now some of the nice, well-behave cartoon characters...Winnie-the-Pooh, Muppets, etc. the angel is one that my oldest DGD bought me at a craft sale because she didn't like it that my little trees didn't have angels
Show us your holiday decor, cont.
Blue Santa's are right up my alley! Love em!!
Pix, do you have any? I got that salt-glazed one on the left a long time ago. I want more but none of my real Santas will take the hint LOL
Very nice Jan! Wow - you do have a lot.
No I don't have any but anything blue appeals to me. I even bought a daylily named 'Bleu Celeste' but naturally it's not blue as daylilies don't come in blue....yet!
Blue cheese?
V, is that the best you could do?
AUP!
gotcha
EXCEPT blue cheese, leave it to Victor to think of that!
Victor - You would be the Snow Miser then. One of Appleton's most famous son's is Maury Laws - he did all the music for Rankin & Bass. I actually use to treat his lawn - never got the courage to ask him what kind of drugs they were on.

Hey - wait a minute! I love all the Rankin / Bass stuff. Still watch them every year. Use my kids as an excuse. We watched them before we had kids!
I like Rankin & Bass, I'm just saying they were out there - like an animated Sid & Marty Croft.
They're so cute.
Ran across this site with printable snowflake patterns. Tried two myself. Nice but you do need small, sharp scissors.

Oh Victor! You don't need a pattern for snow flakes silly you! No two are the same, remember. You just fold your paper and take your scissors and start cutting here there and everywhere. Having a pattern takes the fun out of making paper snowflakes! Go ask your kids to show you how it's done! Learn from the pros!
Debilu! That little birch polar bear still life is no more which is a real bummer because I really liked it. Somebody started with an ear then came back and progressed to the legs and body. I'm thinking it was a feline free for all here after I left because my birch polar bears have been reduced to shreds of birch bark. That's what I get for leaving something constructed out of bark at ground level. Easy come, easy go.
Of course I know that Lauren! We did that too but these were very cool. No way would random ones come out this nice.
I don't know Victor - mine are pretty good! And I find the fun in not knowing til you open them.
Yours are very nice, Deb. Any hints??
Years of practice. Sometimes I open them up after cutting the outside edge to make sure I like the shape. Cut diamond halves toward the pointed end of the folded paper to get the center star shape.
Another diamond on the opposite side close to the first makes a nice pattern.
I do like the patterns in the link you posted, especially the first one. I'll try that.
Men and snowflakes!
Snowflakes and men!
Should I continue that poem??
Sure, go for it ;)
Men and snowflakes!
Snowflakes and men!
No two alike?
Then how'd I get ten?
Just fold it and cut it,
How hard can it be?
Should men try those snowflakes?
You talkin' to me??!!

Jan my mom gave me her hummel ornaments ... love them... just reminds me of the things I WAS NOT allowed to touch as a child
:)
Cute Victor!
AND...Our Gal JylGaskin is totally unbelievable!
After seeing her beautiful Santas on the first decorating thread, I found her site on Ebay and ordered 2 - One for me and one for my Wonderful Cowboy. This woman is so unbelievably talented and doesn't skip a beat when it comes to detail. I think she also has such a great sense of humor and it obviously comes out in her work...I finally got to the post office today to pick these up and couldn't wait to get them home. The Cowboy is a gift and I WANNA keep him! haha
The detail is incredible. Little snakeskin cowboy boots, suede chaps, leather vest with stitching, Christmas adorned Cowboy Hat, the fly and back pocket on the denim pants. The facial expressions are hysterical, with eyes that are so amazing...
They're adorable!
