Drove to Barrie 7am this morning and it started to come down pretty heavy..took Diane with me and took her to a nice breakfast buffet..did more shopping and home I am..did need to go shopping for ribbon to finish about 10 more glass blocks but you couldn't find a parking spot so I decided I'd wait until tomorrow...Suzanne can drive around the parking lot a few times while I quickly run in...lol..am sure she'll be pleased at that thought..so, 1/2 of my craft room is tidy, one table left to clean and I'm ready for santa...

Going nexty door to bring a gift as I won't have time this week and with leaving Sunday it doesn't leave me much time...

Sorry I missed your post Shar..will certainly go and pray for him..how very tragic..always tragic but it seems more so at Christmas doesn't it...don't know just how lucky we are to have healthy grandchildren..don't know how I'd bear a loss of such magnitude..

Your place sounds so lovely, and yes, I'll be close to Judy but we might be passing each other along the way..I was so looking forward to getting together..who knows, there still might be a chance...

You sound as though you've been extremely busy as well Shar...bet the house looks beautiful..was just thinking of going out and turning on the machine that controls all my lights and plays music to them...bought one for Melanie this morning..I'm sure here neighbors will appreciate...now that I'm at a standstill but 99 percent done, I'll take a bath and enjoy the rest of the week..Diane said she wouldn't be afraid to bet $100.00 than I'll find something..lol...

Forgot to say one of my friends was at Casino Rama and played poker and came out $196,000.00 richer..the own a gas station and restaurant and are hard workers..so pleased for them..am sure they'll enjoy this Christmas!...

saw my youngest son yesterday. he came over with his new girlfriend. she seemed quite nice and oh so nervous. my DD and i were scrapbooking so we sat her down and helped her make a little pic with a frame and she did quite well too. it broke the ice and she was fine.

I scrapped a pic of my darling puppy that i had to put down a year or so ago...the page turned out lovely!
Im looking forward to getting my cuttlebug for xmas.. that will be fun.

well off to work i go, dont care about the nasty piece at work, im so much happier than she that i feel sorry for her, so miserable and mean.

I got one of those "light boxes" last year in a gift exchange. I just wonder where it is??????? Need to find it and dig it out. It would look pretty--somewhere.....
I tend to stash things here and there and then forget them.

I do not put up a tree--7-8 years going--as I always go to NJ for the Holiday and am never home. Too much bother--and just for ME???? No one else comes here.

I have to laugh when you talk about "running to Barrie to pick up this and that" as if it was down the street! You drive--what? --an hour tot here?

Where I live--everything IS just down the street! 6 grocery stores, the biggest Mall in Baltimore, all kinds of restaurants, two craft shops, 2 HD's, one Lowes, all 3 levels of schools, Wallmart, K-mart, 2 PO's, etc...ALL just 10 minutes away!

AND--i DO live only 5 minutes from complete country. We are on the "edge" of insane development! I can always "escape" to winding roads, white-fenced horse farms, roadside stands, several nurseries and on and on--ALL just less than 10 minutes away!

Are you jealous yet?????

Thanks for the nice comments on my Son and DIL dining room. I just phoned them and read the compliments to them. They haven't decorated in a long time so I knew they would be pleased to hear you all approved.
Betty..they live about 18 miles west of me. Scott is my middle child. My eldest son Mike lives one mile north of me. My daughter Cindy lives about 8 miles away.

Betty "your elves" LOL..have done an amazing job of getting all the gifts ready..it all looks so festive.

I finished wrapping all my families gifts today. It feels good.

Sharran..how sad for the little boy and his family. They are in my thoughts.
What is the subject of the big painting you are doing. So nice to have the talent.

Laura, what a nice ice breaker for your sons new girlfriend. My sister does scrapbooking..it is quite an art...
and I know how expensive it gets as I have shopped with her. She took some classes to get started, and now just creates on her own.

Ah Gita..I am envious..really envious..big/big as the sky envious...but watch out, once development starts it won't be quaint but that's progress I guess...I'm only 15 minutes away from Midland, it also is growing in leaps and bounds but never fails, anytime I want something it's in Barrie...I would say Barrie is about 45 minutes away in good driving but, is in the snowbelt area and if it's going to be stormy anywhere, rest assured it will be Barrie right Carol??? I can understand your not wanting to put up a tree when you won't be home..I do it for me, just love sitting in, looking at all the festive things and enjoying them for ME~

Carol, nice for you to have your family so close by..Greg is about 5 minutes down the road so the boys often drop in..Jeff is in the city and I don't see him or the boys as much but they do try to come up in the summer a little more...getting to dislike Hockey..everytime something is planned, one must plan around their games..he travels all over, Thanksgiving he was in Pittsburg..a little much I think for 11 year olds..

