Victor. Are you referring to the pig who starred in Green Acres? I hope.
I would hate to think of anyone eating such a talented pig!
Victor Should Write a Book
Wasn't that Arnold?
Yes. I hope nobody ate Arnold!
Only for brunch.
I do believe the weather has gotten to y'all up there!
And it is only early December - wait until February!
Gloria - I was actually doing a play on 'Green Eggs' and thought it fit in with the show theme!
Gloria - it get worse as the weather get colder -- much worse.
Victor: I know, Green Acres and Ham! Are you writing a play?
I see a reality show in it.
Oh! I See! A TV play!
Well I hope there's a spot for Arnold in it.
(I mean Arnold the pig, not Arnold Swarzenegger ---he's busy.)
I like Arnold the Pig; he scores up there with Wilbur's talking horse, Mr. Ed. I like sensitivity mixed with intelligence in tv animals.
Donnie, You made me chuckle!
Candyce, I'm not surprised it wasn't "You are my wife!"
"Good-bye city life."
I love to shop, Dave. What can I say?
On the west coast , no one really knows how much money you have by the way you dress (unlike the east coast). So you can wear jeans and running shoes and be worth half a billion. Seriously!
So when I go shopping in Vancouver, I go the Holt-Refews - the most expensive clothing store I know of. I have worn red slacks that cost over $2000 - of course, only for 5 minutes and just in a dressing room!
In the same vein (vane?) I have worn all sorts of designer dresses, etc. - but only for 5 minutes. Most expensive item so far? An evening dress for $14,000+ hehehehe.
wow
Not true in NYC. I've seen major rich people dressed in bummy clothes, including Jackie O.
You saw Jackie O?
Yes. In Central Park. Saw many 'celebrities'.
Seandor:
When I lived in NYC in the early 1960s I used to go into Bonwit Tellers and order a fashion show for myself and try on designer clothes.
Then Id go in the dressing room and turn them inside out to see how they were made. Between Bonwit's and Vogue Patterns I learned to make designer clothes. Of course I wound up working in the dirt where I only wore Army surplus!
Victor, You do realize that she has passed away. I think that would excuse her dressing down.
I'm relatively certain she was alive when I saw her.
Hi Gloria- welcome!
Don't rich people tend to wear outrageously expensive jeans & sneakers?
So do most teenagers.
Gloria - now see, you were a born "plant maintainer"......i.e. - one who has great "knock off" plants from snipping cuttings from high end gardens. You got your great training in the Bonwit dressing room! Kudos! But don't you find the army surplus get-up more enjoyable?? LOL
Depends on the occasion. Like Gloria, I would turn them inside out and view the construction of high end garments.
I would LOVE to routinely wear such beautiful clothes - but except for the occasional fitting room, I doubt it will happen in this life-time (well I might win a lottery if someone would buy me a ticket -hint hint (wink) )
I would wear them inside out all the time!
I made a girlfriend a raw silk, french cheesemakers smock years ago using all my best sewing techniques including french seams. Next time I saw her - she was wearing it inside out! She should have figured it out herself when it was really hard to button the cuffs!
Was she walking backwards?
Was that the cheese maker's smock from FolkWear Patterns?
I had the good fortune of meeting and working with a European woman who had worked as a seamstress for Dior. The first thing we did in her little Santa Barbara couture shop was to turn everything inside out!
There is no comparison between a $2000 garment and chop shop jeans and sweatshirts.
I just wonder if kids today are learning to make their own to the highest standards they way we did. Again, not something Id wear for shoveling dirt.
Yes, it was a Folkwear Pattern - I had forgotten the name of the company. I made myself one first and then she wanted one for herself. I still keep a stash of their patterns - maybe someday I will sew again.
No way on the kids question, Gloria. They're way too spoiled and lazy.
What drove me to design and make my own clothes was poverty.
I learned to sew in self defense. My Mom sewed clothes for all three of us girls and she had ummm "unique" tastes. I know that at least 3 of the 4 of us can sew - I'm not sure about the last - she's a whole lot younger and I don't really know her very well. Then one I got into quilting I stopped sewing clothes - heck I stopped even mending. Now that I have a house and a garden - I don't even quilt anymore - of course commuting and having a night job does cut into my discretionary time and then there is discovering rug hooking . . . so many choices, so little time.
And when you evolve through all those different phases you collect a different set of tools and materials all of which take possession of your living space. Just wait until you get to woodworking! You need a table saw for ripping wood, and a chop saw for cross cuts and angles, a band saw for cutting curves, and you need a place to store your South African Zebrawood and salvaged walnut.
I saw a very nice scroll saw at a Tag Sale last weekend that I could have gotten pratically for nothing . . .
Are we writing this book for Victor?? Eleanor

You think your bad? I don't even Iron!
grammy - No. Victor is writing the book. This is supposed to be inspiration. Encouragement. Oink. Oink.
And of course, nothing inspires me more than inside out cheese maker smocks.
