Oh, goodie!
Indoor Blooms, Anyone?
Harper and Beth.......lovely blooms!!
Oh yes! I agree...beautiful!
wonderful shots everyone... thanks for the pick me up
Here are some shots taken of plants in bloom in the GH which will keep me happy during Jan/Feb/Mar until the real show starts outside. I have some snow drops trying to bloom and one real bloom outside, a Hardy Cyclamen, that I planted in 2006. It is blooming for the first time. Tiny but cheery. I am now busy with the spring shrub/perennials plans, so that keeps me happy too.Patti
Beautiful, Patti!
Thank you Patti! I appreciate the 'tale of the tape'! Also like the sense of perspective, from my 'photographer's eye'. (Not sure which one that is.)
Lovely blooms, Patti! A welcome sight!
Patti, what gorgeous blooms! Thanks for the show
ahhhh...a greenhouse..........
I bought a cheap greenhouse and set it all up. when I found out how much it costs to heat it, I converted the spare bedroom into a "grow room" with a 1000watt metal halide light and a humidifier...and now the greenhouse stands empty.
On the subject of cats and houseplants - I have three cats and they never eat my plants. They do like to drink from the cups of cuttings I keep on the windowsills. I have to check the water levels every day!
That's too funny about your cats Sue! Love your houseplants, even if some are 'cheats'.
very nice sue
Beth, it's a jungle in there!
I overwinter geraniums, also. A pink ivy and a red. Then I take cuttings from my rose-scented one each year. I also have a cutting from my Pineapple Sage.
Oh yes! I take cuttings from my scented geraniums and stick them in pots for winter. I have had one favorite going for years.
Great space Beth! Is the MG the one on the right? What's the five pointed leaves vine on the left going up to the top?
Wow - some setup Beth! Do you get many flies?
Nice set-up, Beth!
Sue, how is your pineapple sage cutting doing? I've never tried taking a cutting of it, but I will do that to bring some back to NH for the summer. Thanks for the idea!
No flies, LOL! The brazillian MG is the five pointed leaf one growing up the 4x4, but there are other MGs (Ipomoea nils) to the right. They are generally smaller plants and don't have the soft "thorns" that the brazillian one does.

Louise, I've been doing it for about four years now, and never a problem. They root so fast in water! Very "hardy" - I wish it was outdoor-hardy!
Interesting, Sue! That settles it! I dug mine up and brought it with me because I didn't have the heart to leave it to die when I wanted to have one here. It's just doing great here, but I will have to see how it handles the extreme heat of the summer here. I'll definitely bring some back to NH with me!
wow no way is that a bad thing... it's beautiful MrsJ
I love orchids! Don't have any but think they are one of the most exotic flowers around. I would love to go to Hawaii and just wander among them and the plumeria.
I wish I had a spare room, like you Beth.
A funny story: Becky (10) likes to play in the living room alot and, of course, I get sick of toys in the L.R. So after the Christmas tree went out, I sectioned off a portion with a sewing board and a presentation board. She thinks it's cool to have her own "little room" that she can play in and no one can watch her. She even remarked that she didn't need her bedroom anymore . . . careful, kid, I just might seize it!
cool idea Sue
Beautiful orchid! The orchid show at the NYBG is coming up in a few weeks.
I know Victor - I can't wait!!! Last year was the first time I missed it. If anyone wants to start drooling... http://www.nybg.org/tos/
There is a decided lack of big flower shows out here.....I've been to the Rhode Island show, a couple of shows at NYBG.......ahhhh.....what fun!
I think the Greater NY Orchid Show has more plants than the NYBG one, but it only lasts five days and now that it's in Rocky Center (used to be in the Wintergarden at the WTC) it's really crowded.
I've been to the NYBG one and loved it. I didn't even know there was one in the city. Either, or, I'm going.
It's usually a week or two after the ice rink is closed, Harper.