The light boxes are pretty lit up aren't they..I just keep them a round for 'drop-ins' .. when all the family gets together we all ask anyone and everyone to drop in and there is nothing worse than everyone opening gifts and someone is sitting there..so on the lights, I'll not box them, I'll sit them around and put name tags, should someone drop in, I disappear for a moment and voila, there is a gift specifically made for them..is that called 'cheating' or 'lying' hope not..don't think I'd go to hell for that would you??? lol

Laura you will have to show us some of your scrapbooking..years ago I went out and I guess I spent $250. to get started..sat for about 4 hrs. and that's the last time I've done any..should get it out .. the album I purchased to insert my pages was made of canvas so I could paint a design on it...too many hobbies, not enough time...

We're finishing our weekend Laura and here you are into Monday already....yes, Easter is a 4 days weekend here and I make a big deal out of it but nothing like the other holidays..now in Canada, they just announced another stat holiday in early February..it's called "Family Day" I believe..wonder how many families will get together...

The boys have been smilling from ear to ear, purchased new ski-doos and lots/lots of snow..hasn't been like this before Christmas they say since the 80's..also passed the ski lodge and the parking lot was full..nice to see everyone enjoying themselves..I enjoy it, looks pretty, just don't enjoy driving 100 miles to work in a blizzard..

Paul is on vacation this week in the islands so if bad weather arrives it will be Suzanne's call to stay home...we've only 4 1/2 days this week and we're finished so that's not bad and with having everything done for Saturday there will be no rushing....

Must get bags packed though for Sun. but lordy I can do that in 10 minutes if I have to...

Little problem, lost my wallet, searched high and low, bank card in it so, will leave it till Wednesday and if I don't find it by then I'll have to go get new cards...I am TERRIBLE with wallet/purse..I set them down anywhere .. one day I'll learn a good lesson...

Well, I'm rambling so that tells you I'm either very bored or I'm very tired..tired it is..

Best...getting craft room all cleaned up and Bernice's smile when I gave her the light box..even got hugs/kisses!!

Worse..didn't make it to nieces Christmas recital in Toronto but I just didn't have the energy to do so nor did I want to tackle more driving in the snow..sister NOT happy!

What did I learn today? Cousin whom I haven't seen in the past years except for funerals will be in this area on Saturday and said he'd try to visit on Saturday when the kids and family are here...that would be exciting..and yes, there will be a gift waiting for them with name on it...hmmm which one???

AND

going to try and find out who has computers in the states that you can sit, have coffee and use them JUST so I can post to my wonderful DG friends...couldn't do without my friendship fix....

Going for my bath then I'll try to settle in for the evening..if I can't sleep you just might find me back checking in on you all...

The development has been ongoing here for 38 years. Insane development! The area I live in is the fastest growing area in all of Baltimore County.

Many farms have been sold and huge houses or Townhouses are cropping up like mushrooms. The owners are growing old and the young people do not want to farm. We have lost so many farms and orchards here!
To some extent, all this development has given us all the amenities I was telling you about. The Farms etc that are 5 min, from my house are going to stay there--at least for now.

laura, that was nice to make her feel at home oh and the beaded bracelett lol i had a customer at work who just made me feel bad she wanted to know how to make one well she didnt even know how to knit so i spent the whole day at her home showing her i thought i was bad omg she had beads in so many containers in closets under the bed hidden from dh then all the clothing we hit it off very well we came to the conclusion were the biggest pack rats that anyone has ever seen. i think she finally got it. oh to your question... any reason to decorate lol next is valentine then st patrick then easter twice for me we have greek easter and american easter believe me i have all the hollidays in grey bins lol (so out off control)

oh wow look at your sled! my DH or not so DH still HASNT cut the wood for me! i did find podge tho the other day when in a scrapbooking store with my DD. Oh its sooo expensive! I dont buy much, i go to the $2 shops occaisonally, by daughter has some and she shares. I also collect things like the shells and such. I will try and take a pic of some of my pages and see if they come out and post them.

betty i hate to think of you sitting there on your own, wish i lived near by...

well your all just amazing each and everyone.... you all have something very special about you and i get to share it all. i am a lucky woman.

