Thanks.
That shot I zoomed in a little ways. The key was that the sun was so bright that I was able to get closer and not have my reflection in the ball.
If you can stay low and hide behind a branch a little bit that helps too.

This was a shot that was framed nice, but came out dark and grainy.

I'm decorating our tree with the kids now. I'll be getting some shots later.

Oh Victor! I love decorating with the kids! Do you have holiday music playing? Will there be hot cocoa and marshmallows?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Nice close ups Al.
Here is the village under the tree.

Victor, do you decorate it with anything other than the kids, a few lights, icicles?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No - just the two kids hanging. Have to feed them like that for two weeks!

We did have music on for a while Candyce. Then I watched the baseball steroids pressers.

Very nice, cattjovi!

Thanks Al. I did think I saw your reflection.

Al - I think you've perfected the "pretty ornament shot"! It really would make a great Christmas card, and that simple shot of the tree branch is lovely too. It seems that anything in your hands becomes art. Very nice!

Deb - your village is very cool and I love the meese nativity!

Victor - that fish ornament is wild! Nice job with photographing the ornaments.

catjovi - very pretty mantel and dining room! Very warm and Christmasy!

Thanks to you all for sharing your lovely decorations!!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I also like the fish. And the mantle.
Finished making my Christmas cards and mailed them today. A few more cookies, and a little shopping, then I'm ready.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks Louise I appreciate it.

Debi - That reminds me I traded with someone seeds for cookies last year - I should do that again.LOL

catt, love your Santa butterfly!
Al, your ornament shot is beguiling. really like the ornament in the ornament reflection.
Victor, da tweee, da twee.....weeeeeeee!!

Love the Misfits.

Really like the Christmas trees made by pollyk's grandson. I think those might be my favorite out of everything I've seen in this thread and the first thread because I know little hands made them.

Victor, your tree looks a lot like the trees I saw in old family photos of Christmases past from when my husband was young.

cattjovi, will you please explain to me what is in the middle of your dining room table? I've seen those before and don't understand what they are and wanted to ask but felt sort of silly. I'd really love to know the history behind them and why people only bring them out at this time of year. They're really pretty... what ever they are.

I pulled my winter themed snow globes up from the basement and set up a few snowmen decorations here and there and we have half of the deer herd working outside which is a step in the right direction. Must find my husband's childhood nativity scene because it has much sentimental value to him. Bought some blue sparkly poinsettias and it does look more festive around here but you people are literally blowing me out of the water. Truly nice decorations everyone. Do you all put lights outside too in addition to everything you do inside your homes?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Nice trees Victor and Catt. I have all LED lights, which have a nice deep color, but not the brightness of the old lights, and maybe that's why my tree doesn't sparkle and reflect.
Does anyone use tinsel? I haven't for many years, but as kids we did.

Richmond Hill, GA

The centerpiece on my table is a German pyramid, It holds a small nativity. My mother was German so it reminds me of my childhood. When you light the candles the heat makes the fan blades at the top turn which causes the entire center to spin.

I did not like the look of the LED's on the Rocky Center tree at all. Way too dull. Lauren, my camera does time travel stuff too.

Loved all of the new decorations posted!! Very festive! Eleanor

I could reply to all your threads, but I'll be nice.

Happy holidays everyone.......I am thoroughly enjoying lurking in the background admiring everyone's great decorations and Xmas ideas. We are late this year, have put a few decorations up inside but no tree yet or we haven't touched the outside. I will post a few pixs when we finally do. DH is in Alert right now (North Pole) but will hopefully be able to get out tomorrow for Thule in Greenland before heading back to Canada. He said he was disappointed he missed Santa. If all goes well he will be back this weekend but there is a storm forecasted for Toronto where he has to fly in to before getting a connecting flight to Nova Scotia. I remember growing up we didn't put up the tree until Xmas Eve. May be doing that this year.

Welcome, Barb. Nova Scotia and you are only 5b - must be warmer up there than I imagine. Who is the quite handsome/lovely being on the couch?
