in one cuddle?
I love all the Christmas decorations.
Love all the decorations! Onewish your village is amazing!
Gram, I love that tree with the misfits!
onewish, the doggies look almost as angelic as the angel :) I love your village. I don't have mine up yet. I ordered that snow that has the lights built in...I'm a little skeptical about how that's going to work. We'll see.
debi, I noticed your snowflakes in an earlier pic. I had no idea you had make them yourself. thought they were stick-ons or something. they're beautiful!
Better Homes & Gardens has a fun thing. You can cut out a virtual snowflake. Here's the link.

the snow with the lights.... the one I saw I thought was a bit pricey... I was thinking maybe a battery powered light string, or just running a short plug in... put under the kind of snow we have might be cheaper
I got it online on sale, so I bought 2.
let me know how it looks
Beautiful, Allison & Jan!