I have to admit, im a little shy on showing things, I know no one would put it down but you are all sooooo talented! I mean my goodness, if only i could learn from you guys... i am waitng to do my project for betty, hopefully soon, you are an artist yourself. i really would like to do something spectacular... hmmm im thinking of doing a canvas but in scraping style if you can imagine it. paint the background and do funky textures and such, then get some really great photos and scrap them onto it with lots of interesting things and then get it framed.
what i would really like to do is dress my grandaughter in a mermaids outfit. I have a hair piece that is long flowing curls. i want to take her to shelly beach and take photos of her sitting on the rocks or asleep on them and print them in sepia tones. then scrap that with autum hues and shells and such.
do you think i can get a mermaid outfit with a lovely full tail??? nooooo and i am no seamstress. so i guess i will have to keep looking but i think it would be great, I was thinking a canvas about say 18-25 inches by say a yard in the old measurements or for those of us in metric, 30cm x 1mtr. hmm i think it would be fun...

morning everyone..took us a little over 2 hrs. this morning..roads were bare but stillidiot on the road, few fender benders..so, just ordered breakfast from restaurant downstairs to fill my tummy and then it's relaxation all day...

Did search high and low for my wallet, no can find, so will have to go to the bank this morning and apply for another interact card or I'll be in trouble..not sure how much was in my wallet, less than $100.00 I'm sure as I did all that shopping..will teach me a lesson (or not)...careless person I am...

Suzanne said she'd take me to Bass Pro at lunch to pick up Wildlife Camera for Darlene and Mike and the metal dectector for Kyle..Sears say the pogo stick will be in by Friday...let's hope...so figure about another $600.00 and it's all over but the crying so to speak...

Ok, so my weekend was a huge success! Friday night DH and Julia set up Christmas tree...Sat., put the lights on...but still undecorated, then DD#1 gathering was very nice, intimate and just the way she wanted, enjoyed watching the family celebrate her life...S&MIL tried to get into one of there famous arguments...but DH and I both wouldn't have it...So they made it quick and not in front of kids and had a lovely time the rest of the visit. LOL those two i am suprised don't come to blows! Anyway i accomplished 4 ornements this weekend to send off today...So I am still right on target, which pleases me altogether. Now Just got to get some shopping done and then i am home or I mean Holiday free! We also placed just afew decorations out in the family room and sun room, didn't go all out this year as it's all got to come down and put away day after christmas. But enough to be cheerfully festive.
...Tonight will get my christmas cards out, by golly I am actually a day ahead of my schedual.

Well, took 1/2 hr. off and went to bank and got my new interact card..now I don't feel naked..have $$$$ (lol)..another hour and we're off to the Vaughan Mills ..walked to the bank and it seemed a lot milder outside, nice day for walking in the malls don't you think..maybe we'll just forget to come back from lunch..wouldn't I wish..youngest son just called, thanked me for his birthday calls..they will arrive Sat. afternoon and will spend the night...they have a Christmas party at 11am in the afternoon on Sunday so if all goes well perhaps I'll leave Sunday around 2pm...

Did you know that it's very hard on a person just sitting, nothing to do???? hmmm

HI all - Stayed busy and not on the PC much this weekend. Added more lights to the front yard. Another deer roamed into our yard to stay - ;-) DH didn't fall for that one!! Target has an animated grapevine moose for $60 that I really want but I'll have to see if any are left on the 26th. Of course adding the new lights made the fuse blow a few times Sat night so DH spent time yesterday re-routing lines. I went to the quilting store Sat to buy fabric for my newest addiction - pillowcases! I bought a couple kits when I went last week with my parents and they were absolutely the easiest thing I've ever made! So I went back to pick out my own fabric and make some for Xmas gifts. Takes 30 mins (if that) to make 2 cases!!! the neat thing is they look really professional - hidden seams and each has a "cuff", accent piece then the body fabric. I'll try tp post a couple tonight.

Gita, sound like you live in Owings Mills. I lived up there in the late 80's in a farm house on rt 30 (in Upperco). I worked at the mall as well as a farmer's market on rt 30 (Spring Meadows farm). I loved it!!! The Greenspring Valley is beautiful in fall! My neice lives downtown now and loves it. Still have friends in Catonsville.

My sinus's kicked in big time this weekend. I did read all but I sure don't remember head was hurting so bad. Fianlly feel better today.

DH and I went and did some errands for him and then we picked up some much needed groceries.Hadn't shopped at that store for about 3 months and was really surprised at how high some of the prices were. Getting to the point where it is not cheaper to drive that far and shop.

Had fast food for lunch and since we don't do that very often it was good.

I got my cards done last week but they are still sitting here. Will go in the mail tomorrow. I have a bit of Xmas spirit. LOL

Will have DH get the tree down while I am at work tomorrow. Then decorate it thur. or fri.

