Beautiful, pixie!
My Christmas cactus seems to be taking FOREVER to open! It's just about 'there'. I love the way the light is playing on your holiday bouquet.

Lovely blooms, Ladies!! Thanks for sharing those!!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh! How pretty!!
Mine opened two days after Christmas. I think I have a photo that I can post in a little while.

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

my bouganvillea is still going strong.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

I bought baby bouganvillea from Logees in October - how big must they be to start blooming?

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

One of my bouganvilleas is looking really bad here. I can't tell if it's the soil where it's planted or too much/little water. No blooms now either. Bummer!

Candyce - I'm so glad your Christmas cactus finally bloomed! Awesome. I think it just didn't want to upstage little Sean!! How is he doing now? And DD?

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Thanks for asking, Louise. Little Sean is doing magnificently. At his one week check-up he had gained back his birth weight plus an ounce. The doctor thought that was quite remarkable. DD is still very sore, as she had to have extra surgeries to repair her uterus and her bladder wall. (Sorry, gentlemen). It looks like there will be no more grands for me, as she has been advised to not have any more children. But, she's OK with that. She has her daughter and now her son, so she says she's 'set'. My two other DDs have been 'fixed', to put it not so delicately. So, I guess 8 grands will be the limit for me! And, I'm OK with that, too.

Sorry about your bougainvillea. I hope it will be OK for you.

Here's a quick photo of the cactus ...

Best of luck to your daughter and Sean, Candyce! 8 is enough, remember?!

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

give it some water and lots of sun. Mine sat outside in the sun all summer and only had a minimal bloom in september. I brought it in and I guess it thought it was going to die so it is blooming like crazy! It is in a southern facing window however.
That's all I really know about them.

My orchid opened up!!!! As soon as I get home from my jaunt with mom, I'll post a picture.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cool!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Candyce - sorry to hear that DD has had such a tough time! I'm glad she has 2 little ones now! You are very blessed to have 8 grands!! Seeing your blooming cactus, I feel like a proud Grandmother!!! LOL

Martha - Do bouganvilleas like fertilizer? Half of mine looks dead.......it's getting full sun and maybe not enough water...

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

It says in my Western Garden Book that they like fertilizer in spring and summer. mine has got some osmacote on it from the summer which may still be doing the trick. I water mine regularly but not too often since it is a shrub. they need lots of sun, this I do know and I was spelling it wrong. pardon my french but it is bougainvillea. Hope this helps,
Martha

Harper where is that Orchid?? The suspense is killing me!!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

LOL - we were both spelling it wrong.......now it does look better! Thanks for your thinking on my ailing little friend!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Yes, Victor. I remember eight is enough. Now I have my own version - although just five live with me. They CAN sound like eight, though!! Especially around dinner time. Gotta have a system for handling that!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wish I did. My two often sound like at least five.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I bet they do!

Actually I am very thankful that one of the five will be turning sixteen in a couple of months. She has been tasked with keeping the two youngest ones occupied for the hour between five and six PM so that I can cook and get dinner on the table. Our kitchen can be a mad house with me at the stove, and two small 'grands' tugging at my pants legs, and then, there's the dog that's always between me and the stove, just in case I should accidentally drop a morsel or two. Yeah. Chaotic. But I wouldn't have it any other way. I love my 'job'!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's great!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Sounds very homey, Candyce! What a lucky family you have!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Louise:

Oh yeah!
It's so 'homey', that, as you can see, I haven't visited my friends here at DG for a WEEK!!!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Sounds wonderful Candyce.

Well, I finally took pics of my indoor blooms. Here's Amaryllis 'Aphrodite'. Each flower is 8" across. It's just beautiful.

Wow, Beth! You can get a morning glory to grow indoors? That's great! Very pretty too.

My Hoya bloomed a huge panicle of blooms. It smelled pretty, but I had to get right up on it to smell.