You guys are all so busy and seem to be in good moods and getting everything done. So happy for you all. Sending prayers for that little boy!

Hi Guys.....I have to tell you a good thing.....in the prayer forum i have a prayer request for a little 7 year old boy, whose parents I taught with. The little boy, Gunnar, has a brain stem tumor, it is inoperable, and there is not much that can be done. They take him to Vanderbilt for radiation every week to shrink the tumor, but they bring him home on weekends for family time. Anyway, there is not much anybody can do, but today I got a call asking if I would come while the family has him in Nashville next week and paint a mural of Shamu the killer whale on his wall in his room. Seems that is all he wants for Christmas. Of course i said yes......what else can I do for this child, who has limited time.

And now I feel that it is a minor thing, but he loves the ocean, and he loves all the water shows like at Sea World, and he particularly loves Shamu.......so now i am collecting pictures so I can get the painting just right. And I feel honored that I have been asked to do this. It brings tears to my eyes, but it is the one thing that I can do, and knowing that is what he wants more than anything else, makes it very special.

Just had to share that with all of you.

Morning all...it's early, I'm sitting, sipping on coffee, having porridge..going to wrap the 2 gifts I bought yesterday and that's all that I can see in my plants for today..imagine...I'm resting..

Mom's can be a bit of a pain..am sure my boys think the same from time to time, but she's always thinking she has cancer..am sure the doctor rushes her in for tests just to get rid of her, but, one day who knows, anyway, she called me at work several times yesterday..has major pain in back and right side, told her it's old age and we both have same, but says she might be dying...oh my God!!!! told me perhaps I shouldn't get my insurance right away, so I proceeded to tell her that her DH (my step-father of 40 yrs) will still have to take the flight I booked and I'll have to go down to bring him back...anyway, am sure by Sunday she'll be feeling somewhat better ... crying wolf all the time..one day it will happen..I'm not making fun of pain she has but can't always be 'cancer'...know I should erase the above because it sounds like I'm not very sympathetic, but truly am..just NOT every week for 20 years...

So off I go, make myself pretty (that should take some time) and, the perm I got what 2 maybe 3 weeks ago is completely gone..should call hairdresser and tell her I guess...

Vicki, feel sorry for you..those migraines make it impossible to get through most days..I always had shots that put me out and then I was in Florida a few years back and found 'exedrin migraine' and the minute I start to get one I take 2 pills, sit for 1/2 hr. and virtually can feel it lifting...my GS has them as well (12 yrs. old) he takes it as well...so perhaps it's worth a try..we cannot get them here in Canada so friends always bring them back for me, I'll also have to put them on my list to pick up next week while I'm in Florida...

Shar, you must be on cloud nine to be able to do something for that poor child to make some of his last days more enjoyable, being around things he loves..with Christmas and all, busy schedule, taking one day at a time this year, both sad and happy memories to contend with, it surely will give you a lift doing such a wonderful thing..the Lord is looking after you both...now where will you start? Can see those wheels turning, ideas/ideas and more ideas...God bless you for doing such a thing!

Rita's daughter is arriving on Thursday..she's been in Australia visiting for the past year and has done almost the entire area with friends...they are so looking forward to having her back...

Just waiting for Suzanne to find out who and where I'm meeting someone for ride in..everyone looks after Aunty Betty..lordy, feel silly at times, who's taking Aunt Betty home, who is picking up Aunt Betty..yuk makes me feel ancient..Paul's the worse...everyday he determines my fate...lol...

So, off I go to make a mug of coffee to take with me..wrapped my pressies, did my hair, no lipstick as it was in the bag I lost, other than that I wear no make-up..what you see is what you get...

judy, thanks im still working on the inside lol im burning out real quick almost dont tho will post this week, yes it was the same bracelett laura showed us but the poor thing was so fustrated with the wire, but i told her the next will be a peice of cake its just getting use to the wire.

jeanine, lol i cant use that excuse he always says try again hd had some of those grapevine deer w/lights i just looked at him and said look 29.99 he said go ahead another fire hazzard lol oh the fuse's cant tell you how many times we blew them finally figured out where to plug into now i can run the micro wave and not blow the circuits i asked dh if it would be to much trouble to get pg&e to run more juice to the house but i just got a look so i dont know if that was a yes or no..
cant wait to see the pillow cases sound so pretty are you getting thease kits at a quilt shop?

vicki, oh you poor thing i hope your doing better now after two bouts with sinus and now that that tooth is fixed all my issues have dissapeared funny i would have never thought both were related you havent had to work with the headache have you? hows work going are you still getting xmas deals in, we are but its stuff we had last year there sending us a bunch of with our new deals guess there cleaning out the main warehouse lol here's a good one our driver came yesterday funny guy he looked at us and said boy you really must hate me.. we looked at him and said where did you get that idea? he said you have 4 pallets were burried alive right now maby by wenesday we'll see the back room.

betty, oh how awful to loose your wallet, but im glad you got things replaced, when are you going to be back?? i would mention something to your hairdresser could of been a lot of reasons but thats to soon to relax out..
oh betty send your mom to my moms house lol mine has been saying this about every organ every pain for as long as i can remember and if it isnt cancer its a tumor cant tell you how many times i have exploded so now she has a terrible cold its a cough so deep inside they put her on anitbiotics incase its phemonia but for the last three days she is convinced its lung cancer i just dont know what to do with her its maddning!

well im already going to miss not hearing from you on a frequent basis but im sure you will be having a wonderful time so are you working all week or are you off?

..or buy some sort of converter thing. I have heard that the Excedrin Migraine works well..I don't get migraines..but I do buy Aleve in the U.S. for the times when I overdo in the garden. It isn't available here either.

Well my two youngest grandaughters and I have finished our photo project. They wanted to give their Mum and Dad framed photos for Christmas. I did some editing to make them look a bit unique. The girls chose which version of the several different effects I made...I printed them ...and we wrapped them up..here is my daughter and family.

Liz..still snow on the ground here..they calling for some freezing rain later today.

Hey Judy..Great to hear your weekend went well.

The neighbour's grandkids did not know the old song.. The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers..but their Mother did remember it..and I hope they will learn to play it..The eldest boy is a very good pianist and reads music easily.
This song is a Christmas classic for me.

Ves.nice to hear you are getting a little Christmas spirit..We all put so much into the preparations..and it is over so fast.

Good Morning to Everyone!

Well had a wonderful Ice Storm last night!(not) All our schools are closed today and I thought about not making the drive...But on the news , said trucks were out all night salting so decided to make the treck! To my suprise not at all bad and a lot of people decided not to be on the roads so...here I am finishing up my project. Now I am really glad I came in cause it would have been embarrising to say I was too chicken...LOL

Sounds like everyone is in the festive mood and excitment growing within our little family here! Yep Betty, I do tend to ramble when excited, lol so long as i don't start repeating myself.

...Well I have known what I wanted to pack for a real long time and most set aside now just got dig out all the luggage for kids and DH and get them to prepack...Funny DH said for us to find new swim suits, got to chuckle I said it's the middle of winter, where are we going to find swim suites?? Might have to buy them closer to Florida.

Thought I'd share my fireplace...any one for a cup a coco? Hoping you are all cozy and warm these cold winter nights.

And my window decoration, Not much...and little village is only a very small part of my collection, wasn't even going to set them out but the family said, you got to put at least of few pieces out so....But notice in the window my 2 special Angels!

Will take a photo of railing tonight and thats the extent of our decorating this season!

What a day, what a day..got a call this morning to meet Suzanne in Hillsdale, about 20 miles from my house as it's en route to Midland on her way home..she was going shopping with her mom and sister so that would make it easy for me..was to park in my brother Bernie's yard..made it ok..nice driving..sat there for about 1/2 hr. and though something must be wrong..of course couldn't find my cell phone so went into Bernie's and called..she was about 10 miles south of Hillsdale, had been meditating and forgot me...so my option now was to drive into Barrie, about 15 more miles..but that's ok..got there, no Suzanne, waited about 10 minutes and decided to go use the payphone and check to see if she forgot me at the McDonalds...nope, she had gone just down the street to Walmart to pick up a few movies that just came out today..told me to wait and she'd be but a few secs...not sure how, but we got to work only 5 minutes late...

Got my paints out, the paddle, started my tracing of Paul's cottage and they kept coming over the radio station saying that freezing rain would soon hit the city as would snow further north..so, we stayed till 11:15 and Suzanne made an executive decision..so, here I am safely in the house..quite stormy, roads covered in ice..mega accidents so will look forward to answering the phones from here this aft. and do some painting..no worries about highway driving later this aft. it surely will be a mess and would have taken hours...

Stopped at a little town bakery and bought chelsey buns, homemade cabbage rolls and a fresh out of the oven bread..so, am all set..put on the outside lights and music and thought the only thing better would be a nice hot bath, soon the muscles and perhaps take the swelling out of my left hand, get my jammies on and just relax and paint...

Will be back to gab once I settled in...

Now, what's with the swelling in your left hand, my dear???
